TECNO's prototype is an inward-folding device, meaning there's another cover screen when the phone is completely to TECNO, this design protects the huge 9.94-inch display much better when the phone is achieve this, TECNO has developed a custom-engineered dual-hinge system called a "waterdrop hinge" for the first fold and a larger hinge for the part that folds on top. The portion that wraps around the first fold has a self-locking mechanism to keep the three parts folded securely in TECNO PHANTOM Ultimate G Fold has a 9.94-inch main screen (that would most likely be marketed as a 10-inch display), and the crease is minimal on both folds, according to TECNO. When fully folded, the phone is just 11.49 mm thick, compared to the Mate XT, which comes in at 12.8 mm is keeping the specs under wraps; all we know is that the phone features a 5000 mAh battery, probably in three separate this prototype is TECNO's second attempt at the tri-fold design, and confusingly enough, the first one was called PHANTOM Ultimate 2, and it was showcased at the MWC earlier this year The company also showed the world's thinnest smartphone (at the time) at the same event—the TECNO Spark Slim, measuring just 5.75 mm The PHANTOM Ultimate G Fold is expected to show up at IFA in September, but don't get your hopes high for a mainstream model; the Spark Slim never got out of the prototype stage. It seems that our only hope now lies in Samsung and its Galaxy G Fold tri-folding phone, which may or may not be released

Here are all the upgrades in the upcoming Huawei Mate XT 2

Last year Huawei stunned the world when it launched the first-ever tri-fold device, the Mate XT, and now the company is allegedly working on its successor. According to a new rumor out of China, this won't be a huge upgrade compared to the original, but there will still be some tweaks. The Mate XT 2 will be powered by the Kirin 9020 SoC, and it will have satellite connectivity. Huawei Mate XT The main camera will be new, still 50 MP resolution and with variable aperture. There will also be an upgraded periscope telephoto shooter. And this is it, the entire list of changes from the Mate XT. Everything else should remain the same, including the folding screen and battery capacity. Samsung is rumored to be joining the tri-fold fray this year, and the small iteration of the Mate XT is definitely Huawei's answer. Huawei Mate XT Ultimate Source (in Chinese)

We now have a better idea of when the Samsung tri-fold will launch

Samsung TL;DR A long-time leaker claims that Samsung will launch its first triple-screen foldable or tri-fold device in September. This comes a week after Samsung's mobile head said the company wants to launch the device before the end of 2025. Samsung's tri-fold is said to offer a Snapdragon 8 Elite chip, a 10-inch folding screen, and the same rear cameras as the Z Fold 7. Samsung's mobile chief confirmed last week that the company aims to launch its first triple-screen foldable phone (also known as a 'tri-fold') before the end of the year. It now looks like we've got a possible launch window. Veteran tipster Ice Universe claimed on Weibo that Samsung's triple-screen device will launch in October. If confirmed, this means we'll see the landmark foldable well before the end of the year. The leaker also claimed that HUAWEI's second-generation Mate XT will be launched in September. So we're keen to see how the follow-up to the world's first triple-screen foldable compares to Samsung's first tri-fold. We already have a good idea of what to expect in terms of Samsung's design, as we recently discovered official animation files showing the new foldable. Samsung's triple-screen foldable might use a G-shaped design with two inward-folding hinges. Meanwhile, HUAWEI's device uses one inward-folding hinge and one outward-folding hinge. Samsung's approach enables a separate cover display, while HUAWEI's design sees part of the folding screen used as a cover display. A previous leak suggests that Samsung's new foldable phone will have a Snapdragon 8 Elite chip, a 10-inch folding OLED screen, and the same rear camera system as the Galaxy Z Fold 7 (200MP main, 10MP 3x tele, 12MP ultrawide). The device will reportedly be restricted to Korea and China, with an apparent starting price of more than ~$2,900. Got a tip? Talk to us! Email our staff at Email our staff at news@ . Tecno to announce its Phantom Ultimate G Fold Concept soon, here's what it looks like

Michail, 08 July 2025 Nearly one year ago, Tecno showcased its first tri-fold concept phone – the Phantom Ultimate 2. That device was later showcased at MWC 2025, and Tecno is now ready to hold a formal announcement. The Phantom Ultimate G Fold Concept will be unveiled later this month (mid-July) and we have some early images of the device to share with you today, showcasing the G Fold in its folded and unfolded states. Tecno Phantom Ultimate G Fold Concept It features an inward-folding design, similar to what Samsung is expected to go with on its own tri-fold. This allows the main display to be completely shielded when folded, providing better protection from accidental damage. We should mention that Tecno's G Fold is still not ready for mass production and will remain a concept for now. Phantom Ultimate G Fold will offer a cover screen on the leftmost part and a triple camera setup. Tecno promises a flat and seamless display when fully unfolded, with no visible crease. This was achieved by combining flexible display layering and developing smaller hinge components for the dual-hinge mechanism. The innovative hinge supports multi-angle hovering and various formations. Tecno also claims the G Fold will be the slimmest tri-fold device to date, which means it will be even thinner than the Huawei Mate XT Ultimate, which measures a mere 3.6mm when unfolded. In related news, tipster Ice Universe shared even more images of the device. Samsung is suddenly unsure about releasing a tri-fold phone

A prototype displayed by Samsung in 2021 Samsung says that its tri-fold device is ready to go into production, but the company isn't sure if there's demand for such a device. During the Galaxy S25's Unpacked event in January, the company subtly teased a multifold device. Samsung was expected to unveil its tri-fold phone alongside the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Flip 7, but that didn't happen. Rumors about a 2025 release weren't entirely off-base, though. Samsung's mobile business chief, TM Roh, told Korea Times that the company might release its first tri-fold phone by the end of the year. TM Roh says the device will deliver an enhanced AI experience. When asked if the phone would be called the Galaxy G Fold, Roh revealed that the device's name hadn't been finalized. The company is working on perfecting the phone and optimizing its usability right now. — TM Roh , Samsung's mobile business chief, July 2025 Like Roh a Samsung executive that Android Authority talked to also didn't provide a definite release timeframe for the device. The exec said that even though the company has been working on a tri-fold device for some time now, it's not sure if there's enough demand for the form factor. —Samsung exec, July 2025 So, even though the device is ready for production, whether it arrives this year or the next hinges on potential consumer demand. Samsung says customers aren't "clearly" asking for a tri-fold device at the moment, so there's no real motivation for the company to release exec said that the company is investigating demand right now, which means there's still a chance that it will be released this year, like Roh earlier report had said that the tri-fold phone would enter production in September and go on sale in the fourth quarter. It will allegedly have a limited launch and will only be available in China and Korea. This would enable Samsung to evaluate interest in the device before a full suggest that Samsung's first tri-fold device will be a high-end phone with three screens working together as a 10-inch OLED display. It will likely be fueled by the Snapdragon 8 Elite chip, and is expected to have the same camera setup as the Galaxy Z Fold 7 , including its 200MP primary phone is expected to cost more than 4 million South Korean won (~$2,916). It has been seven years since the introduction of foldable phones, but they still make up a fraction of overall sales, which can largely be attributed to their high price. A tri-fold device with a price tag of almost $3,000 will be out of reach for most customers, which explains why Samsung is hesitant about releasing the product. On top of that, a device with three folding panels will be more complex to produce than a foldable phone , and it will require expensive components. Further complicating matters are yield issues or problems related to producing a high percentage of usable units. Secure your connection now at a bargain price!
