How Much Would Chelsea Earn After Winning The Club World Cup?
Chelsea football club have returned from New York with around $114.3 million in prize money after winning the FIFA Club World Cup, defeating PSG 3-0 in the final game. The 2025 FIFA Club World Cup marked a significant departure from previous editions, which had only seven teams. This year's edition has featured a World Cup structure which adopted 32 clubs from the six confederations, divided into four weeks held across the US. Chelsea, one of Europe's 12 representatives, delivered a dominant performance in the final. Cole Palmer scored twice and assisted on the third. João Pedro to seal the title. Coming into the finals, the Blues had already earned $76 million through their wins in the competition. Their earnings now reach $114.3 million. FIFA has confirmed a $1 billion prize pool for the new 32-team Club World Cup, alongside a substantial and groundbreaking global solidarity model. According to money awarded for participation for European clubs was weighted by a ranking based on sporting and commercial criteria, meaning some were awarded more than others for taking part. European clubs were handed between $12.81m and $38.19m just for turning up, while teams from other continents were given a set fee – that was $15.21m for South America, $9.55m for North and Central America, and Asia and Africa, and $3.58m for Oceania. Despite the monetisation situation for the club, Chelsea had made 16% of its annual revenue, second only to Auckland City, whose income jumped by 676% after their participation. What punishment could Luis Enrique face for João Pedro incident?
Tempers boiled over during Paris Saint-Germain's 3-0 defeat to Chelsea FC in the FIFA Club World Cup. The match had multiple flashpoints as PSG saw their dreams of a historic quintuple dashed in chastening circumstances, and this spilt onto the pitch following the final whistle. Luis Enrique was seen making contact with João Pedro (23) during an argument between the Chelsea striker and the PSG goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma (26). Footage appeared to show the manager grabbing João Pedro's face and making contact with his neck. The striker then fell to the floor. The PSG head coach has justified his actions, telling reporters in his post-match press conference that he was attempting to pull the players apart: 'It was a completely avoidable situation for everyone. Different people were involved in this. We had to avoid problems. I wanted to prevent it from escalating.' Advertisement However, he could now face disciplinary action, if, as Le Parisien explains, FIFA decide to open proceedings against the head coach. FIFA's articles say a person could be punished for 'at least three matches or an appropriate period for an assault, including punching, elbowing, headbutting, kicking, biting, or spitting against an opponent or any person other than a match official.' And as the French outlet notes, there is precedent. Guadalajara's head coach was suspended for three games in January after he kicked Nicolás Fonseca (26) during a match against Club Leon. PSG falls short in Club World Cup final after an 'exceptional' season
Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) ultimately stumbled at the final hurdle. Although considered the favorite, the French capital's club lost to Chelsea (3-0) in the FIFA Club World Cup final on Sunday, July 13, at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey. This defeat prevented PSG from capturing the coveted fifth trophy and expanding their dominance to the global stage, after already making history with their quadruple (UEFA Champions League, Ligue 1, Coupe de France and Trophée des Champions). The European champions were unrecognizable as they collapsed against a formidable London side. The London team dominated from the outset and led 3-0 at halftime. Cole Palmer scored twice (in the 22 nd and 30 th minutes) and assisted João Pedro (in the 43 rd minute) on a goal. Palmer capitalized on rare lapses in the PSG's defense. It was a match to forget for PSG, especially PSG's head coach Luis Enrique, who clashed with Pedro after the final whistle amid post-match tensions on the pitch. Against Chelsea, the Parisians looked tired after a seemingly endless season, in which they played 65 matches, including 17 in the Champions League. On Sunday night, the contrast was stark between PSG's lack of freshness and the energy the Blues expended to press the Parisian players and prevent them from building their play. It was as if Chelsea had turned PSG's own game against them, suffocating them with relentless activity, a tactic PSG had so often used themselves.
