NeGD launches 'AI in Governance' training programme for government officials at IIT Delhi
New Delhi [India], June 26 (ANI): The National e-Governance Division (NeGD), under the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), has launched a 2-day training programme on 'Artificial Intelligence in Governance' at the Department of Management Studies (DMS), Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Delhi. The programme is being held from June 26 - 27, according to a release issued by the Union Ministry of Electronics & IT. The training workshop was inaugurated by Rajnish Kumar, COO & Director, NeGD, Sunil Sharma, Director, NeGD, and Prof Surya Prakash Singh, Head of Department, DMS, IIT Delhi. A total of 59 government officials from various central ministries, State Departments, and government bodies are participating in this capacity-building initiative focused on the responsible use of artificial intelligence in public governance. Conducted under the Capacity Building Scheme (CB Phase III) of the Digital India Programme, this programme is designed to enhance the knowledge and preparedness of officers in leveraging AI for improving service delivery, decision-making, and citizen engagement. It addresses key themes such as AI policy frameworks, ethical and legal considerations, digital transformation strategies, and real-world use cases of AI in governance. The training also features interactive sessions and group exercises aimed at contextualizing AI applications in departmental contexts. This initiative aligns with the core objective of CB Phase III, which is to build institutional and individual capacities for digital governance across all levels of government. The Capacity Building team at NeGD has played a pivotal role in conceptualizing and coordinating this programme in collaboration with IIT Delhi, ensuring academic depth, practical relevance, and strategic alignment with governance reforms. As India moves toward digitally enabled public services, such programmes are vital in preparing officers to navigate and lead technology-driven change with confidence and foresight, as per the ministry. ‘Awareness of PCPNDT Act key to reducing female foeticide'
Madurai: Health department staff including gynaecologists and radiologists are often not well-versed with the Pre-Conception and Pre-Natal Diagnostic Techniques (PCPNDT) Act due to which they face various legal issues, said Dr J Rajamoorthy, Director of Medical and Rural Health Services (DMS). He was speaking at a special meeting and training workshop for health department staff of Madurai and five other southern districts here on Wednesday. "It also leads to female foeticide . In some districts like Dharmapuri and Salem, the sex ratio is such that there are much fewer girls than boys. Steps taken because of this act have greatly helped reduce female foeticide in recent times," he added. He said awareness among public and health staff about the Act is key to reducing female foeticide and improving sex ratio at birth. Experts highlighted the legal provisions and their importance in preventing prevalence of quackery as well. The workshop was part of an initiative announced in the assembly by the health minister Ma Subramanian to create awareness and educate health department staff on PCPNDT Act and bring down female foeticide. On the discreet or symbolic methods being used by scan centres to reveal the sex of unborn foetus, the DMS said practising doctors can face punishments in case of violations even if the patient was willing. Dr K Senthil, state president, TNGDA, elaborated on Medical Termination of Pregnancy (MTP) Act as well. Dr R Selvaraj, JDHS, Madurai, Dr L Arul Sundaresh Kumar, dean, Madurai Medical College, and officials and staff from Dindigul, Theni, Ramanathapuram, Sivanganga, and Virudhunagar districts were present. A handbook on PCPNDT Act was released and distributed to all participants.

Force Motors partners with Zoho to implement digital CRM-DMS platform across dealer network
Force Motors has announced a strategic partnership with Zoho Corporation to support the digital transformation of its nationwide and global dealer network. The initiative is part of Force Motors' ongoing digital programme, Project DigiForce , and is aimed at improving dealer operations and customer engagement through the adoption of advanced technologies. As part of the agreement, Zoho 's integrated cloud-based Customer Relationship Management (CRM) and Dealer Management System (DMS) platforms, along with 12 AI-powered front-office applications, will be implemented across Force Motors' dealership and service operations. This system will replace existing legacy tools and centralise functions such as sales, service, marketing, and customer support. Deployment across national and international network Force Motors operates over 200 dealerships, 70 authorised service centres, and 30 parts centres in India, in addition to a presence in over 40 international markets. The new CRM-DMS system will offer a unified platform to these stakeholders, aiming to streamline workflows, support data-driven decision-making, and improve service delivery across every stage of customer interaction. Astron gets govt nod for Victorian rare earth-mineral sands mine
Astron Corporation and its joint venture partner, United States-based Energy Fuels Inc, have received the final regulatory tick of approval from the State Government to proceed with the massive Donald Mineral Sands (DMS) project in western Victoria. The work plan approval, granted by Resources Victoria's earth resources regulator, marks the final major hurdle before full-scale development can begin at the 42-year life-of-mine project, 15 kilometres east of Minyip. The approval is a critical step for DMS and a major win for Australia's rare earths and critical minerals sector. Under the joint venture agreement, Energy Fuels is set to earn up to a 49 per cent stake in DMS by injecting $183 million into staged funding for the first phase of development, along with US$17.5 million (A$27 million) worth of its own shares. The partners are planning a first-phase development covering a substantial 1143 hectares, designed to process 7.5 million tonnes of ore annually. The operation is forecast to deliver about 7000t of rare earth concentrate and 250,000t of heavy mineral concentrate each year. A potential second phase could extend the mine's life beyond 58 years and significantly increase production capacity. 'We are pleased to receive the Victorian Government's approval for our work plan. It is the result of years of planning, environmental assessment and community engagement.' Donald Mineral Sands managing director Tiger Brown The end product is expected to contain a rich mix of strategic minerals, such as zirconium, titanium, neodymium and praseodymium, which are vital for everything from smartphone screens to electric vehicles and defence technologies. Plant engineering is advancing, with a modularisation study by Sedgman and Mineral Technologies indicating lower build costs and faster timelines.
