Kang Seo Ha dies at 31; actor's sister shares note: ‘Even while enduring such immense pain…'
K-drama star Kang Seo Ha passed away on Monday after a long battle with stomach cancer. She was 31. The Korean entertainment industry is mourning the loss of the talented star, best known for bringing youthful energy and charisma to the screen through her supporting roles.
On Monday, a family member confirmed the news via a social media post. Her funeral is scheduled to be held at Room 8 of the funeral hall situated at Seoul St. Mary's Hospital in Banpo Dong. The official ceremony is scheduled for 7:40 am on July 16. After the cremation at Seoul Memorial Park, the actor will be laid to rest in her hometown, Haman, South Gyeongsang Province.

While sharing the news with fans, Kang Seo Ha's sister posted a video capturing moments from the actor's life, accompanied by a heartfelt note. It read, 'I still can't believe it, unnie. Even while enduring such immense pain, you worried about those around you and about me. Even though you couldn't eat for months, you insisted on paying for my meals with your own card and never let me skip a meal. My angel, who left us far too soon.'
The note further read, 'Even as you endured everything with painkillers, you said you were grateful that it wasn't worse, and I felt truly ashamed. My dear sister, you went through so much. I hope you are only happy and free from pain where you are now.'
Kang Seo Ha, born in 1994, graduated from the Korea National University of Arts' School of Drama. She made her acting debut with the music video 'Getting Farther Away' by Brave Guys, an appearance that earned her critical acclaim and industry recognition. But it was First Love Again that marked her breakthrough. She later went on to appear in several popular K-dramas like The Flower in Prison, Through the Waves, Assembly, and Heart Surgeons.
Before her demise, Kang had wrapped her final project alongside Squid Game star Park Gyu Young and When Life Gives You Tangerines actor Kim Seon Ho. The film, titled Mangnaein (English title: In the Net), is scheduled for release in the second half of the year. Directed by Kim Jee Woon and Park Bo Ram, the movie follows a woman who struggles to accept the death of her younger sibling, who took a tragic step after falling victim to an online witch-hunt. She later hires a hacker to uncover the truth behind her sister's death.
In 2023, Kang Seo Ha signed with Insight MCN, formed through a merger between Insight Entertainment and Showtime Crew, which marked a new chapter in her career.
