Report – Inter Milan Name Parma & Genoa Stars Top Defensive Priorities

Parma's Giovanni Leoni and Genoa's Koni De Winter remain at the top of Inter Milan's shortlist this summer. According to Sportitalia via FCInter1908, they are the two top defensive targets for the Nerazzurri this summer. Advertisement Despite refusing to terminate Francesco Acerbi's contract, Inter are trying to add to Cristian Chivu's defensive options. Indeed, they've already identified their priorities. Giovanni Leoni is on top, but Parma's €40 million asking price could throw a spanner in the works. Therefore, they've shifted their attention toward Koni De Winter. At 23, the ex-Juventus youngster still has ample room for improvement. Advertisement Nonetheless, he enjoyed an impressive 2024/25 season at Stadio Luigi Ferraris. Moreover, his versatility makes him a perfect candidate to replace Yann Bisseck, who could move to the Premier League. It's also worth noting that the two deals are not mutually exclusive.

Paul Pogba and Mason Greenwood denied Man Utd reunion for two reasons

Former Manchester United star Paul Pogba looks set to join up with Monaco to reignite his career and the chance of joining up with Mason Greenwood at Marseille appears to be over Paul Pogba is set to make his return to football having been without a club since November 2024. The midfielder appears to be on his way to Monaco and set to sign a two-year deal in the principality. Juventus parted ways with the Frenchman after he received an 18-month doping ban, which was lifted in March. Pogba, 32, was initially linked to joining up with Marseille and former Manchester United team-mate Mason Greenwood under Roberto De Zerbi. ‌ Despite persistent links, Les Minots ultimately never made a proposal for Pogba's services, despite his availability for free. De Zerbi is said to have been a fan of the player but too many issues stood in the way of Marseille taking the risk. ‌ The volume of midfielders the club already have at their disposal played on the side's mind. Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg has already seen his loan move made permanent while the club are set to trigger a clause to do the same with Ismael Bennacer to add to Geoffrey Kondogbia, Adrien Rabiot, Valentin Rongier and Bilal Nadir. Marseille's second concern is based around Pogba's fitness. The French club were not convinced that the veteran would be in his best shape to be successful, per RMC Sport. Now, Pogba is said have made 'financial sacrifices' ahead of joining up with Monaco for next season. Though, the World Cup winner recently claimed he had yet to commit to a club. "I haven't signed anything, but there's interest. We'll see," Pogba told Sergio Aguero's podcast, La Casa del Kun. But the ex-Juventus star did reveal his admiration for Argentine giants Boca Juniors "In life, you never know," he said. "I loved the people who went to see Boca's match (at the Club World Cup), it's crazy because I went to Marseille, which is hot, Naples is hot, but Boca... I've never seen that in my life." ‌ But Pogba's chance of linking up with Greenwood appear to be over. The pair played together 71 times at Old Trafford. Greenwood joined Marseille last summer as the French side offered him a new home after United decided he had no future with the club. The 23-year-old spent the previous season on loan at Getafe.

Liverpool immediately have salt rubbed in wounds after £50m transfer collapse

Liverpool have been particularly successful when it comes to signing their top transfer targets, but there was one player who slipped through their net this summer Dean Huijsen has been hailed as Real Madrid's signing of the century following his standout performances at the Club World Cup. The La Liga giants snapped up Huijsen from Bournemouth for a hefty £50million this summer, beating Liverpool to his signature. Spain international Huijsen had caught the eye of several Premier League clubs, with Anfield chiefs openly expressing their desire to recruit the ex-Roma defender. However, the 20-year-old had his heart set on playing at the Bernabeu. ‌ Despite Liverpool having a fruitful transfer window with the acquisitions of Jeremie Frimpong and Florian Wirtz, missing out on his signature has left their centre-back search to continue and will have come as a blow, especially after his stellar showings under Xabi Alonso in the USA. ‌ He has been an ever-present figure in Real Madrid 's line-up so far, completing 90 minutes in both Club World Cup matches and forming a solid partnership with academy graduate Raul Asencio. His performance was particularly noteworthy during the team's 3-1 win over Pachuca, where he stood firm even after Asencio's early sending off. Tomas Roncero, a pundit for Cadena SER, didn't hold back in his praise when he said Huijsen was the club's "signing of the century" in defence. Back in April, reports from the Mail suggested that Arne Slot was keen on a £95m double swoop for Huijsen and Milos Kerkez from Bournemouth The Reds are nearing a deal to secure Kerkez, yet they will probably feel the sting of Huijsen's choice to join Real. The ex-Juventus star recently told Real's club media team: "It's a dream come true for me. "I think every kid dreams of playing for Real Madrid. It's the greatest club in the world and I'm very happy and really proud to be here. "It's a great group and there's real togetherness in the dressing room. We're thrilled to have Xabi Alonso here as well. ‌ "I think he has loads of good ideas and we're going to have some great years together. We are Real Madrid. We have to win and I think we're going to do just that." Liverpool remain on the hunt to fortify their defence, with rumours swirling over an interest in Crystal Palace and England international Marc Guehi. The ex-Chelsea centre-back is entering the final year of his contract at Selhurst Park, putting Liverpool among other keen clubs in a favourable bargaining position. ‌ Should Guehi decide on a move to the Reds, he would become the third defensive reinforcement this summer. Strengthening the backline became essential following Trent Alexander-Arnold's switch to the Spanish capital. Frimpong was swiftly brought in as a direct successor. Additionally, Kerkez is set to challenge Andy Robertson for the left-back spot should his £40m move be completed, although Robertson himself has recently been linked with a transfer to Atletico Madrid. In the meantime, Spanish publication Marca has reported that Liverpool's central defender Ibrahima Konate is on Real's radar for the 2026/27 season. The Frenchman's contract is set to expire next year and there are fears that Los Blancos could swoop in and sign him at the end of his contract, much like they did with Alexander-Arnold this summer.

Cristiano Ronaldo makes 'very difficult' Lionel Messi claim with time almost up

Cristiano Ronaldo's deal with Al Nassr and the Portugal legend has been asked about the prospect of playing against Inter Miami star Lionel Messi before the end of his career Cristiano Ronaldo has not ruled out playing alongside long-time rival Lionel Messi before the end of his career, but has admitted it would be very difficult to do so, with time running out. The former Real Madrid and Manchester United superstar is set to see his contract with Al Nassr expire at the end of the month. Both Ronaldo, 40, and Messi, 37, are likely in the twilight years of their careers with the former playing in the Saudi Pro League and the latter in Major League Soccer with Inter Miami. Nevertheless Ronaldo finished as top goalscorer in his division, while Messi has 10 goals in his 12 starts this season. ‌ Seeing the GOAT contenders playing in the same colours appears unlikely even with Ronaldo possibly eyeing a fresh move however. Although, the ex-Juventus sharpshooter did find some interest from Argentina ahead of the Club World Cup in the United States. ‌ It is clear Ronaldo has respect for the nation and his adversary however. Asked about the prospect, Ronaldo provided a thoughtful answer. "You know I have a lot of affection for Argentina, my wife is from there," Ronaldo replied. "I have already been invited to play in the Club World Cup for an Argentine club. "You never know… the time is there. I am already 40 years old, but you never know. But I think it is very difficult. I have never been to Argentina, I want to go, I have a lot of affection for the Argentines. "And I have affection for Messi, we were rivals for many years, but I have already said that we were in that scenario for 15 years and I remember that before he didn't speak any English, I don't know if he does now. And I translated for him when they explained to us what we had to do at a gala. "I have affection for him, he has always treated me well and respected me as I respect him. I find it very difficult, but you never know." ‌ With less than a month remaining on Ronaldo's deal, there has been no shortage of speculation over his next step. To some degree, there was an expectation a deal would be set up to see him play in the Club World Cup, but Ronaldo has now suggested the possibility of that is noow over. "It's irrelevant, at this moment it doesn't make sense to talk about other things other than the national team," he said. "There have been a lot of contacts, I see things that make sense, others that don't, as the other guy says, you can't go to everything, you have to think short, medium and long term. "It's a decision that has practically been made on my part, which is not to go to the Club World Cup, but I've had a lot of invitations."
