Malaikaraiss Berlin Spring 2026 Collection
This season at Malaikaraiss, the focus is on cuts. It's a small 'best of' from designer Malaika Raiss, who is well-known in Berlin, especially for bridal and evening wear designed with comfort and ease—in all sizes and with all the extras. For example: a black velvet halter dress created a new sculptural silhouette with a removable nylon belt with a lacquer effect, while semi-transparent sequined dresses laid against the body like liquid shimmer. Playing with contrasting elements, like black against white, sequins and velvet, and body-skimming and voluminous silhouettes, has a metaphorical meaning for the designer. 'For me, it's about love in all its layers. Of course, it can be light and cheerful, but it can also be dark and deep.'

Elie Saab Resort 2026 Collection
Though he's built an empire on glamorous eveningwear, with this resort collection Elie Saab sought to prove that he's just as serious about daywear. The lineup included trans-seasonal staples such as flared jeans; wide, high-waisted trousers; a double-breasted jacket in gabardine; and a roomy blouson in chocolate-colored leather, shown here with the designer's latest takes on the safari skirt, in twill or buttery black leather. A trench coat played it classic or feminine thanks to side zippers designed to reveal or conceal a splay of accordion pleats. With an eye to easy layering, Saab put his own spin on hero pieces like a denim jacket (here with macramé sleeves), one-and-done day dresses in English eyelet or a floral-printed knit, and fine knits, lacy lingerie tops, and travel-friendly sweaters that slouch just so. From time to time, the designer ventured into youthful new territory. A polka-dot silk pajama top and shorts ensemble was worn under one of those blazers, for example. Picking up on an idea from past runway outings, a multi-colored cardigan and bralette twinset was paired with low-rise flares. But since Saab's ladies live to shine, especially by night, the designer delivered with numbers like a mesh knit lingerie dress, a beige tweed winking with flecks of sky blue, or gradient gunmetal sequins on a gown or a jumpsuit. A sunburst halter dress was showered with crystals; a sunrise sequin effect shimmered in hues of gold, dusty pink, and mocha. Bags included a new iteration of The Wave—a collaboration with designer Marina Raphael—now with a bamboo handle.

What To Wear to a Gala To Look Chic and Timeless
What to wear to a gala is an ever-evolving question—as is the quest to find the perfect gala gown. Is your summer social calendar suddenly blossoming with glamorous events? Black-tie affairs, over-the-top birthdays, a grand night at the ballet, or a glitzy charity function? Getting inspired for evening wear that turns heads as much as it sticks to sometimes strict fête dress codes can feel quite overwhelming. It doesn't have to be all about the ball gown or a salary-slashing investment dress this side of the century—these days, short and midi dresses can also fly in certain circumstances too, and there's plenty of ways to go glam that don't break the bank. Gala attire, too, has gotten with the times. Whether you are on the hunt for a dress to wear to that next grand charity function or deducing what the dress code even means—we've called upon some of the most well-dressed gala attendees Vogue knows to give their glitz-busting advice. Below, the the Vogue guide for what to wear to a gala, to keep you feeling chic, timeless, and comfortable while fêting whatever the night calls for. A toast! Know your gala Heading to a charity ball, an art gallery dinner, or the opening season of the New York ballet? It's important to consider the cultural landscape of the room you're dressing for. 'Like all things in life, galas require context,' advises Vogue 's Lilah Ramzi-Goettemann, who knows her way around attending and dressing for a gala event. 'A black-tie fundraiser at the Whitney Museum of American Art? One might dabble in the artful and avant-garde. A medical benefit for breast cancer research? Save the fashion stunts—this is a night for reverence and restraint.' 'There is no shame in looking up a dress code,' says Elle McPherson-Yoon, an expert in dressing timelessly and chicly for a night gala-ing. She points to iconic etiquette and social behaviour resources like Emily Post and Debrett's for some further reading. 'Then, I'd say read and understand your invitation well!' she adds. 'The style of the actual invitation should reflect the tone of the event, and tell you about the host, purpose of the event, and season. I would also look up the venue and images from years past if possible.' How to dress for dress codes In need of gala dress code tips? What exactly is gala attire? Well, it can vary. But most broadly and commonly: Black tie Simply, it's a step above cocktail attire and one below 'white tie.' (More on that later). When it comes to 'black tie,' you can generally assume, most simply, that means a long dress for women. But make sure yours comes in an evening-worthy fabric, like lace, chiffon, tulle, or velvet. If the event feels a bit more relaxed, a short dress could cut it if it feels formal and elevated enough, but for peace of mind, we suggest a floor-hitting look. For men (or anyone who wants to wear the more masculine style, really), consider a tuxedo and white dress shirt, and a black bow tie with your dinner jacket. White tie While black tie has overwhelmingly replaced the white tie dress code, it can crop up—just like it did for the 2022 Costume Institute Gala, 'In America: An Anthology of Fashion.'

Monique Lhuillier Spring 2026 Ready-to-Wear Collection
Monique Lhuillier showed her upbeat, colorful spring collection on a gloriously sunny New York City afternoon this week. The designer, who is known for her bridal gowns and eveningwear, zeroed in on zingy dresses with a sense of refinement for both day and night this season. 'I wanted to make it feel more modern, and really hone in on who my girl is,' the designer said. Focusing less on heavy prints or embroideries, Lhuillier allowed her striking colors and smart silhouettes to be the focal point for spring—but don't expect minimalism. Her opening frock in bright meadow-green with a high slit, featured a fresh sculptural asymmetric neckline; while her take on a white t-shirt dress was modern, thanks to the digitized floral print plastered over the front. For a designer who specializes in occasion dressing, there were clear attempts at making things a little less precious. Take her draped jersey dresses with artful built-in ruching, which could be easily thrown and rumpled into a suitcase. Nighttime is obviously her specialty. It was evident in a strapless ball gown adorned with blue metallic-raffia florals, or a corseted black lace dress with a drop-waist skirt that was sexy and timeless. Slightly wilder were her very on-trend leopard print two-piece suits and sequin column gowns—they were her attempt at reaching a slightly younger customer, though at Lhuillier's price point, they likely can't afford them. The showstopper was the sunset-hued chiffon number which featured a cascading scarf-cape trailing behind it. Forget a dress that makes an entrance—this one was all about the exit.

LaPointe Resort 2026 Collection
Sally LaPointe has a new office. It's one floor down from where she was a year ago, but the space is vastly different. Not only does it feel like twice the size of her previous headquarters, but the massive floor-to-ceiling windows makes it feel warmer, perhaps symbolizing the start of an even sunnier year for LaPointe, who reports that she's doing well at retail. For resort, the designer wanted to focus on making the things that she and her customers love. 'Pre-collections are always a joy for me. Being able to just zero in on the fashion and deliver things that I know my woman will love is very satisfying,' she said. Many of her favorite statement pieces returned this season but in comfortable versions. New this season was eveningwear in a very luxe and thick jersey that really contours the body. Her color palette—bold turquoise and burgundy with a slight sheen—added to the statement-making effect. LaPointe is known for her sexy designs, but this season there was a wider breadth of styles on offer, including a mini-shift dress with her signature feather trim that was very uptown in style. Similarly, the brand is proving to be a big hit in the Middle East, thanks to her lightweight caftans and capes, which this season she produced in even more colors and variations. LaPointe may have conquered New York City's fashionistas, but the international ones aren't far behind.
