Chelsea confirm Sam Kerr transfer - leaving football fans stunned
Chelsea have announced that Liverpool have completed the signing of Sam Kerr. In a tweet from the club's official X account, Chelsea announced that the Reds had finalised a permanent deal for Kerr. Luckily for Blues fans however, the tweet announcing the deal is not referring to Matildas captain who has plied her trade in west London since joining the club from the Chicago Red Stars in 2020. Instead, the post referred to Kerr's Scottish namesake, who completed a permanent move to Merseyside from German giants Bayern Munich after initially joining the club on loan in January. While the club admitted their joke just minutes later by sharing a screenshot of the new Liverpool signing accompanied with the caption, 'Ohhhhhh you thought…' many fans were still taken in by the ruse. One fan wrote: 'Stop it Admin, my heart stopped for a few secs' The club made the announcement in a post on their official social media channels on Friday The club then revealed that they were actually reporting on an entirely different Sam Kerr joining Liverpool from Bayern Munich Another agreed: 'Okay that was a stressful couple seconds not gonna lie!' A third joked: 'This is July!!! We are not in April anymore!!' Chelsea's Kerr the entirety of last season on the sidelines as she continues to recover from an ACL injury that has ruled her out since January of 2024. Kerr was recently spotted alongside her fiancee, former West Ham star Kristie Mewis. The pair have been dating since 2020 and welcomed a son, Jagger, in May of this year. The Scottish Kerr meanwhile made 11 Women's Super League appearances after joining Liverpool in January. The midfielder also scored her first goal for the club as the Reds defeated West Ham at the Chigwell Construction Stadium.

Shane Gillis shocks ESPYs crowd with joke on Jeffrey Epstein and Donald Trump
Shane Gillis made a jab at Donald Trump and Jeffrey Epstein during his opening monologue at the 2025 ESPYs on Wednesday (16 July). The comedian kicked off his hosting duties at the sporting awards with a scathing reference to the Department of Justice 's recent statement that there was 'no evidence' of a Jeffrey Epstein client list. He told a joke about the White House 's newly announced UFC fights on its ground, before stating: 'There was supposed to be an Epstein joke here but it must have got deleted.' 'Must have probably deleted itself. Probably never existed actually. Let's move on as a country and ignore that,' he said, appearing to reference Attorney General Pam Bondi earlier this year saying that the file was 'on her desk'.

Did Britney Spears adopt a baby or is she trolling Instagram?
Britney Spears caused a frenzy online when she seemingly announced she had adopted a baby girl. On Monday, the 'Toxic' singer raised eyebrows with an Instagram post with a captioned that said, among other things, 'I want to let you guys know I adopted a beautiful baby girl.' Spears paired the message with a video of herself dancing and 3 winking emojis. 'Her name is Lennon London Spears,' she added. However, sources close to Spears say the Grammy-winning singer has not adopted a daughter and that the 'announcement' was a harmless joke. Along with her bit, Spears also wrote, 'Lennon today has on adorable dress !!! It says I'm NEW HERE !!!' she said with laughing emojis. Many fans speculated that she may have been sharing that she was adopting a dog, but sources told TMZ she in fact didn't adopt a fur baby either. Spears' post also claimed she has plans to move to Italy, but it turns out that's not happening either. While Spears hasn't adopted any new children, she recently had her first visit in quite some time with her 18-year-old son Jayden, whom she shares with ex-husband Kevin Federline. They also share 18-year-old son Shawn Preston Federline. After years of separation, Spears and her youngest spent last Christmas together. 'Best Christmas of my life,' Spears captioned an Instagram post at the time. 'I haven't seen my boys in 2 years !!! Tears of joy and literally in shock everyday koo koo crazy so in love and blessed !!! I'm speechless thank you Jesus !!!' The 43-year-old shared another post later that month gushing about the reunion and calling Jayden a 'miracle.' 'He came back and he feels older and smarter than me,' Spears wrote. 'He's a man and I cry everyday of my life because of the miracle and genius he is !!!' _____

Ayo Edebiri really committed to a joke about being Irish and Conan O'Brien loves it
Conan O'Brien loves a good bit. Ayo Edebiri has given him a great one. 'The Bear' star began a joke back in March 2023 at the South by Southwest in which she pretended to be Irish. Edebiri kept it up, claiming she played the role of Jenny the donkey in the Ireland-set film, 'The Banshees of Inisherin.' 'I wanted to congratulate you, because you started this joke which you improvised, a joke about being Irish, and then you kept going,' O'Brien told Edebiri during a recent conversation on his 'Conan O' Brien Needs a Friend' podcast. 'There's this crucial point where a joke either becomes like, 'Okay that's enough, I've done it enough, I should stop,' or you double, triple, and quadruple down on it and refuse to let it go, which you did,' he continued. 'Now it has resonated so much that the people of Ireland have accepted you as one of their own, which they will not do with me.' O'Brien said he has the opposite impact with the people of Ireland. 'I am this figure of great shame in Ireland,' he quipped. 'But you, you got a day in Boston, and you're revered by the Irish people,' he said. 'I am rightfully loathed by the Irish and never a day in Boston.' Edebiri explained how it all came about. 'I remember talking about this with a friend. I was like, 'My favorite type of joke low-key might be a lie,'' she said. 'Like, something where it's almost not even funny, it's mostly just funny to me.' Edebiri, who like O'Brien is from Boston, tried to encourage him and said, 'I think your day could come.'
