Why Jenna Bush Hager Hates the Term ‘Mom Friends'
Jenna Bush Hager doesn't care for the label 'mom friends.' 'Some of my best 'mom friends' — which I sort of hate that term because it implies they're not my true friends — but some of my best mom friends are from the time I had my 12 year old,' Jenna told her TODAY with Jenna & Friends co-host Dwyane Wade on July 11. Jenna and her husband Henry Hager share daughters Mila, 12, and Poppy, 9 and son Hal, 5. 'We were all in this baby group together,' continued Jenna. 'One of my best friends in the world, we met through the baby group and now we have pre-teens. So, to go through every stage of life together? I think it is necessary to have that community.' Wade, a former NBA star, agreed. 'Especially for your kids,' said Wade. 'Once they get their friends ... you have to have a relationship with their parents. One, for them to allow their kids to come over or vice versa, but also two, if their parents are going to come over.' Wade and his wife Gabrielle Union share 6-year-old daughter Kaavia. The athlete is also a father to three other children from a previous relationship and the legal guardian of an adult nephew. 'We've got to be into them,' said Jenna, referring to the parents of her kids' friends. 'Something — or, I'm just not going to ever be around for playdates,' joked Wade. According to the American Psychological Association, friendship can protect against loneliness and depression, while lowering blood pressure and increasing overall life span. Shared experiences, such as parenting for example, may also enhance life. One study found that when people partook in an experience together, they rated it more highly than they would if they embarked on it alone. This article was originally published on

Jenna Bush Hager Hates the Term 'Mom Friends': Here's Why
Jenna Bush Hager Hates the Term 'Mom Friends': Here's Why originally appeared on Parade. Jenna Bush Hager admitted she isn't a fan of the term "mom friends," and she revealed the reason why during the Friday, July 11, episode of The Today Show. While talking to guest co-host Dwyane Wade during the Jenna & Friends segment, the duo discussed their friends who have children. "Some of my best 'mom friends' — which I sort of hate that term because it implies they're not my true friends — but some of my best mom friends are from the time I had my 12-year-old," Bush Hager, 43, said, referring to her eldest daughter, Mila. In addition to Mila, Bush Hager also shares daughter Poppy, 9, and son Hal, 5, with her husband, Henry Chase Hager. Bush Hager explained that when she first had Mila, she was part of a "baby group" with some mom friends. She insisted that the friendships were genuine, and she said one person in the group is still one of her "best friends in the world." "Now we have pre-teens, and so to go through every stage of life together? I think it is necessary to have that community," she said. Wade, 43, agreed with Bush Hager. "Especially for your kids. Once they get their friends, these playdates [are] big in the world now, obviously, right? So you have to have a relationship with their parents," the father of five said. "One, for them to allow their kids to come over or vice versa, but also two, if their parents are going to come over, [you got to get along]," the retired athlete continued. Boy Mom Ellie Kemper Reveals Why She's Ignoring All the Experts While Doing This With Her 2 Sons
Ellie Kemper is telling it like it is once again. This time, she gave super-rare details about being a boy mom in an interview with Parents. Not only that, but she talked about how she isn't paying attention to the parenting experts when it comes to planning summer with her growing sons. 'I'm looking forward to having not as much structure,' she said. 'I know that all the parenting experts tell me that structure is key, and I agree with that to a point.' More from SheKnows Halle Berry & Her Rarely-Seen Son Maceo Are Bouncing for Joy in an Enchanting Summertime Video She added, 'But I think it's also nice to let some of the structure slide during the summer, which is sort of natural.' However, this may not be what she sticks to halfway through summer! In the same interview, The Office alum talked about how her and her husband's parenting style is ever-evolving, saying, 'While my husband and I have rules and boundaries and structure in place, I've learned that I need to ease up on certain things. So, it's kind of something that I'm constantly refining.' Back in 2012, Kemper and comedy writer Michael Koman got engaged, and married that same year. They have two sons, James, born in Aug 2016, and Matthew, born in Sept 2019. In a recent chat with Kemper during Kohl's Evening with Ellie! dinner, she talked about her motherly habits. 'It is very important to stay grounded,' she said. 'I would say one habit that I really lean into is leaning on my mom friends. I think that it takes a village to get this done.
