Chhattisgarh government gives a strong message of zero tolerance towards corruption

The Chhattisgarh Government, under Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai, has suspended 22 Excise Department officials for their alleged involvement in the Rs 3,200 crore liquor scam that took place during the previous regime. This is one of the state's largest anti-corruption crackdowns. An investigation by the Economic Offences Wing (EOW) and the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) found that the officials earned around Rs 88 crore through illegal means between 2019 and 2023. A supplementary chargesheet filed on July 7 includes 2,100 pages of evidence and names 227 witnesses. The scam was run by a coordinated syndicate, in which the accused Excise officials played a central role. One of the officials named in the case has passed away, while seven others have retired from service. Those suspended include five Deputy Commissioners, 13 Assistant Commissioners, and four District Excise Officers. The government is also probing other major scams from the previous government's tenure, including the District Mineral Fund (DMF), Mahadev betting app scam, and the tendu leaf scam. Over 200 corrupt officials have been caught by the ACB in the last two years. Reforms have also been introduced to improve transparency—procurement through the GeM portal is now mandatory, the e-Office system is in place, and the Single Window System 2.0 has been launched for faster clearances. The Excise Department has abolished the FL-10 policy and introduced holograms on liquor bottles to prevent counterfeiting. Processes in the mining and forest departments have also been digitised. The PSC-2021 exam scam has been handed over to the CBI, which has arrested the then Commission Chairman. The EOW is investigating the Bharatmala and CGMSC scams. Chief Minister Sai has said the scam took place under the previous government and that all those involved will face strict action. 'There is no place for corruption in Chhattisgarh,' he said.

MDA to soon implement e-Office to streamline workflow

Mysuru: The e-Office software platform, which has revolutionised administrative workflow in govt agencies, will be implemented in the Mysuru Development Authority (MDA) within the next week. The software enables seamless digital documentation of all govt records and correspondences between various sections of the authority, officials said. It allows officers at the senior level to track the status of every work at their fingertips. MDA special land acquisition officer KR Rakshith, who is in-charge commissioner of MDA, told TOI that the e-Office software facilitates officers at the senior level to track progress online. "Currently, all internal file movement at the authority is done manually, and within the next week, it will be made online. This means MDA will go paperless," he said. "As senior officers, we can track the file and its current position online and identify reasons for the delay at every level. Even the number of days delayed in attending to a file by a staffer will be shown online. Online tracking will ensure the works are done quickly without unnecessary delay," the KAS officer said. "A two-day training was organised for all staffers at MDA to start using the software, which ensures transparent administration, as directed by govt," he explained. The e-Office software allows electronic filing, workflow management, and access to govt services. The software helps digitise workflow, facilitates faster decision-making, and improves transparency in govt operations. The system features robust security protocols to protect sensitive govt data while maintaining transparency in operations. Govt employees can access the platform through secure login credentials, helping them manage correspondence, create digital files, and process applications efficiently. The software includes features like digital signatures, file noting, and document management that have significantly reduced paper usage and storage requirements. The platform facilitates faster decision-making by enabling real-time file movement between various administrative levels. Citizens benefit from this digital transformation through faster response times to their applications and queries. The platform also includes features for managing leave applications, employee records, and office inventory. Environmental benefits include a significant reduction in paper consumption and physical storage space requirements. An officer claimed that the system's mobile compatibility allows officials to access and process files even while working remotely. Digital signs to electronic files: Gr Noida will go online

Noida: Greater Noida Authority will switch to e-office, which is expected to speed up paperwork by allowing officials to approve files from any part of the state. UP govt earlier directed all departments to go online to improve administrative efficiency and transparency. According to officials, email IDs have already been created for all permanent staff members of the Authority, and the process of issuing digital signatures is currently underway. "The NIC is handling the technical implementation of this project. With e-Office, all files will be digitised and made available online. The officers and employees, regardless of their location, will be able to access and sign these files digitally. Each approval will be time-bound, making it easier to ensure timely action on files," said NG Ravi Kumar, CEO of the Greater Noida Authority. He added that the cost of implementing the system will be covered by the state government. The CEO directed officials to expedite the transition to e-Office, and KM Chaudhary, the system manager of the Authority, has been appointed as the nodal officer to oversee the implementation. Chaudhary said that email IDs of most officers and employees have been generated, and the process of creating digital signatures is underway. He said that approximately 160 employees of the Authority are expected to work on the e-Office platform. "For those whose email IDs and digital signatures have not yet been created, the Authority will organise a camp on Monday at the Authority Auditorium from 3 pm onwards," he said. The officers who need to complete their digital signature process have been instructed to bring their Aadhaar card, PAN card, and Authority-issued ID card to the camp. The e-Office project is a key component of Uttar Pradesh's broader push towards digital governance.
