Ten girls taken to hospital after being pricked by ‘man with syringe' at French music festival as one arrested

AROUND ten girls were reportedly pricked by a man with a syringe during a French musical festival. The incident is said to have unfolded in Metz on Friday, when over 50,000 flocked to celebrate World Music Day, Le Républicain Lorrain reports. 2 The girls - most reportedly minors - were targeted by one or more people at around 10pm, according to the local outlet. The alleged attacks happened between two popular spots in the city centre, Place de la République and Place Saint-Jacques. Firefighters at the event quickly tended to the girls, who were then rushed to hospital "for analysis", according to Metz mayor François Grosdidier. A man was arrested by local cops in connection with the incidents. He was taken to the police station to be interviewed. Grosdidier estimated that a crowd of 50,000 packed the city centre, adding: "It's Saturday night and it's still hot… There are a lot of people, people everywhere, in all the city centre streets." Police remained on duty throughout the night following the incident. It comes as a school girl was stabbed to death by a 15-year-old student who went on a knife rampage at a school in the French city of Nantes. The attacker, wearing black clothing and a balaclava, also stabbed three other students who were rushed to hospital. When armed cops arrived at the scene, the attacker reportedly shouted "shoot me in the head" before being handcuffed and taken away. School knife horror leaves girl dead and three students injured in France The suspect was named as Justin P. by French newspaper Le Parisien. Just hours earlier, an anonymous email is said to have gone around the school speaking of a "revolt". The manifesto, reportedly seen by Le Parisien, spoke about eco issues. Meanwhile, a teaching assistant was stabbed to death by a teenage student over a week ago. The 31-year-old was stabbed several times outside the Françoise Dolto school, in north-east France. She tragically died in hospital as a result of her injuries. A 14-year-old pupil was arrested on suspicion of fatally stabbing the teacher who was leading a bag search outside the school at the time. The victim - identified only as Melanie G - was mum to a four-year-old boy and has been described by locals as "adorable" with a "caring nature". 2

TTC streetcar briefly taken out of service after syringe was found sticking out from seat

An image of the syringe jutting out from underneath a TTC streetcar seat, seen Saturday morning. A syringe was seen sticking out from underneath a TTC streetcar seat over the weekend, prompting the transit network to take the car out of service to thoroughly clean it. The incident happened at around 11 a.m. Saturday onboard a 501 Queen streetcar heading eastbound, according to a Reddit user. The streetcar rider posted pictures of the syringe, needle pointing outward, underneath the red felt seat. The user, who asked to remain anonymous, told CTV News Toronto that they quickly noticed the syringe after boarding the streetcar with their friend, who was sitting in the seat beside it. Syringe under streetcar seat The TTC says they took the streetcar out of service for cleaning, and safely disposed of the syringe after they learned of it. They said they notified two TTC officials at the time but the streetcar remained operational and the syringe was not disposed in the duration of their trip. The user adds they formally reported the incident hours later via text. A spokesperson for the TTC said the incident was reported through the SafeTTC App. 'The streetcar was immediately taken out of service and returned to the carhouse, where the syringe was safely disposed of and the car thoroughly cleaned,' Stuart Green said, adding they did not receive any reports of physical injury. While incidents like these can be unsettling, Green says they are 'rare' across the transit network 'given how many vehicles are in service at any time.' 'While we don't know how this got there or what it was used for, we can assure customers that as soon as something like this is seen, reported, or discovered, we immediately take the vehicle out of service and do a full cleanup,' Green added. Transit riders are encouraged to notify TTC staff—either in person or through the SafeTTC App—or press the yellow strip if there is something they wish to report.

Streetcar 'thoroughly cleaned' after syringe spotted poking out under seat, TTC says

The Toronto Transit Committee (TTC) says a streetcar was thoroughly cleaned after a rider spotted a syringe without a cap jutting out from underneath a seat. The incident happened on Saturday around 11 a.m. on a 501 Queen streetcar that was travelling eastbound, according to the user who posted an image of the incident on Reddit, where it received hundreds of comments. The user, who asked to remain anonymous, said they informed two TTC officials who were on the streetcar as soon as they saw the syringe. The syringe was not moved or dealt with at the time, and the streetcar remained operational. The user then later reported the incident online. TTC spokesperson Stuart Green said the incident was reported through the SafeTTC app. "The streetcar was immediately taken out of service and returned to the carhouse, where the syringe was safely disposed of and the car thoroughly cleaned," he said in an email to CBC Toronto on Monday. The TTC has not received any reports of injury related to the incident, he said. Green said incidents like this "are rare on transit given how many vehicles are in service at any time." "While we don't know how this got there or what it was used for, we can assure customers that as soon as something like this is seen, reported or discovered, we immediately take the vehicle out of service and do a full cleanup," he said.

Man accused of spraying bodily fluids on women in Walmart; bond increased to $250K

Graphic warning: Some details in this story may be disturbing to some readers. A Gastonia man is behind bars after being accused of assaulting women inside a Walmart. Channel 9's Glenn Counts spoke with one victim who said Thomas Snyder sprayed his bodily fluids on her. Snyder appeared in court Friday afternoon after his charges were upgraded to aggravated assault. 'I don't know what kind of sick, twisted stuff that is. It makes me feel unsafe,' the victim said. Her incident took place in February, while the others occurred in March and May. 'It has kind of left a mental scar on me,' she said. According to prosecutors, all of the women were assaulted inside the Walmart on North Myrtle School Road, with each of them being sprayed with semen from a syringe. 'I was getting some tortilla chips, and all of a sudden, you feel something kind of wet on your back. And you're like, 'What in the world is going on?' And then all of a sudden this crazy guy with a syringe is just squirting stuff out, and you don't know what kind of liquid it is,' the woman explained. Prosecutor Josh Warner said Snyder was also recording the incidents. 'They discovered multiple videos of that conduct had been recorded with multiple different victims and may have been disseminated to multiple different people using messaging apps on the defendant's phone,' said Warner. Snyder has been charged with disseminating obscenity. And while he didn't say much in court, he did defend himself against that charge. 'I know it doesn't make any difference now, but I do want the court to know that those videos never went to anybody else,' said Snyder. ' The Gastonia Police Department is crediting their quick actions that resulted in Snyder's arrest last Friday. 'No one should have to endure such an invasive and traumatic experience while simply going about his or her daily life shopping in a store,' the department said in a statement. The victim told Channel 9 that the experience has left her worried about her health. 'Oh yeah, I told them I wanted to be further tested to make sure he didn't have any type of disease because I come home and I'm around my kids,' the victim said. Prosecutors said they believe investigators will find more victims once they finish looking through Snyder's phone. Snyder's bond was originally $100,000, but the judge has since raised it to $250,000. VIDEO: 'Flammable liquid' splashed on students during fight at Charlotte high school, CMS says
