"Travis Scott had posted me on his story" - Caitlin Clark on the moment she realized she became a superstar
Today, Caitlin Clark is recognized worldwide, earning millions each year. But her rise to superstardom still feels surreal at times.
Growing up in Des Moines, Iowa, Clark never imagined a life where hip-hop icons and basketball legends would know her name. Yet, every so often, she needs to pinch herself to believe it's all real.
During her appearance on the "A Touch More" podcast, she talked about a few of these moments that solidified her status as a bona fide star.
Travis Scott knew who she was
Clark was no ordinary freshman when she arrived on Iowa's campus. She immediately established herself as one of the best players in the country, averaging 26.6 points, 5.9 rebounds and 7.1 assists per game. Apart from individual accolades, she also helped bring the Hawkeyes to the Sweet 16 of the NCAA Tournament, where they lost to Paige Bueckers and the UConn Huskies, 92-72.
Despite her 21 points and five dimes, Iowa couldn't overcome the stacked UConn squad. However, she received the surprise of her life once she returned to the locker room and accessed her phone.
"I remember Travis Scott had posted me on his story," she said, referring to the successful rapper and fashion icon. "And I like got back to my phone and like everyone was texting me. I'm like, 'Yeah, I have no idea why he did that.' Like I'm like, 'That's super cool.'"
As awesome as that was for Clark, she acknowledged how things really blew up after her scintillating performance in the Elite Eight of the 2023 NCAA Tournament against Louisville.
"I think I had 41 like 10 and 12 or something like that. But that was like the moment I really felt like things were really starting to change," she said of that 97-83 win against the Cardinals. "Like the amount of people that took notice that were just like, you know, celebrities or like you guys or other basketball players in the basketball world."The only time Clark got starstruck
Clark, now a celebrity herself, revealed that she no longer feels starstruck when mingling with other famous figures. However, she admits there's one person who's an exception to the rule: LeBron James.
In fact, she went on record to say she had butterflies in her stomach when she met James in person for the first time earlier this year.
"I think the one person that like really like made me starstruck probably was LeBron 'cause like LeBron was a person that I grew up like absolutely loving," Clark revealed. "Like he was like my Michael Jordan 'cause I was younger and like that's the person that I always looked up to."
"Even throughout and Steph even those like at the end of my college career, they began to like comment on some things as I was ending my career and then now professionally. But I feel like I still have a lot of those moments and it doesn't always feel real 'cause you know I feel very lucky and fortunate," she added.
Life has indeed changed for Clark. In four short years, she has gone from being a high school prodigy who dominated opponents at Dowling to being on a first-name basis with some of the biggest names in sports. This story was originally reported by Basketball Network on Jul 23, 2025, where it first appeared.

The studio previously teased that 'something brand new is coming,' sharing a first glimpse at the superhero uniform on Friday, marking the 63rd anniversary of the character's first comic book appearance. In October, Sony added the follow-up to Spider-Man: No Way Home (2021) to its summer 2026 schedule, later revealing the title in March at CinemaCon. 'I'm obviously over the moon and so excited,' Holland previously said. 'Playing Spider-Man is like hanging out with an old pal. And I think we were really restricted with what we could do in the last movie because of COVID; we shot the entire film on stages.' Holland continued, 'Now, we're really gonna lean into that old-school filmmaking and shoot in real locations, which is why we're starting in Glasgow and we're gonna use the streets of Glasgow to build this massive set-piece that we're putting together. So it's gonna feel like making [2017's] Spider-Man 1 again. Zendaya will reprise her role as MJ, with production expected to commence after she and Holland both have completed filming Christopher Nolan's The Odyssey. Trailer For REALM OF SATAN a Very Borning Documentary About Modern Satanism — GeekTyrant
Monument Releasing has released the trailer for Realm of Satan , Scott Cummings' documentary that dives deep into the world of Satanism, and it's not what you'd expect. The film premiered at Sundance earlier this year and I watched it, but it was a very borning and completely uninteresting film. There's definitly nothing exciting about modern satanism. Not like the wild tales we;'ve heard from the 70s and 80s! The documentary takes viewers inside the controversial Realm of Satan church, offering a close look at Satanists' daily lives as well as their rituals and beliefs. According to the official description, the film 'captures Satanists in both the everyday and the extraordinary, revealing their mystical world of magic, mystery, and misanthropy.' Cummings approaches the subject with an artistic len: 'Cummings crafts each frame like a painting to allow the wild, elegant, and dynamic world of Satanists to unfold on screen.' The project features figures like Peter Gilmore, Blanche Barton, and Peggy Nadramia, key names associated with the Church of Satan. It's produced by Pacho Velez ( Searchers, The American Sector ), Caitlin Mae Burke ( We Could Be King ), and Molly Gandour ( GasLand ). Cummings expressed excitement about the theatrical rollout: 'I'm thrilled to be working with Monument on the theatrical release of Realm of Satan. The movie theater is a magical space, and this film demands that singular experience. 'Monument has stood behind and celebrated the uniqueness of this film and I am thrilled to bring audiences into our spell together. I have been a Mubi subscriber and cheerleader since their earliest day and found some of my favorite modern films through their impeccable curatorial vision. I couldn't think of a better and more exciting partner to work with.' The movie will make its U.S. theatrical debut on July 17th in Philadelphia, followed by runs at New York's Nitehawk (Prospect Park) and Metrograph. After its limited release, it hits digital platforms on September 2 and later lands exclusively on MUBI starting October 3 for U.S. and Canadian subscribers.
