Audi E-Tron GT Is A Worthy Lamborghini Cousin
Audi RS e-tron Performance I've driven other vehicles from the Audi e-tron lineup in the past, and have been duly impressed with their instant torque, high-tech interiors, and precision tuning. But I'd never driven the RS e-tron GT before, and it took my breath away. Lithe, beautiful, and quick, the 2025 Audi RS e-tron GT Performance is a sleek machine. This all-electric four-door sounds and drives much differently than the Audi RS6 Avant, and while I kind of missed the RS6 Avant's throaty roar I fell hard for the quiet acceleration of the RS e-tron GT. Bottom line: while this all-electric car uses Porsche-sourced platform and powertrains, it transcends its origins. If Lamborghini were to decide to make a battery-powered sedan, I think it would feel a lot like the Audi RS e-tron GT. Audi RS e-tron Performance interior What's New For The Audi E-Tron GT For 2025? Audi updated the powertrain and added the RS Performance option, which boasts an blistering 912 horsepower. The RS still impresses at 845 hp, and the base S model is no slouch with 670 hp. The e-tron GT styling was freshened up for 2025, including elements like the grille and wheels. Of the nine exterior colors, two are new (I'm partial to the Progressive Red hue). Audi RS e-tron Performance Carbon, Carbon Everywhere Inside the RS e-tron GT Performance, the cabin can be festooned with carbon fiber from tip to tip. An $8,400 forged carbon package adds 21-inch 6-double-spoke wheels, a dark carbon roof panel, illuminated forged carbon door sill inlays, forged carbon exterior trim and mirror housings, and forged carbon interior inlays. Plus, that package comes with summer tires for optimal zip. Audi RS e-tron Performance Range, And Still Room For Cargo In This Audi E-Tron A family of four could happily enjoy this car on a lengthy road trip. When equipped with 20-inch wheels, the e-tron GT S model is good for 91 MPGe in the city and 88 MPGe on the highway. You'll have to give up 2 MPGe in the city and 3 MPGe on the highway if you opt for the 21-inch wheels. Range is more than adequate to please the majority of EV drivers; the S model can go up to 300 miles on a full charge and the RS Performance with the larger wheels loses just six miles for a total of 294. The 97.0-kWh lithium-ion battery can be recharged from 10 to 80 percent in less than 20 minutes on a fast charger. Under the power liftgate, the e-tron GT has 9 cubic feet of capacity. That's plenty for a few carry-on bags and backpacks, with room to spare for snacks. Need to store a little extra? There's another two cubic feet in the frunk, or front trunk. Audi RS e-tron Performance Audi E-Tron RS Cabin Tech Audi is known to build tech-forward cabins and infotainment systems, and this electric sedan is no exception. The 10.1-inch touchscreen is well integrated into the dash and physical controls on the steering wheel and the console make it easy to navigate. Also, I'd recommend the panoramic fixed glass roof with digital light control for the most aesthetic appeal, and extra headroom that a physical shade would inhibit. The Audi e-tron lineup continues to set the pace for the future, and the RS e-tron GT Performance is guaranteed to thrill.

New Audi models are getting a major Dolby sound upgrade
If you're considering buying a new Audi you will want to read this, as there's a major sound upgrade coming to a number of the auto maker's models. From July 2025, new Audi Q7, Q8, A8 and e-tron GT EV models will come with Dolby Atmos support. This immersive surround sound experience has been common place in movie theaters and home hi-fi systems for years, but it also appears in a number of cars. Recommended Videos While it's not the first firm to introduce this tech, it's a boost for future owners looking for a premium sound experience on the move. Audi joins a long line of manufacturers who have Dolby Atmos in select vehicles, including Cadillac, Mercedes‑Benz, Porsche, Rivian, Smart and Volvo. While surround sound has existed in cars for some time, Atmos dials things up a notch by not only surrounding you with speakers front and back, left and right, but by also delivering sound from above, to create a cocoon of audio. One of its majors use cases is creating a more immersive experience when watching movies, but this isn't an option in Audi's vehicles. Instead the Bang & Olufsen Premium 3D Sound System, which has been specially adapted to integrate Dolby Atmos Music, will provide you with premium music playback. You'll be able to listen to Atmos tracks via the Amazon Music, Audible and Tidal streaming services, with the ability to download their apps directly on Audi's infotainment system for easy access. Premium sound for premium models While this is a welcome addition to Audi's in-car entertainment setup, Atmos for now is only available in the firm's most expensive vehicles. You'll need to make sure you have the Bang & Olufsen Premium sound system with 3D option selected, which isn't included in the base-level trims of the Q7, Q8 and A8. That means Audi's two best selling cars in the US during 2024 – the Q5 and Q3 SUVs – are not getting the Atmos upgrade. At least, not for now. Audi could look to bring Dolby Atmos to more models in the future – although we've had no word on whether this is being considered – so for now you'll have to make do with the top-spec options.

Audi's flagship EV getting cheaper with new base model
Audi has launched a new entry-level version of its flagship electric vehicle (EV) for Europe, bringing the base price down by almost A$30,000. The Audi e-tron GT quattro slots in under the S e-tron GT in the updated electric sedan range, which was previously confirmed for release here during the first half of this year. We've contacted Audi Australia to confirm if the new entry-level variant will also come here. Hundreds of new car deals are available through CarExpert right now. Get the experts on your side and score a great deal. Browse now. In Europe, it'll be priced from 108,900 euros (~A$188,000), which is 17,100 euros less than the S e-tron GT. It features a 105kWh (97kWh) net battery capacity like the rest of the updated range, offering up to 622km of range under the WLTP cycle, DC fast-charging at up to 320kW, and a route planner that automatically pre-conditions the battery. Energy consumption is listed at between 17.8 and 19.3kWh/100km, slightly better than the S e-tron GT (18-19.7kWh/100km) which also has slightly less range (609km) and weighs 30kg more. The e-tron GT quattro's dual-motor all-wheel drive powertrain produces 370kW of power, increasing to 430kW with launch control. That gives the e-tron GT quattro a claimed 0-100km/h acceleration time of 4.0 seconds, which is 0.6 seconds slower than the S e-tron GT which has up to 500kW of power. It's distinguished from the S e-tron GT through greater use of black trim up front, as well as unique 21-inch alloy wheels. The e-tron GT quattro has a drag coefficient of 0.24Cd. Audi's EVs posted a global sales decline of eight per cent in 2024, amid an overall decline for the brand of 12 per cent. While deliveries of its EVs in Europe actually increased by six per cent last year, e-tron GT sales slumped 49 per cent – a decline surpassed only by the axed TT and Q8 e-tron Sportback. In Australia, e-tron GT sales slumped 75.2 per cent compared to 2023, with just 84 reaching local buyers last year. Porsche sold more than twice as many of its related Taycan, with 282 delivered. The launch of the new entry-level e-tron GT comes despite Audi's introduction of the A6 e-tron, which would appear to negate the need for a more accessible version of the flagship four-door sedan/coupe. The updated e-tron GT range not only gets a new battery plus new variants such as the quattro and range-topping Performance, but also receives a new, lighter rear electric motor and revised suspension. The sultry styling has been left effectively unchanged, though detail revisions include new paint colours and wheels.
