11 alleged BIFF members surrender in Maguindanao del Sur
At least 11 alleged members of a Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighters (BIFF)-Bungos Faction have returned to the folds of the law in Maguindanao del Sur. According to the 90th Infantry Battalion, the former BIFF members also turned over their firearms during a ceremony on July 9, 2025. The firearms surrendered included an M653 rifle, an M203 grenade launcher, an M16 rifle, a caliber .50 Barret sniper rifle, a 7.62mm sniper rifle, an M1 Carbine, a 7.62mm single-shot muzzle, two M79 grenade launcher, two M1Garand rifles, and an 9mm Uzi. The military said the relentless military operations, hunger, and the appeals of their families and local officials pushed them to surrender and start a new life. As support for their reintegration, they were given cash assistance, grocery items, rice, corn seeds and other assistance from various agencies, local government units in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM), and other peace advocacy partners. 601st Infantry Brigade Commander, Brigadier General Edgar Catu, said the surrender of the former BIFF memebrs is a testament to the renewed trust of the people in the ability of the government and local leaders to lead the community toward peace. 6ID Commander, Major General Donald Gumiran, also lauded the troops of the 90IB for the success and encouraged the remaining members of armed groups to seize the opportunity to turn over a new leaf while the doors of the government remain open for reintegration.

Suspected rebel killed, guns seized in Butuan clashes
A suspected rebel was killed while two high-powered firearms were seized during a series of armed encounters in the hinterlands of Barangay Pianing, Butuan City on Monday, July 7, 2025. According to the 4th Infantry Division (4ID), troops of the 29th Infantry Battalion responded to a report about the presence of armed men allegedly recruiting and extorting from residents in the area. The operating team engaged the armed men in a firefight that lasted for about two minutes, which resulted in the confiscation of an M16 rifle. After a few hours, another encounter erupted while the troops were pursuing the fleeing armed group. The encounter lasted for about five minutes, which resulted in the death of an alleged member of the New People's Army (NPA) who is yet to be identified. A R4 rifle was also confiscated. 'This encounter is a direct result of our continued collaboration with local communities and former rebels who have chosen the path of peace. We remain committed to safeguarding our peace-loving people and putting an end to the threats posed by the NPA,' 29IB Commander, Lt. Col. Mark Tabon, said. 4ID Commander, Major General Michele Anayron, Jr., lauded the troops for the successful operation. 'This latest success highlights our relentless pursuit of peace and security in Caraga. Every neutralized enemy and captured firearm diminishes the NPA's capacity to conduct armed violence. We call on the remaining members of the NPA to lay down their arms and return to the folds of the law, while they still have the chance. Otherwise, our troops will relentlessly hunt them down to prevent them from further endangering the lives of innocent civilians and disrupting peace and development in the region,' Anayron said.

Priyanka even said that Malti calls her dad Nick and his brothers "Doughnut Brothers." In the same interview, Priyanka Chopra also spoke about her upcoming film, Heads Of State, where she will be playing a top M16 agent. About SSMB29 Coming back to SSMB29, the SS Rajamouli directional stars Mahesh Babu, Priyanka Chopra Jonas, and Prithviraj Sukumaran in pivotal roles. The movie's extravagant action sequence will involve nearly 3,000 members. The shoot was expected to take place in Hyderabad this month. SSMB29 is touted as a globe-trotting adventure movie. The film was initially speculated to continue shooting until 2026 and release in 2027. However, an update on the same is awaited. For the uninformed, SSMB29 also marks the first collaboration of Mahesh Babu and SS Rajamouli.

The actress, 42, discussed Malti, her 3-year-old daughter with her husband, singer Nick Jonas, when she stopped by The Tonight Show starring Jimmy Fallon Thursday to discuss her new movie Heads of State. "She's precocious. She is funny. She's a little comedian and she knows she's funny, so that's even better," Chopra Jonas said. "But, yeah, she's just such a light of our lives right now. This is an amazing season for us." Malti was born in 2022 via surrogate. Chopra Jonas and Nick Jonas, 32, married in 2018. "It's lovely not to have found your person," Chopra Jonas previously said on the Jennifer Hudson Show. Chopra Jonas also shared on Tonight that she "had a great time" filming Heads of State opposite Idris Elba and John Cena. In the film, Elba plays British prime minister Sam Clarke, while Cena portrays Will Derringer, an actor and the U.S. president. Chopra stars as Noel Bisset, the M16 agent who rescues the pair after their plane is attacked. "I have to bring them to safety, and we have a lot of fun stuff -- explosions and fun things that happen while we're doing it," she told Fallon. Heads of State begins streaming on Prime Video July 2.
