'All ways lead to Rome': Street posters cause controversy in Syria

ALBAWABA - A mysterious advertisement, apparently for a restaurant opening in the Syrian city of Aleppo, has sparked fear and controversy in a country that has been experiencing security incidents, bombings, and kidnappings for months, some of them sectarian, religious, or even religious. The story began when posters were seen on public walls in the city bearing the phrase "All roads lead to Rome," without any further details revealing whether they were advertising posters. The placement of some of these posters in a neighborhood of Aleppo, mainly inhabited by Christians, sparked conflicting interpretations and concerns after two young men were spotted placing the posters on a wall in the Aziziyah neighborhood late at night. Syrian bloggers believed the posters were directed at the Christian population, posing a threat to them and urging them to leave Syria for Rome. Another group said the poster may represent an armed faction, while others called on the authorities to open an investigation into the posters. Many rumors emerged on social media following the ad shared by Syrians, before it became clear that they were advertisements for a restaurant opening in the city called "Roma."

Is it finally time to quit ‘The Bear'? Let's discuss.

TV's most serious comedy returned this week with 10 episodes depicting the dysfunctional lives of modern Chicagoans working in a professional kitchen. In its fourth season, 'The Bear' finds its characters working through many of the same problems that were introduced when the Emmy-winning series launched on FX a few years ago: money woes, mommy issues, communication breakdowns — and that's all before you get to the actual challenges of running a functional restaurant.

A new McDonald's restaurant is coming to Pace. Here's where

A new McDonald's is coming to Pace after Santa Rosa County approved the chain's proposal to build one of its signature restaurants on the corner of Berryhill Road and King George Parkway. The fast-food chain was approved in early June to build a 3,849-square-foot restaurant along with two drive-through lanes and 46 parking spaces that'll be located next to an incoming Wawa. The future restaurant will be built on a 2.2-acre lot in between Wawa's site and another plot of land that's zoned for commercial use, which does not have an occupant set at this time. This McDonald's will be located at 4164 Berryhill Road and it'll be connected to its neighbors through their parking lots. There will be two entrances and one exit into the restaurant that will each be accessible from Berryhill Road. Motorists using King George Parkway will be able to access McDonald's by entering Wawa's lot. Wawa expansion: What's happening with Wawa's expansion into Escambia, Santa Rosa counties? The site plans for this proposal were filed with Santa Rosa County in April and the project was approved on June 6. Developers submitted updated plans for the incoming McDonald's in May after receiving feedback from county officials earlier that month. ‘The Bear' Season 4: Here Are the Cameos

'The Bear' returned for its fourth season this week, including plenty of high-stakes restaurant drama along with another series trademark: high-wattage cameos. The 10 episodes are packed with surprise guests from both the food world and Hollywood. There is a master sommelier who appears to offer advice about wine pairings. There is an Oscar winner who stirs up chaos at a wedding. These celebrities drop in amid the continuing story of the tormented wunderkind chef Carmy Berzatto (Jeremy Allen White) and his fine dining restaurant in his hometown Chicago. The new season opens with Carmy and his crew — including his professional partner, Sydney (Ayo Edebiri), and family friend-turned-colleague Richie (Ebon Moss-Bachrach) — reeling from a mediocre review. There is a new ticking clock indicating how long before the Bear's money runs out. There is also a big wedding and emotional reconciliations. Here's who pops up throughout the journey. In the second episode, the Bear's sommelier, Gary (Corey Hendrix), heads to the Chicago restaurant Alpana to meet with the proprietor, Alpana Singh. If you want to learn about wine, she is a good person to consult: Singh is the youngest woman ever to pass the master sommelier exam. Gary is having trouble figuring out pairings because Carmy constantly changes the menu. Singh tells him Pinot Noir is a 'sommelier's best friend.' She also offers the handy tip that you can drink red wine with fish, explaining that it's not the redness that gets in the way, it's the tannins. If you can see through a red wine, it should go well with fish. (Something to keep in mind for your next dinner party.) The only stable part of the Bear's business is the sandwich window. (Maybe Carmy should have just focused on serving great Italian beef instead of opening up a wildly ambitious fine dining restaurant!) Ebraheim (Edwin Lee Gibson), who runs the sandwich operation, has big ideas for expansion and a new mentor to help him: Albert, played by Rob Reiner, the director of classics like 'When Harry Met Sally …' and 'A Few Good Men.' (Reiner is also a TV veteran, as the former Meathead from 'All in the Family.') Albert, who appears throughout the season, is a tough talker who wants to franchise out the beef operation — hopefully he's as good of a businessman as he makes himself out to be.
