New Jersey man charged with attempted homicide after pouring gasoline on woman, police say

CBS News25-07-2025
A South Jersey man is charged with attempted murder and terroristic threats after pouring gasoline on a woman and threatening to light her on fire, police said.
Franklin Township police said 54-year-old Dominic Polidori then barricaded himself inside a home on the 200 block of Northwest Boulevard in Newfield Borough for over five hours on Friday before he was taken into custody.
Investigators said Polidori was charged with attempted murder and terroristic threats and will be held in the Salem County Correctional Facility.
Franklin Township police responded to the home on Northwest Boulevard just before 5:30 a.m. after hearing a man had poured gasoline on a woman and was threatening to set her on fire.
Police arrived and spoke with the woman, who said Polidori had dumped gasoline on her, grabbed a lighter, and threatened to light her and the home on fire.
Investigators surrounded the home and tried to talk to Polidori as he was barricaded inside the home, but were ultimately unable to. The Gloucester County SWAT Team joined the investigation around 7 a.m. and took Polidori into custody around 12:15 p.m., according to police.
Power was shut off for 300 homes in the area, and South Jersey Gas disabled service to 25 homes due to the possibility of hazardous materials inside the Northwest Boulevard home. Services have since been restored, and the road is reopened as well.
The case is being investigated by the Franklin Township Police Department and the Gloucester County Prosecutor's Office.

Man arrested after hourslong SWAT standoff at West Chester Quality Inn

This story has been updated with the identity of the suspect. A man has been arrested after SWAT engaged in an hourslong standoff with an armed suspect at a hotel in West Chester Township, according to a news release. Joshua Price, 36, was taken into custody without incident after he eventually complied in the standoff before exiting a room at the Quality Inn on Cincinnati Dayton Road, the release said. He is charged with aggravated robbery, weapons under disability and domestic violence. 'Our officers did an outstanding job responding to and investigating the initial report, which helped identify the suspect before he could escape or cause harm to others.' Police Chief Brian Rebholz said in the release. Police were initially called to hotel on Aug. 1 around 11:30 p.m. for the report of a person with a weapon in the parking lot and a possible stolen vehicle, Wooten said. West Chester spokesperson Brianna Wooten says police evacuated the hotel after detaining several individuals following a report of a person armed with a weapon who was refusing to leave. Several people fled on foot into the nearby woods, and three suspects were detained but later released. Further investigation revealed a fourth suspect was staying in a nearby hotel room, potentially armed. Officers attempted to contact the suspect at 8:34 a.m. Saturday, but he refused to come out, Wooten said. The ensuing standoff lasted for roughly four hours as hotel guests were allowed to return to their rooms around 12:36 p.m. No officers were injured during the incident. Wooten says Cincinnati-Dayton Road was closed between New Life Chapel and Interstate 75, but has since reopened. Enquirer media partner Fox19 contributed to this report.
