"Travis Scott had posted me on his story" - Caitlin Clark on the moment she realized she became a superstar
"Travis Scott had posted me on his story" - Caitlin Clark on the moment she realized she became a superstar originally appeared on Basketball Network. Today, Caitlin Clark is recognized worldwide, earning millions each year. But her rise to superstardom still feels surreal at times. Growing up in Des Moines, Iowa, Clark never imagined a life where hip-hop icons and basketball legends would know her name. Yet, every so often, she needs to pinch herself to believe it's all real. During her appearance on the "A Touch More" podcast, she talked about a few of these moments that solidified her status as a bona fide star. Travis Scott knew who she was Clark was no ordinary freshman when she arrived on Iowa's campus. She immediately established herself as one of the best players in the country, averaging 26.6 points, 5.9 rebounds and 7.1 assists per game. Apart from individual accolades, she also helped bring the Hawkeyes to the Sweet 16 of the NCAA Tournament, where they lost to Paige Bueckers and the UConn Huskies, 92-72. Despite her 21 points and five dimes, Iowa couldn't overcome the stacked UConn squad. However, she received the surprise of her life once she returned to the locker room and accessed her phone. "I remember Travis Scott had posted me on his story," she said, referring to the successful rapper and fashion icon. "And I like got back to my phone and like everyone was texting me. I'm like, 'Yeah, I have no idea why he did that.' Like I'm like, 'That's super cool.'" As awesome as that was for Clark, she acknowledged how things really blew up after her scintillating performance in the Elite Eight of the 2023 NCAA Tournament against Louisville. "I think I had 41 like 10 and 12 or something like that. But that was like the moment I really felt like things were really starting to change," she said of that 97-83 win against the Cardinals. "Like the amount of people that took notice that were just like, you know, celebrities or like you guys or other basketball players in the basketball world."The only time Clark got starstruck Clark, now a celebrity herself, revealed that she no longer feels starstruck when mingling with other famous figures. However, she admits there's one person who's an exception to the rule: LeBron James. In fact, she went on record to say she had butterflies in her stomach when she met James in person for the first time earlier this year. "I think the one person that like really like made me starstruck probably was LeBron 'cause like LeBron was a person that I grew up like absolutely loving," Clark revealed. "Like he was like my Michael Jordan 'cause I was younger and like that's the person that I always looked up to." "Even throughout and Steph even those like at the end of my college career, they began to like comment on some things as I was ending my career and then now professionally. But I feel like I still have a lot of those moments and it doesn't always feel real 'cause you know I feel very lucky and fortunate," she added. Life has indeed changed for Clark. In four short years, she has gone from being a high school prodigy who dominated opponents at Dowling to being on a first-name basis with some of the biggest names in story was originally reported by Basketball Network on Jul 23, 2025, where it first appeared.

Kendrick and SZA: Like seeing Prince and Madonna together in their prime
Imagine if Prince and Madonna had toured together in their prime, duetting and interacting over two-and-a-half hours of blockbuster, hi-tech stadium entertainment. In contemporary terms, that is the scale this superstar double bill represents, bringing together Kendrick Lamar, modern pop's most gifted rapper, with SZA, alternative R&B's most sassy and emotive singer-songwriter. Yet even that Prince-Madonna comparison doesn't really do justice to the almost polar disparity between these two stars. They are so stylistically different, it is more akin to seeing a young Bob Dylan attacking his wordiest epics while Tina Turner shimmies around bringing showbiz heat. Lamar is fierce, dark, stark and serious, an outrageously gifted wordsmith with an undercurrent of socio-political anger whose dazzlingly supreme rap skills have carried him to the top in a genre built on battling. He has the intensity and flow of Eminem combined with the depth and righteous charisma of Tupac Shakur, and a certain cerebral artiness that is all his own. His parts of the set were styled in shades of concrete, imposing visions of black, white and grey projected on to giant screens with a Soviet era quality of gloomy brutalism, his grey-uniformed dancers performing rigidly militaristic choreography. SZA, by contrast, is soft-edged and richly musical, with a fluttery high voice and sensuous persona that only slightly cushion the sharp lyrical stabs of her frequently rather rude songs about the travails of modern dating. Her biggest hit, Kill Bill, is a deceptively sweet nursery rhyme about murdering her ex, and it appeared to have every woman in Tottenham Stadium singing along in sympathetic delight. Screens burst with the colours and images of nature every time SZA appeared, bringing much-needed relief after Lamar's visual austerity. Lamar can be easier to admire than to love and benefited hugely from the lightness that SZA brought to his shade. Uncharacteristically, he could even be seen smiling during their frequent, flirty duets – half a dozen songs in a cleverly designed set that underlined their contrasting personalities with bold stage design, while pyrotechnics turned the sky above the stadium black with smoke. SZA was accompanied by a live band, though they remained hidden behind giant LED screens, a sign of how far actual musicians have fallen down the pecking order in pop performances. Like most rappers, Lamar stuck rigidly to pre-recorded backing tracks which restricted spontaneity. The stadium sound was a challenge – all booming bass, thin drums and echoing vocals: if you didn't already know every lyric, Lamar sometimes came across as a tiny figure snapping rhythmically but unintelligibly in the centre of a huge roaring crowd. But it all went off spectacularly for his biggest hits, including a version of his brutal put-down of superstar rapper Drake, Not Like Us, that was so loud one fears Drake himself might have been able to hear it from Birmingham, the latest stop on his own UK tour. In an era of overpriced live entertainment, the Grand National tour, as this spectacular is being billed, offers plenty of bang for your buck. Lamar may be the higher-ranking superstar, but SZA brought more in terms of musical variety, character and spontaneity, and could count on the singalong support of her devoted female fans to tip the balance in her favour. I am not saying she stole the show, but she made it all go down so much sweeter than Lamar ever could have managed on his own. What unlikely team-up can we expect next? After all, as Noel and Liam Gallagher are currently proving, you don't even have to like each other much to share a stage.

Rival club's move to sign Broncos' talent as Sharks gun makes call on re-signing
The Broncos may have a battle on their hands to find the next superstar with the Warriors opening up a base in their rugby league heartland, while in-form dummy-half Blayke Brailey has admitted he wants to remain at the Cronulla Sharks. Warriors fans have enjoyed watching their side climb to fourth on the ladder in 2025 with their youngsters leading the way in a stellar season. And it appears the Warriors want to target the Broncos' feeder grounds for emerging talent as they prepare to open a base in Logan. The New Zealand-based club has watched plenty of their junior talents join Australian-based clubs on scholarships as they move through the system. The Logan Brothers have produced a number of NRL superstars across the years, but few of them have ever played for the Warriors. This is despite Southeast Queensland enjoying a strong population of New Zealand-born migrants. And the Warriors were losing these New-Zealand born stars to the surrounding teams with no easy pathway to bring them home. Naturally, there are more pathways into rugby league in Australia and players from New Zealand have made the move over to find an opportunity. Benji Marhsall is one of them, who moved to Queensland as a junior and was recognised as a star. He then went through the Wests Tigers system. And the club has moved to give locals a chance to join the Warriors juniors. The Warriors are aiming to identify the talent in the area and provide them an alternative pathway into the NRL through their system. "As a club, we focus on the person first and foremost. It's not just about footy – it's about providing opportunities to all young people so they can reach their potential," Warriors CEO George Cameron said. "Our elite academy for boys and girls in Logan will provide a direct pathway to the Warriors NRL and NRLW teams. Through the community program we'll also be offering come-and-try days, school visits and talent identification." The Brisbane Broncos have been the side that has benefited the most from having a rugby league mad town feeding them superstars, but the likes of the the Cowboys, Titans and most recently the Dolphins have all benefited. Now the Warriors will be looking to snare the next Cameron Smith or Corey Parker - who both played for Logan Brothers juniors - as rugby league gets bigger in New Zealand. RELATED: Latrell Mitchell moment says it all as Souths rocked by another injury Broncos sign 'next Benji Marshall' from rival NRL club's backyard Blayke Brailey looking to remain in Cronulla Meanwhile, the Sharks are beginning new contract negotiations with No.9 Brailey who signalled his intention to remain with the club. Brailey debuted for the Sharks in 2019 and has developed as a potential Origin star of the future. And the Sharks dummy-half is enjoying his best season so far having produced another player-of-the-match performance on the weekend against the Roosters. And while Brailey would attract plenty of attention if he was to leave, the 26-year-old has given Sharks fans a huge boost and claimed he wants to remain in Cronulla. "I have never thought about (playing against Cronulla)," Brailey said. "I love this club, I love this area. I grew up here. I was there when Gal lifted the trophy in 2016 and I want to be back there. I played on the family hill here at Shark Park. To me this place is home and hopefully the club sees that too. This is definitely home for me." The Sharks have jumped back into the top eight after the win over the Roosters and Brailey broke open the game. Brailey has been focusing on his running-game from dummy-half across the last two months and the 26-year-old admitted the shift in focus has been instrumental in his form. "I have put a lot more pressure on myself to run, it is a non-negotiable for me now," Brailey said. "It is obviously working well for us when I do run we get on the front foot and it does make our side flow a bit better." The Sharks take on the Rabbitohs this weekend and a win could be a huge step into cementing finals footy come the end of the year.
