Josh Bell and Daylen Lile lead Nationals in 10-8 win over Reds

Josh Bell homered, and Daylen Lile hit a three-run triple as the Washington Nationals defeated the Cincinnati Reds 10-8 on Monday night, marking their most significant offensive performance since July 3. They have secured three victories in their last 13 games. Lile cleared the bases in a four-run first, and Bell hit his 12th solo homer in a three-run third to establish a 7-0 lead. The Nationals amassed 15 hits, including six extra-base hits, with James Wood contributing two doubles. Brady House and Jacob Young each recorded three hits. The Reds responded with four consecutive RBI singles in a five-run fourth inning, prompting the removal of Nationals starter Jake Irvin. Andrew Chafin (1-0), the fourth of seven Nationals pitchers, earned the win with a hitless sixth inning. Reds starter Brady Singer (7-8) lasted only 2 1/3 innings, allowing seven runs on five hits and two walks. Six Reds relievers contributed six more walks and 10 hits. Noelvi Marte and Gavin Lux each tallied two hits and two RBIs for the Reds. The first five Nationals reached base in the opening inning before Lile delivered his bases-clearing triple into the right-field corner. The Reds had not allowed more than four runs in any of their previous eight games (17 runs total), but a four-run first and a three-run third by Washington ended that streak. Up next, Reds RHP Chase Burns (0-1, 6.19) will face Nationals RHP Brad Lord (2-5, 3.46) on Tuesday night.
