I Use the 3-Hour Rule to Stay Organized, and It's a Total Game-Changer
This article may contain affiliate links that Yahoo and/or the publisher may receive a commission from if you buy a product or service through those links. Hosting large gatherings can seem overwhelming — especially when you're not sure where to begin. Do you clean before or after putting up decorations? And when should you start setting up? I'm someone who tends to overthink the timing of tasks and when they need to be completed. Fortunately, I've found a method that's really worked for me. I came up with the 'three-hour rule,' which is simply a process where I work backwards three hours from when my guests are expected to arrive. This practice gives me a cushion to get everything done, whether it's completing an errand or finding an outfit. Plus, it ensures that I don't feel anxious before the event and allows me to handle any last-minute challenges with ease. After experiencing the stress of last-minute preparations one too many times, I knew I needed to find a solution. I reflected on how the day typically goes when I'm hosting an event, which led me to think about how I managed my time. I realized that I naturally prepare three hours in advance, so I made this a non-negotiable rule moving forward. Here's how the three-hour rule can play out. If your guests are expected to arrive at 6 p.m., then you'll start preparing at 3 p.m. Based on what needs to be done, you can do whatever within that three-hour time frame. On a day where I have an event at 6 p.m., I will begin to prepare at 3 p.m. I start by finishing small tasks like setting up decorations. I'll also make sure that I have everything I need for the event by asking myself questions like, 'Did I buy the plates?' and 'Is there enough cheese and wine?' If the answer is no, I still have time to run out and grab anything I need. After this is done, I'll start to get dressed around 4:30 p.m. I know that it usually takes an hour for me to get ready, so being dressed by 5:30 the earliest is perfect in the event someone decides to show up on time (there's always one person!). By 5:45, I am all set and ready for guests to arrive. With this new routine, I don't feel anxious. I have everything I need and am able to successfully enjoy the evening. Before implementing this method I would normally lie around, thinking I had time all day to get ready, and then before I knew it 5 p.m. would roll around and I'd be panicking about when to begin to get ready. However, now that I know that I need an hour to get dressed and ready to go, I can have that time set instead of it cutting into my prep time. With this new method, I feel prepared. Because I'm essentially dividing my time up to focus on mini tasks, I can have a clear structure and finish everything in advance. This has become a game-changer for me, and it's helped me approach any event with confidence, knowing that I've given myself enough time to get everything done smoothly. I'll definitely be using it this holiday you end up using it, let me know in the comments how it worked for post originally appeared on Apartment Therapy. Openings: Waterside event center in Pasco + Kennewick's Slurpee King reimagined
An intriguing building perched above the Columbia River at the Port of Pasco's barge dock is now available for private gatherings. Wheelhouse Event Center, a partnership between Corina Manzano and Joey Jordan, renovated the vacant restaurant at 1350 S.E. Road 20 E., off Dock Street. Wheelhouse offers about 1,700-square feet and deck space next to the Columbia River for groups of up to 70 people. Manzano said it's already hosted a memorial service, small quinceanera celebration and has booked birthday parties, retirement gatherings and other groups. Manzano and Jordan will celebrate their new business with the Pasco Chamber of Commerce, which will hold a ribbon cutting and opening celebration from 3-6 pm., June 19. Manzano and Jordan both are Pasco natives and had long been intrigued by the deteriorating building that's practically over the water. It once housed a restaurant serving the marina area, but had fallen into disrepair. In it, they spied an opportunity to bring something fun to Pasco's east side that would complement the eventual development of homes and businesses at Osprey Pointe, which is nearby. They contacted the Port of Pasco, which owns it, about doing something. In time, the port advertised for contractors to repair the vacant structure. Manzano and Jordan both are general contractors. They submitted the lowest bid and jumped into the project. The building needed everything but a roof, Manzano said. They replaced floors, rebuilt walls, replaced the electrical and HVAC systems. The tore out the old restaurant kitchen, including walk-in refrigerator. They rebuilt bathrooms, constructed a kitchenette and repainted everything. They hope to eventually replace the aging docks. For now, they're in precarious condition and are off limits to guests. Follow Wheelhouse on Facebook @ A long-closed 7-Eleven once crowned the 'Slurpee King of the World' is reopening as Slushee King . The new business is owned by Gurjeet Bimal, a Walla Walla vape and convenience store operator. Bimal acquired the 2,500-square-foot former convenience at 3606 W. Clearwater Ave., under the name Bimal13 LLC. Property records indicate the $765,000 sale closed in 2023, about two years after 7-Eleven closed Building permits indicate Slushee King is giving the property a modest makeover with new kitchen, fire and other systems. A sign was posted at the store this spring. The former 7-Eleven was crowned 'Slurpee King of the World' in 2007 after beating out competitors in Detroit, Mich., and Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada, for the title, according to a report citing an industry publication. In addition to icy drinks, Slushee King will sell beer, deli items and tobacco and vape products. There is no business by that name listed in state corporation databases 'Slurpee' is a trademark owned by 7-Eleven Inc. Cafe Magnolia, the European style cafe, will leave its prominent spot at the Cynergy Centre in Kennewick for a newly-built space around the corner. Cafe Magnolia will move to 2403 S. Quillan St., it said on a Facebook post. Owner Nena Cosic aid they were planning to expand their current spot, 4309 W. 27th Place, Kennewick. They were concerned Cafe Magnolia would outgrow it. The new space will have almost 5,000 square feet, which will accommodate both a cafe and an event venue and catering. it is expected to open this fall.

Tanagra's Together in Bloom Edit Will Add a Touch of Spring to Your Home
A refined trio of table settings, each styled with the luxury boutique's signature brands, makes a compelling case for elevated get-togethers Hosting gatherings are an integral part of the cultural in the region, which makes adding little details even more important. Tanagra's new seasonal campaign, Together in Bloom, brings focus back to those small but meaningful intricacies, whether they are floral arrangements, layered tableware, or simply mastering the art of being hospitable. Running through May and June, the campaign involves three thoughtful scenes: Al Fresco Dining, Picnic Garden Gathering, and Springtime Tea Ritual. The star of each setting is Tanagra's specially curated homeware. There's the hand-finished beauty of Bernardaud's Augusta collection, which brings a refined French sensibility to the table, and Baccarat's Tulipe platters and bowls, which play with light and form in all the right ways. Ralph Lauren Home's Bailey collection adds a layer of rustic charm with its grounded, unfussy, yet distinctly elegant designs. Lalique's vases serve as centrepieces in more ways than one. For instance, the sculptural Merles et Raisins and iconic Bacchantes bring the floral storytelling to life, making even a few stems feel special. Additionally, Reflections Copenhagen's vibrant crystal pieces add a modern, almost playful contrast, sunlight bounces off their cut angles, casting colour across the table. Together in Bloom is another page in Tanagra's book of appreciating intricate pieces and connection. The luxury homeware boutique is all about choosing designs that hold meaning, tell stories, and bring people closer with an added touch of glamour to your space.
