New Jersey man charged with attempted homicide after pouring gasoline on woman, police say

A South Jersey man is charged with attempted murder and terroristic threats after pouring gasoline on a woman and threatening to light her on fire, police said. Franklin Township police said 54-year-old Dominic Polidori then barricaded himself inside a home on the 200 block of Northwest Boulevard in Newfield Borough for over five hours on Friday before he was taken into custody. Investigators said Polidori was charged with attempted murder and terroristic threats and will be held in the Salem County Correctional Facility. Franklin Township police responded to the home on Northwest Boulevard just before 5:30 a.m. after hearing a man had poured gasoline on a woman and was threatening to set her on fire. Police arrived and spoke with the woman, who said Polidori had dumped gasoline on her, grabbed a lighter, and threatened to light her and the home on fire. Investigators surrounded the home and tried to talk to Polidori as he was barricaded inside the home, but were ultimately unable to. The Gloucester County SWAT Team joined the investigation around 7 a.m. and took Polidori into custody around 12:15 p.m., according to police. Power was shut off for 300 homes in the area, and South Jersey Gas disabled service to 25 homes due to the possibility of hazardous materials inside the Northwest Boulevard home. Services have since been restored, and the road is reopened as well. The case is being investigated by the Franklin Township Police Department and the Gloucester County Prosecutor's Office.

Police: Old Forge man threatened other man with baseball bat

An Old Forge man who threatened another man with a baseball bat is charged with making terroristic threats and criminal mischief, according to a criminal complaint. Darren Damian Brojakowski, 23, 432 S. Main St., repeatedly swung a bat at another man's door and threatened to damage his car, police said. According to the criminal complaint: Just after midnight Thursday, Old Forge police responded to a residence on South Main Street for the report of a man threatening another man with a baseball bat from outside his front door. Officers spoke with Jimmy Gonzalez, who said Brojakowski came to his door and ordered him to send out his stepson. Gonzalez said the man, later identified as Brojakowski, repeatedly struck his front door causing damage. Brojakowski then walked to the end of the steps near a parking lot and inquired as to what vehicle was his, threatening to strike it if Gonzalez didn't have his stepson come outside. Officers then spoke with the stepson, who said he was walking outside while on his cellphone near Arcaro and Genell restaurant when he saw two women walking nearby. He told police he walked in their direction, but didn't say anything to them and didn't run toward them. As he was walking home, two men began chasing him. Once at his residence, one of the men started banging on the door, damaging it and threatening his stepfather if he didn't have his stepson come outside. Officers searched the area and found Brojakowski in a restaurant parking lot and took him into custody. Brojakowski told officers he had been at home when a woman came to the door and said a man had been chasing her and another woman down the street. Brojakowski grabbed a baseball bat, went outside and found a man walking south on Main Street. He admitted to chasing the man to a Main Street residence, where he struck the front door with a bat and threatened his stepfather. Initially Brojakowski was reluctant to tell officers where the bat was, but then admitted it was at his residence. As of Tuesday, Brojakowski remained at Lackawanna County Prison in lieu of $10,000 bail. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for 10 a.m. on July 23 before District Judge Christopher Szewczyk.
