DEA, FBI seize $10 million in cryptocurrency 'directly linked to the Sinaloa cartel'
More than $10 million in cryptocurrency belonging to the Sinaloa cartel has been seized in Florida as part of nationwide drug raids since the onset of President Donald Trump's second term, the Justice Department announced this week. Officials said since Jan. 20, the Drug Enforcement Administration has "seized approximately 44 million fentanyl pills, 4,500 pounds of fentanyl powder, nearly 65,000 pounds of methamphetamine, more than 201,500 pounds of cocaine, and made over 2,105 fentanyl-related arrests." "In Miami, Florida, DEA in coordination with its FBI partners, seized over $10 million dollars in cryptocurrency, directly linked to the Sinaloa cartel," the Justice Department said, noting that the bust happened in the last few weeks. Attorney General Pam Bondi said the DEA agents "are doing historic work to keep our communities safe from deadly drugs like fentanyl and dismantle the cartels selling them." "DEA is hitting the cartels where it hurts — with arrests, with seizures, and with relentless pressure," added DEA Acting Administrator Robert Murphy in a statement. "From meth labs in California to fentanyl pills disguised as pharmaceuticals seized at our border, these operations are saving American lives every single day." "We are not slowing down. We are dismantling these networks piece by piece — and we won't stop until the last brick of their empire falls," he also said. The Justice Department said that during the raids, methamphetamine was found hidden in a "truckload of cucumbers" and a "refrigerated truck carrying blueberries." The operations unfolded from coast to coast, including in the states of California, Arizona, Texas, Nebraska, Minnesota, Indiana, Kentucky, South Carolina, Georgia and Florida.

Sydney bikie blitz: Three men charged after Raptor Squad's 'day of action'
Three men have been charged after officers executed a series of early-morning raids targeting members and associates of the Finks Outlaw Motorcycle Gang. Raptor Squad officers executed 14 firearm prohibition order checks and issued 13 consorting warnings for associating with convicted offenders on Tuesday. Police allegedly seized 35g of cocaine, 16g of methylamphetamine, 12 MDMA tablets, and a small quantity of cannabis during the early-morning raids in Sydney 's west. About 5.50am, a 50-year-old man was arrested at a home in Georges Hall for allegedly breaching his consorting warning more than 10 times in seven months. The man was taken to Bankstown Police Station, where he was charged with habitually consorting with convicted offenders after receiving a warning. He received conditional bail to appear in Bankstown Local Court on August 14. At 5.45am, a car being driven by a 32-year-old man was stopped for a firearms prohibition order compliance check in Auburn. Police allege officers found a knife and a baseball bat inside the vehicle. The driver was charged with custody of a knife in a public place, and having custody of an offensive implement in a public place. He received conditional bail to attend Burwood Local Court on August 7. At 7.10am, officers executed a similar compliance check in North Parramatta. They allegedly found a quantity of prohibited drugs, scales, and packaging consistent with the supply of drugs at the address. A 52-year-old man was arrested and taken to Parramatta Police Station where he was charged with three counts of supply prohibited drug, indictable and commercial quantity, and possessing prohibited drugs. He was refused bail and will appear in Parramatta Local Court on Wednesday. It comes after five alleged high-ranking Finks members were charged over what police alleged was an attempted break-in at a home in Newcastle. Three Sydney men, aged between 25 and 29, were arrested in Liverpool. A 38-year-old Sydney man was later arrested at John Hunter Hospital in Newcastle after he was allegedly shot during the alleged attack. The men were hit with various charges including aggravated break and enter with intent and participating in a criminal group before they were refused bail. A 47-year-old was later charged with cultivating an outlawed plant and using an illegal weapon but was granted conditional bail at the time. The motorcycle gang was rocked by the death of their 34-year-old sergeant-at-arms in February last year. Jamie Goodworth was dumped outside Liverpool Hospital at 1am with two gunshot wounds before he died in surgery. Goodworth had been involved in an alleged break-in at a Edensor Park home owned by a man with suspected links to the Assyrian Kings gang to steal up to $250,000. The sergeant-in-arms had tried to break down the door but a man inside opened fire, hitting him twice through the door.

Allen police increase pressure on hemp businesses with raids across North Texas
Police raided locations across DFW on Tuesday in a year-long investigation into THC sales. The Allen Police Department, with help from the DEA, seized products at three warehouses in Dallas, while other agencies raided the owners' homes in Carrollton, Colleyville, and Plano. Allen's police chief took the CBS News Texas crew inside one of the warehouses as officers pulled products off the shelves. Chief Steve Dye said the warehouse raids are the product of an investigation that began more than a year ago with undercover purchases at shops in Allen. The I-Team documented how the Allen Police Department's narcotics unit bought and tested the items ahead of raids at nine stores last August. Investigators said the illegal products found in Allen are being supplied by the warehouses in Dallas. "You don't have to go to your drug dealer anymore to buy drugs," said Dye. "You can go to a vape shop on any corner." He believes the products found on store shelves are more dangerous than illegal drugs because, Dye said, the false sense of safety has led to an explosion in use. Hemp business owners and their attorneys disagree "This has just been nonstop harassment for our clients," said David Sergi. Sergi represents Monster Smoke Wholesale, one of the warehouses targeted by police. "They have, as far as I know, certificates of analysis for each and every product they sell," said Sergi. "They have spent a lot of money on compliance." The raids took place as Gov. Greg Abbott weighs the future of Senate Bill 3, which would outlaw THC altogether. The I-Team asked Dye about the timing of the raids and the political pressure on Abbott. "This operation has been planned for months," he said, adding, "The timing is what it is." Even so, Dye left the warehouse and headed straight to Austin, where he said he planned to meet with the governor's staff about the bill. Abbott has refused to say much about SB3 or his intentions for the bill. He has until June 22 to sign or veto the bill. If neither happens, it will become law even without his signature.

3.6kg of heroin seized in drug raids, 139 people arrested
SINGAPORE: Nearly 3.6kg of heroin was seized and 139 people arrested during drug raids across Singapore in May, the Central Narcotics Bureau (CNB) said on Saturday (May 31). Of the 139 arrested, the youngest was a 14-year-old student for suspected drug use. CNB officers conducted raids from May 18 to May 30, covering areas such as Ang Mo Kio, Boon Keng, Bukit Merah, Jurong and Sengkang. During the raids, more than S$626,700 (US$486,000) worth of drugs were seized. Besides the heroin, another 2.7kg of cannabis, 1.3kg of Ice, 155g of Ecstasy, 26g of cocaine and more than 200 Erimin-5 were found. Officers also discovered 49 vape devices suspected to contain tetrahydrocannabinol, a cannabinoid found in cannabis, and 22 LSD stamps. FIVE ARRESTED IN TUAS In the early morning of May 23, CNB launched a raid in Tuas South Avenue, acting on information it received. Five foreign nationals – men aged between 23 and 34 – were arrested for suspected drug offences. Two of them struggled to resist arrest, and "necessary force" was used to subdue them, said CNB. A 23-year-old man was spotted disposing of substances, including 2g of cannabis. Another man was found with Ice. The officers also arrested a 32-year-old man after 27g of cannabis was found in a room in a "residential lodging" in the area. HEROIN IN GEYLANG HOTEL ROOM On May 28, CNB officers raided a hotel room in Geylang Lorong 10 and arrested a 46-year-old man for suspected drug trafficking offences. The officers forced their way in because the man had refused to comply with orders to open the door. More than 2.8kg of heroin was found, together with 565g of Ice, 20g of cannabis, 24g of ketamine, four Erimin-5 tablets and over S$500 in cash. The following day, a 29-year-old man was arrested at the car park of a condominium at Tampines Street 86 for suspected drug trafficking offences. He was escorted to his "hideout in the condominium", said CNB. Officers found more than 2kg of cannabis, 165g of Ice, 103g of ketamine, 37g of Ecstasy, 26g of cocaine and 22 LSD stamps, as well as Erimin-5 tablets and 49 vapes. Assistant Commissioner Aaron Tang, director CNB's Intelligence Division, said: "The drugs we seized from the operation would have destroyed countless lives and families in Singapore. "Our message is clear - those who choose to profit from selling drugs will face the full force of CNB's actions. We will hunt these drug traffickers down to keep Singapore drug-free for our communities." Investigations into the arrested suspects are ongoing.
