I've stared into eyes of serial killers & seen the face of evil – why cannibal Jeffrey Dahmer is the worst I ever met
WHEN journalist Nancy Glass stared into the eyes of serial killer Jeffrey Dahmer - she realised he was unlike any other murderer she'd sat in front of. Speaking to The Sun, Nancy, who has interviewed other murderers and criminals in her illustrious career, explained what made Dahmer the most chilling of all to speak to. She said: "My first impression of Dahmer was how normal he appeared. "It makes you think that anybody could be capable of crimes like this. "If he had acted like a maniac, I would have been more relieved." She said Dahmer was "not charming", but at the same time, "you wouldn't have picked him out of a crowd". Although she doesn't know exactly why Dahmer agreed to an interview with him, she believes one reason was simply that he was "lonely" and "wanted to talk". Getting an interview with Dahmer was no easy task. It took more than a year and a half to secure the exclusive, building a relationship with the murderer and his family. Nancy, now 69, said: "He wanted to talk to somebody and he had gotten used to talking to me. 12 A bloodstained mattress is removed from Jeffrey Dahmer's apartment Credit: Milwaukee PD 12 Cops outside the killer's apartment Credit: AP 12 Dahmer's lair was filled with tools including knives and saw blades Credit: Milwaukee Police Department 12 The monster was known to have used vats of acid to dissolve his victims Credit: Milwaukee Police Department Jeffrey Dahmer was the devil's best friend. I believe he killed more than 16. I can never forgive him but it's helping others that carries me through. She made it clear there were no conditions for the interview - and that she would let him speak. In this way, he revealed his true evil self. Nancy said: "His mind is not like yours and mine. He was so twisted. "The only thing that is fair is the truth. I'm not there to prosecute him, but by telling the truth, people realise what evil was there, and the intentionality of it." She added: "I've interviewed other serial killers, and he wasn't like any of them." Nancy recalled an interview with Joel Rifkin, who murdered between nine and 17 women between 1989 and 1993. She said killers usually blame something or someone for pushing them to commit their crimes. Let's not sugarcoat this, he was a psychopath. I had no sympathy whatsoever Nancy Glass Journalist In contrast, she said, Dahmer "put his crimes on himself. He knew what he did". Through speaking to him, it was clear he was "sad" at his predicament. She said: "He stayed up all night and slept all day because he couldn't face the daylight. Although in the interview, Dahmer says sorry for his crimes, Nancy believes he "didn't understand what that meant". She went on: "Let's not sugarcoat this. He was a psychopath. I had no sympathy whatsoever." Throughout their interview, which resurfaced in the wake of the Netflix limited series Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story, the killer never lets the mask slip, maintaining a polite, almost shy facade throughout. For Nancy, who had read all of the depositions and knew details of Dahmer's murders too gruesome to be shared with the public, the contrast between his calm demeanour in front of her and what he had done was even more chilling. Cannibal's warped collection of body parts TWISTED cannibal murderer Jeffrey Dahmer kept a stomach-churning collection of body parts in his 'house of horrors', including a severed head in his freezer and a huge drum full of male torsos. After But beyond his sick cannibalistic desires, 'The Milwaukee Monster' confessed to his grotesque plans to build a "bone altar" out of the skeletons of his victims. "There are crimes of passion and crimes of revenge, but this was the intentional destruction of human life. "You ask, how could anybody be this way?" In the aftermath of her bombshell interview, Nancy said Dahmer and his family were furious with her. Dahmer's parents even complained to Nancy: "You've made him look like a monster!" But as Nancy responded, Dahmer "made himself look like a monster". She added: "I don't want a criminal to be pleased with their portrayal." Today, Nancy is CEO of Glass Entertainment Group and has more than 22 TV shows and podcasts currently in production in the US. In the years since she has spoken further to Dahmer's family. "They are still unhappy with the interview," she said, "but they've come to terms with who he is." Just a year after the interview aired, Dahmer was killed in prison by a fellow inmate in Wisconsin - where he was serving 16 life sentences for his vile murders. Dahmer's chilling spree Dahmer is known to have murdered 17 times, with many of his victims being gay and from an ethnic minority background. His first victim was 18-year-old Steven Hicks, who he killed in June 1978 after luring him back to his house for drinks. Steven was strangled with a dumbbell before Dahmer dissolved his body in acid and crushed his bones with a sledgehammer. It wasn't until November 1987 that the killer struck again, when he killed 24-year-old Steven Tuomi, who he had met at a gay bar. Three months later, in January 1988, Dahmer murdered 14-year-old James Doxtator, who had run away from home just two days before he met his killer. The serial killer was now on a streak, murdering 22-year-old Richard Guerrero in March 1988, and 24-year-old Anthony Sears one year later - whose head and genitals Dahmer kept as 'trophies'. After being imprisoned for a year for sexually assaulting a 13-year-old, the killer struck as soon as he was out, murdering 32-year-old sex worker Raymond Smith in May 1990. In June 1990, Dahmer murdered 27-year-old Edward Smith, an acquaintance of his, before stashing his body parts in his freezer. Then in September 1990, he struck twice, killing Ernest Miller and David Thomas, both aged 22. The following year, in February 1991, Dahmer offered money to 17-year-old Curtis Straughter to post nude, only to drug, strangle and cannibalize him. In April 1991, Dahmer killed 19-year-old Errol Lindsey, after drilling a hole in his head and pouring acid into his brain. May 1991 saw two more killings - Anthony Hughes, 31, and Konerak Sinthasomphone, 14 - with Dahmer repeating his drilling 'experiment' on Konerak. Over June and July 1991, Dahmer murdered Matthew Turner, 20, Jeremiah Weinburger, 23, Oliver Lacy 24, and Joseph Bradehoft, 25. But his luck ran out on July 22 of that year, when 32-year-old Tracy Edwards - who had been lured to his house - managed to escape and alert police.

Miley Cyrus fans shocked as old clips show her being asked about sex as a child
Old interviews with a young Miley Cyrus have resurfaced, and fans have been left horrified by the disturbing questions she was asked at just 14 years old. A montage of clips of the singer, now 32, in which she was forced to set the record straight about pregnancy rumors and talk about her sex life when she was just a teen have recently gone viral on Reddit. she passionately told the camera during a chat with Inside Edition on the red carpet: 'I am not pregnant. I am 14 years old, and that is very lame because I'm a minor.' Her mom, Tish Cyrus, stood behind her with a smile on her face as her daughter spoke to the reporter. Miley went on: 'And yeah. So stupid. The main reason that I'm here tonight [is to] set the record straight. 'I think that people that make stuff up like that do that, [it's] kind of a cry for help, for attention.' In another video from the same event, an Extra TV reporter asked the teen: 'Why do you think these rumors about you being pregnant still exist? [What] do you think they're still going around?' Miley responded: 'I don't know, I'm ready for them to make up something else so I can descape from it. 'I think it's just people kind of wanting attention, but they didn't get the attention they wanted. It got turned back on me, and it was attention that I did not want at all. She then sarcastically added: 'Thanks a lot, guys, good job.' When asked about her fans' 'reactions' to the pregnancy rumors the pop star said: 'It was really breaking my heart, so I thought it would really take me down. 'But the only thing it's done, it's put me in a position where everyone sees how supportive my fans are because all my fans have really stood strong and said "No, that's not true." 'I know that, and it's also giving me the street cred just to stand here and say that would be impossible, because I'm living my life the way I believe is right, and that is to stay pure.' To this, the Extra reporter asked if Miley believed in 'no sex before marriage.' Miley replied: 'No, I don't at all. So, I'm trying to stay true to that, 'cause you never know.' The old clips have gone viral, with fans slamming the media for forcing a child into having inappropriate adult conversations. On eReddit user commented: 'The fact that a 14-year-old had to handle that level of adult weirdness is honestly disturbing.' Another wrote: '"You don't believe in sex before marriage?" Ma'am, this is a 14-year-old girl…' Someone else said: 'These adult interviewers are so gross and weird.' Yet another wrote: 'I'm both amazed at the poise [with] which this 14-year-old conducts herself, and disgusted at the line of questioning from an adult.'

ABC News Shuffles GMA3 Lineup After Departures of Eva Pilgrim and DeMarco Morgan
ABC News' midafternoon program, GMA3: What You Need to Know, will undergo anchor changes following the move of Eva Pilgrim to Inside Edition and DeMarco Morgan's departure from the network. According to reports, a rotating group of Good Morning America personalities, including Lara Spencer, Will Reeve, Gio Benitez, Sam Champion, Rachel Scott, and James Longman, will now handle hosting duties. The addition of the GMA personalities comes as Pilgrim was officially named the next anchor of the syndicated show Inside Edition on Monday, following Deborah Norville's retirement. She begins her new assignment this fall. "Anchoring Inside Edition is truly a dream job," Pilgrim said. "I have been an avid viewer and fan of the show for many years. I'm pinching myself that I get to work with this amazing team. It's truly an honor to join a show with such a long, rich history." "We feel like we won the jackpot to have Eva join our team as the next anchor of Inside Edition," said Chris Lachman, executive producer of Inside Edition. "She has solid news chops from her years as a reporter and anchor in national and local news, plus a warm relatability that resonates with audiences. We look forward to having a journalist of her caliber take Inside Edition into its next chapter." In separate notes to ABC News staffers obtained by TVNewser, ABC News president Almin Karamehmedovic offered praise to the departing anchors, saying Pilgrim was "tireless and enthusiastic, always ready for the next assignment.' Morgan, who Karamehmedovic said decided to leave the news organization, was praised for "his devotion to journalism, and sharing with others is evident in everything he touches.' The duo were named permanent co-anchors of GMA3 in May 2023, following the exits of Amy Robach and TJ Holmes in January that year. The previous hosts had served a two-month suspension for failing to disclose a romantic affair. Pilgrim joined ABC News in 2015 as a correspondent based in New York and has served as co-anchor of GMA Saturday and Sunday broadcasts since 2018. While at ABC News, Pilgrim has covered breaking news stories, including the recent mass shooting in Nashville, the Alex Murdaugh trial, the Charlottesville rally, the 2020 presidential election, the murder of George Floyd, and Hurricanes Matthew, Harvey, Irma, Maria, and Michael. Morgan, a longtime local news anchor, joined ABC News in 2022 as a correspondent based in Los Angeles. Since joining ABC, DeMarco has covered a wide range of breaking news stories, including the recent severe weather in the western United States. Before joining ABC News, Morgan was co-anchor of the weekday morning and 11 a.m. KCBS newscasts, where he also reported for all CBS News networks' broadcasts and platforms. Before that, he was a CBS News correspondent and previously anchored at New York stations WCBS and WNBC. Solve the daily Crossword

TV shakeups: Stephen Colbert, Lester Holt, Hoda Kotb and other hosts leaving shows
The state of television is shifting as big-name anchors and late-night comics head for the exit doors amid firings, cancellations and career transitions. Over a dozen high-profile anchors and television hosts have stepped away from their gigs at major networks, including CBS, NBC, MSNBC, Fox News and CNN. Notably, Stephen Colbert's "The Late Show" has been canceled by CBS – effective May 2026 – sparking more speculation about the fate of late-night shows. Anthony Adornato, chair of broadcast and digital journalism at Syracuse University's Newhouse School of Public Communications, previously told USA TODAY that news organizations are now putting "less of an emphasis on those big-name anchors who are making a ton of money" as news consumption habits change and younger audiences engage with non-traditional content. Here's a look at all the TV anchors and hosts who have recently left their roles. Stephen Colbert, 'The Late Show with Stephen Colbert' CBS has canceled "The Late Show With Stephen Colbert," with the final show scheduled for May 2026. Host Stephen Colbert announced the shocking news to his studio audience on Thursday, July 17, at New York City's Ed Sullivan Theater. "I want to let you know something I found out just last night," Colbert told the audience. "Next year will be our last season. The network will be ending 'The Late Show' in May." As the audience expressed their dismay with loud moans, Colbert said, "Yeah, I share your feelings." Deborah Norville, 'Inside Edition' After three decades of hosting "Inside Edition," Deborah Norville bid farewell to viewers one last time in May 2025. The longtime anchor hosted her final episode May 21, where she thanked her Los Angeles colleagues for their immense work ethic and fans for welcoming her into their homes for all these years. "I am literally swimming in gratitude," Norville said. "I've stayed this long because you welcomed me and the stories that we tell. I know inside has been a companion to many of you, and you've told me that you'll miss our daily visits. I'm going to miss them too." Lester Holt, 'NBC Nightly News' In a February 2025 memo to staffers, Lester Holt confirmed he will exit as anchor of "NBC Nightly News," a position he has held since 2015. But Holt said he would remain at NBC and move into a full-time role as anchor for "Dateline." "A smile comes to my face when I think that with 'Nightly News,' and 'Dateline,' I have now anchored two of the most successful and iconic television news programs in broadcast history," Holt said. "As a 20-year-old radio reporter on the police beat chasing breaking news around San Francisco, I could never have imagined my career path would unfold in the way it has. What an amazing ride." Holt delivered his last remarks and expressed gratitude toward his devoted audience on May 30. "Around here, facts matter, words matter, journalism matters and you matter," he told viewers. "Over the last decade, we have shared some dark and harrowing days and nights in our country." Later, Holt wished successor Tom Llamas "great success." "Oh my goodness, it has been quite a ride. Thanks, everybody," he said at the end of a highlights montage, surrounded by his wife of 42 years, Carol Hagen, and his colleagues. 'A lot of Cuban coffee': Tom Llamas talks stepping into new 'NBC Nightly News' role Joy Reid, 'The ReidOut' In February 2025, MSNBC announced numerous changes to its lineup, which included the cancellation of Joy Reid's show "The ReidOut." Reid, who had hosted shows at the network for over a decade, also left MSNBC. The network said at the time that Reid's 7 p.m. time slot would be filled by a rotating series of anchors before being replaced by a show anchored by Symone Sanders-Townsend, Michael Steele and Alicia Menendez. She now hosts "The Joy Reid Show," available on YouTube. What happened? Joy Reid leaving MSNBC after cancellation Chuck Todd, NBC News Chief political analyst and former "Meet The Press" moderator Chuck Todd announced in January 2025 that he would leave NBC News. "There's never a perfect time to leave a place that's been a professional home for so long, but I'm pretty excited about a few new projects that are on the cusp of going from 'pie in the sky' to 'near reality,'" he said in a memo to staff. "So I'm grateful for the chance to get a jump start on my next chapter during this important moment." He went on to say, "I leave feeling concerned about this moment in history but reassured by the standards I and others at NBC have worked so hard to set." He now hosts "The Chuck ToddCast" podcast and the weekly interview show "Sunday Night with Chuck Todd" on the Noosphere platform. Jim Acosta, CNN CNN chief domestic correspondent Jim Acosta announced his exit from the network on the air in January 2025. He told viewers that "after giving all of this some careful consideration and weighing an alternative time slot CNN offered me, I have decided to move on." Acosta, who had been with CNN since 2007 and was known as a critic of President Donald Trump, also said in his farewell message, "It is never a good time to bow down to a tyrant. I have always believed it's the job of the press to hold power to account." He now hosts "The Jim Acosta Show," which is available on Substack, YouTube and Apple Podcasts. Norah O'Donnell, 'CBS Evening News' Norah O'Donnell signed off as anchor of "CBS Evening News" in January 2025. "This presidential election will be my seventh as a journalist, and for many of us in this business, we tend to look at our careers in terms of these milestone events." Hoda Kotb, 'Today' show Hoda Kotb officially left the "Today" show in January after announcing her exit in September, 2024. Kotb said that when she turned 60 in 2024, she'd realized it was "time for me to turn the page" and "try something new," adding that her kids deserve a "bigger piece of my time pie." Kotb had served as "Today" co-anchor with Savannah Guthrie since 2018, after Matt Lauer's was fired due to sexual misconduct allegations. She also hosted the show's fourth hour since 2007.
