Drama as little boy gets stuck inside CLAW machine after trying to steal prize
Dramatic video footage has captured the moment a young boy sparked panic after he trapped himself inside a claw machine in an attempt to grab a prize. The scene occurred at an Ohio community center in Mason, about 25 miles north of Cincinnati, about 1pm on Monday. Surveillance footage shows the little boy climbing headfirst into the opening prize chute before crawling inside of the arcade-style game. Soon after, the boy can be seen fully inside the glass box, sitting among the stuffed animal toys. Staff quickly wheeled the entire machine into a nearby store and closed it off as emergency responders arrived to free the boy. The child surprisingly appears calm as he peers out from behind the glass. The dramatic scene occurred Monday afternoon at the Mason Community Center in Ohio at about 1pm After a few minutes, firefighters were able to open the back panel of the machine and safely remove him. Officials confirmed the boy was not injured and did not require medical treatment. The claw machine was reportedly back in service later that day. A similar incident occurred years ago in Florida as an adorable kid unexpectedly became stuck in claw machine as he attempted to get himself a new stuffed animal. Mason was dining with his parents at a restaurant in Titusville when a toy sitting in the machine caught his eye. Without asking his parents for help, the toddler took matters into his own hands and climbed into the machine through a very tiny opening. He kept his eye on the prize and retrieved the toy he so eagerly wanted, but the cute kid could not get back out the way he came. In a video of the incident, one firefighter told Mason to, 'sit down and relax,' in an attempt to calm the child down. According to first responders, they were 'able to get Mason out in short order with minimal damage to the game'.

A fire at a telecom company in Cairo injures 14 and temporarily disrupts service
CAIRO (AP) — A fire engulfed the main telecom company building in downtown Cairo on Monday, injuring at least 14 people and prompting a temporary outage of internet and mobile phone services, officials said. The 14 injured were taken to nearby hospitals, the Health Ministry said in a statement. A witness told news broadcaster Cairo 24 that two emergency responders suffered burns on their hands. The fire started on the seventh floor of a landmark 10-story Telecom Egypt building in the Ramses area of Cairo, the governor's office said in a statement. Ambulances and firetrucks were on site as plumes of dark smoke rose in the downtown. Firefighters put up ladders as firetrucks spewed water to contain the blaze, while security officials cordoned off the area. The fire broke in an equipment room of Telecom Egypt and led to a temporary disruption of telecom services, the Telecommunications Regulatory Authority said in a statement. Telecom services were expected to be restored within hours, the authority said. Online payment services were also disrupted. NetBlocks, a global internet monitor said on X that network data show national connectivity was at 62% of ordinary levels amid reports of the fire at the telecoms datacenter in Cairo. The fire took place a few kilometers (miles) from where a deadly blaze at a train station in 2019 killed at least 25 people and injured at least 45 others after a collision caused a huge explosion.

Tropical Storm Chantal Floods Parts of North Carolina
Tropical Storm Chantal dumped up to 10 inches of rain in parts of North Carolina on Sunday, bringing significant flooding that inundated homes, closed roads, stranded drivers and threatened to push rivers to near historic levels. The worst impacts of the storm were felt in the central part of the state, where tens of thousands of people were without power, emergency responders rescued people trapped in their vehicles, and at least two tornadoes were confirmed, the authorities said. As of early Monday, no fatalities or injuries had been reported. Forecasters said the storm, which made landfall early on Sunday in South Carolina before moving inland as a tropical depression, was expected to continue to move northeast toward Southern Maryland and possibly as far as New Jersey. 'While things will improve across North Carolina, they may worsen for areas further to the northeast,' said Frank Pereira, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service. 'We're advising people not to go out and travel unless absolutely necessary,' he said. In central North Carolina, the storm downed trees and power lines and inundated roads, trapping several drivers who had to be rescued, according to local authorities. Footage posted to social media appeared to show cars in the town of Chapel Hill, southwest of Durham, half submerged by floodwaters. About 60 miles south, in Southern Pines, N.C., a private dam broke, contributing to the flooding, said Mike Cameron, the assistant town manager and fire chief. He said emergency responders had rescued three people trapped in vehicles. Though the storm has slowed, forecasters said that it could still dump large amounts of rain along its path, leading to flash flooding. Where did it rain? Flash flooding can occur well inland and away from the storm's center. Even weaker storms can produce excessive rainfall that can flood low-lying areas. Recorded rainfall for the last day 0.5 1 2 5 10+ inches The New York Times As of early Sunday morning, parts of North Carolina, Virginia, Maryland, New Jersey, Delaware and Pennsylvania remained under flood warnings or watches. The greatest risk of flooding was in urban areas, said Mr. Pereira, the meteorologist. There was also the potential for heavy surf and rip currents along much of the east coast, he said. The Atlantic hurricane season started on June 1 and runs through Nov. 30. There have been two tropical storms so far: Andrea, which formed on June 24 and dissipated a day later, and Barry, which formed in the Gulf on Sunday just off Mexico's coast before making landfall that night. In May, forecasters at the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration predicted that this year would be an above-average hurricane season, with 13 to 19 named storms. Typically, the most destructive storms come later in the summer. Experts think it is probable that a major hurricane will make landfall in the United States this season. Climate experts have warned that intense storms like these are more likely to occur, with more rapid intensification likely in a warming world. Last year was also one of the most costly for hurricanes in the United States.
