Major Emmerdale couple facing split in ITVX release as ultimatum is issued
The following article contains spoilers from an episode of Emmerdale that hasn't aired on ITV1 yet, but can be viewed on ITVX. Mackenzie Boyd (Lawrence Robb) has issued Charity Dingle (Emma Atkins) an ultimatum following a major discovery in Emmerdale. A few days ago, Charity put forward the idea of being Sarah Sugden's (Katie Hill) surrogate. The offer was made because Charity couldn't bare the thought of Sarah not becoming a mother. The young resident has Fanconi Anemia which is expected to shorten her life, but also had a hysterectomy recently following a cancer diagnosis. With surrogacy agencies not willing to take Sarah on because of her health problems, Charity thought this was the only option. Charity has already started the process with Sarah and Jacob Gallagher (Joe-Warren Plant), the sperm donor, but for some reason believed that keeping Mackenzie in the dark about it would be best. This all changed tonight, when a spiteful Eric Pollard (Chris Chittell) told him. Mackenzie returned home and confronted Charity, wondering whether she'd still feign ignorance when she's 9 months pregnant. The argument between the two characters didn't get them anywhere, due to how stubborn they both are. Charity was absolutely certain that carrying Sarah's baby was the right thing to do, while Mack pointed out the health risks, and suggested that Charity only wants to do this to prove she doesn't just fail children all the time. Towards the end of the day, Charity had told Sarah that Mack will warm to the idea, but it will just take time. More Trending Outside though, he very quickly proved that wasn't going to be the case. Emmerdale legend warns that plan will 'end in tears' - but a shock follows
Charity Dingle (Emma Atkins) has been left worried over Cain Dingle's (Jeff Hordley) desperation to help Sarah Sugden (Katie Hill) in Emmerdale. As a result of the hysterectomy she had recently, Sarah can no longer carry a child. The news was so badly timed, as a few hours prior she was excitedly talking to Jacob Gallagher (Joe-Warren Plant) about him being her sperm donor for the IVF journey. Yesterday, Sarah was back in hospital as a result of Gabby Thomas (Rosie Bentham) losing control of her car. Gabby had drunk an obscene amount of coffee that morning and felt dizzy at the wheel. She fainted, forcing passenger Sarah to try and bring the car to a stop. In the hospital, Sarah broke down to Cain. She admitted that all she wants is to hold a little mini version of her, and hates that she'll have to live with the fact it will no longer happen, as well as knowing her Fanconi Anemia will shorten her life. Cain's heart broke for Sarah. Determined to help, he then suggested that Sarah could look into surrogacy. It wouldn't be the exact same as carrying the baby and giving birth herself, but she didn't have many other options. Once Charity discovered this, she wasn't impressed. Outside, Charity told Cain that he's not being fair by getting Sarah's hopes up, as the plan would not work. Clearly needing a distraction from the grief he's feeling towards son Nate, Cain was absolutely adamant that he would make Sarah's dream come true. In tonight's episode, Cain spoke to best friend and local GP Liam Cavanagh (Jonny McPherson) about surrogacy. Unfortunately, Liam said that the chances of Sarah being successful with an agency would be slim, given her illness and everything she's been through recently. Frustrated, Cain relayed this to Charity, who wondered if it was a sign. More Trending But when they sat down to tell Sarah this, both characters could not bring themselves to break her heart again. Instead, Cain lied and said that Liam thinks it's a really good idea. Sarah, who had spent the day warming to the idea of surrogacy, was grateful and felt like there was some light at the end of the tunnel at last. Sarah will not be able to find a surrogate through an agency, but upcoming episodes will see her discover there is another option. Charity will impulsively tell Sarah that she could carry the baby instead – but how will she react? Emmerdale's Sarah Sugden star wants two major ITV soap legends to return
Sarah Sugden (Katie Hill) is facing a difficult time in Emmerdale following a cervical cancer diagnosis. Already living with a condition called Fanconi anaemia, which could mean she'll have a shorter than average lifespan, Sarah has made the decision to have IVF so she can become a mother. She previously thought she was pregnant, but while his turned out to be a false alarm it left her realising that she desperately wants to be a mum before it's too late. She decided to look into having IVF, and it was at an appointment about the IVF that a possible problem was spotted. 'She's trying to stay positive, she thinks everything is going to work out. She's obviously dealt with cancer growing up, she's been through so much she's quite good at handling stuff like that as much as it hurts to hear. 'She takes the route of 'I'm going to focus on having this baby and the IVF,' so that's where she's at with her mental state. She just wants to have this baby and get the cancer out the way.' Tragically, earlier this week, she was told she can no longer carry a child. As Sarah prepared herself for the operation, Charity Dingle (Emma Atkins) arrived, ready to support her. The two characters ended up having a really moving conversation about their connection. Sarah called Charity strong, and said she's been a better mum to her than her actual mother Debbie, who now lives in Australia. The conversation quickly changed when the IVF was brought up. Sarah spotted the look on Charity's face, and realised that she still didn't think her plan was a good idea. The argument was not resolved, unfortunately, as Sarah was wheeled away to theatre in the middle of their clash. While she waited, Charity became consumed with guilt over the row, and Cain Dingle (Jeff Hordley) of all people did his best to make her feel better. Moments later, Sarah's surgeon arrived to reveal some news. As Sarah woke up, Charity and Cain stood beside the bed as she was told a complication occurred during surgery. As a result of this and Sarah's Fanconi Anemia, she had to have a hysterectomy – and Sarah knew exactly what that meant. As a result of this and Sarah's Fanconi Anemia, she had to have a hysterectomy – and Sarah knew exactly what that meant. Having been at Emmerdale for eight years, Katie has reflected about her time growing up on the show. 'It's funny because when I came into the show, I was the kid on set,' she told us. 'I wouldn't get involved in all the adult conversations and now Emma [Atkins] is my best friend. She's a 50-year-old woman and is one of my bestest friends. 'I know we all say it's like a family, but it really is. If I ever need help with anything I've got someone to turn to. It's been nice. The Dingle WhatsApp group chat, that's always going off. It's called 12 Angry Dingles after that storyline with Lydia (Karen Blick). We're a really tight bunch and I adore them all.' Want to be the first to hear shocking EastEnders spoilers? There are two Emmerdale legends that Katie would love to see back in the Dales, however, and that's Charley Webb and Kelvin Fletcher, who played Sarah's parents Debbie Dingle and Andy Sugden. Charley left the show in 2021. More Trending 'Funnily enough I never met Kelvin Fletcher,' Katie told us, as Kelvin was last seen in the show in 2016. 'Obviously it would be great if he came back and we got a chance to explore their relationship. And obviously Charley, she was my person here for so many years. She really took me under her wing when I joined the show so it would be so nice to work with them both. I'd like that.' View More » This article was originally published on 23rd May 2025. Heartbreaking Sarah update in Emmerdale ITVX release as complications arise
The following article contains spoilers from an episode of Emmerdale that hasn't aired on ITV1 yet, but can be viewed on ITVX. Utterly devastating scenes aired in tonight's episode of Emmerdale, as Sarah Sugden (Katie Hill) was told she can no longer carry a child. Sarah has spent the majority of this week feeling hopeful about her future. After agreeing to Jacob Gallagher's (Joe-Warren Plant) idea of being her sperm donor for the IVF, Sarah felt excited about her next steps. All she had to do was get her operation out of the way following her cervical cancer diagnosis, and she'd be ready to completely focus on her IVF journey and dream of being a mum. As lovely as it was, things quickly changed when the IVF was brought up. Sarah spotted the look on Charity's face, and realised that she still didn't think her plan was a good idea. In Charity's eyes, Sarah had barely thought about motherhood. Yes, she had imagined how lovely it would be to bring a child into the world but according to Charity, Sarah hadn't thought about the stress her body would be put through, and the relentless challenges that come with looking after a small human.
