Annette Gozon-Valdes delivered the opening remarks, highlighting the network's milestones and the strong partnerships that have propelled GMA Network to continued success. Charlie Fleming serenaded the guests with a surprise song number, infusing the night with artistry and flair. It was followed by a toast led by Sparkle GMA Artist Center First Vice President Joy Marcelo. Other Kapuso executives present were GMA Kapuso Foundation Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer Rikki Escudero-Catibog and Sparkle Senior Talent Manager Tracy Garcia, among others. Among the stars present at the gathering on Thursday night were Yasmien Kurdi, Rocco Nacino, Martin Javier, Shuvee Etrata, Anthony Constantino, AZ Martinez, Charlie Fleming, Will Ashley, Josh Ford, Michael Sager, Vince Maristela, Angel Guardian, Jak Roberto, Jeric Gonzales, Anton Vinzon, Sofia Pablo, Allen Ansay, Faye Lorenzo, and Mad Ramos. A key moment of the evening was the GMA Kapuso Foundation donation turnover. GMA Network donated a total of P2 million, underscoring the network's continued commitment to public service and social responsibility through its charitable arm. Gozon-Valdes told GMA Integrated News that the pre-gala dinner pushed through despite the inclement weather because the event is really for the benefit of the GMA Kapuso Foundation. "Tamang-tama, nangangailangan talaga sila ng tulong ngayon. So specifically, all the proceeds, at least P2 million ha ang nalilikom natin, tonight ay mapupunta particularly for the calamity victims," she said. "Even before the storms, even before the flooding, talagang for the benefit of Kapuso Foundation itong gabing ito. So lalo na siguro silang na-engganyong pumunta kasi meron talagang mga nangangailangan ng tulong, so I'm very happy na we've raised at least P2 million as of now. And baka madagdagan pa at the end of the night," she added. Meanwhile, Escudero-Catibog expressed her gratitude, noting that the heavy rains lately have been hard to grasp. "First, it was habagat, we've been conducting relief operations araw-araw. Tapos ngayon naman, no'ng pumasok si Emong at pinalakas pa nitong si Dante, 'di naman makaalis si Dante dahil merong Fujiwhara effect daw 'yung dalawang bagyo. So, talagang ang hinagpit talaga 'yung probinsya ng Pangasinan at tsaka ang Pampanga nasa state of calamity na," she said. Escudero-Catibog added that the GMA Kapuso Foundation is now preparing for its relief operations this weekend. The GMA Gala 2025, which is part of the celebration of GMA Network's 75th anniversary this year, will be held on August 2. Now in its fourth year, the GMA Gala is a star-studded gathering of Kapuso stars and other showbiz personalities where they walk down the red carpet in fashionable outfits and enjoy an evening of camaraderie and celebration. In 2024, proceeds from the event were donated for the benefit of Typhoon Carina victims. —CDC, GMA Integrated News

Patidongan to file complaint affidavit vs cops linked to missing sabungeros

Julie 'Dondon' Patidongan alias Totoy says he will go to NAPOLCOM on Monday, July 14, 2025. Whistleblower Julie 'Dondon' Patidongan alias Totoy on Saturday announced he will be filing a complaint affidavit against police officers whom he claimed were involved in the case of missing sabungeros (cockfight enthusiasts). 'Sa Lunes, pupunta ako ng NAPOLCOM (National Police Commission)… 'Yung mga pulis na nabanggit ko ay kakasuhan ko na sa NAPOLCOM,' Patidongan said in an interview on Super Radyo dzBB. (On Monday, I will go to NAPOLCOM. I will file a complaint against the police officers I mentioned.) Last Saturday, NAPOLCOM vice chairperson Atty. Rafael Calinisan urged Patidongan to file a complaint affidavit with the agency against some police officers who were allegedly involved in the case of the missing sabungeros. The NAPOLCOM said earlier it already has a list of police officers linked to the case of the missing cockfight enthusiasts. The police commission has been investigating cops who were linked to the disappearance of the sabungeros for the administrative aspect of the case. A total of 15 cops were placed under restrictive custody at Camp Crame, Quezon City for their alleged involvement in the abduction of the sabungeros as claimed by Patidongan. Some of the 15 cops in restrictive custody were included in the list of those who allegedly received up to P2 million monthly payola from businessman Atong Ang, who was among the supposed masterminds in the disappearances, as claimed by Patidongan. During the radio interview, Patidongan said one of the cops involved, who is still active in service, owns a fishpond in Taal Lake. 'Siguro doon dinala at doon isinagawa ang pagpaslang sa missing sabungeros,' he said. (Maybe that is where the missing sabungeros were brought and where they were killed.) On Thursday, Calinisan said another potential witness in the disappearance of cockfighting enthusiasts was able to send additional information or feelers on the case. According to the NAPOLCOM official, the potential potential witness has a connection with Patidongan. A total of 34 cockfighting enthusiasts have been reported missing from 2021 to 2022. According to the police, the missing personalities were kidnapped allegedly due to match fixing or cheating in the cockfighting games. Patidongan claimed that the victims were already buried in Taal Lake. He named businessman Atong Ang as a mastermind in the case and also linked actress Gretchen Barretto to the disappearances. Both have denied the allegations. 'Sa sobrang dami niyan, hindi ko masyadong matandaan kung ilan ang inilubog nila diyan (Taal Lake). Base sa mga video na sinend sa akin, talagang may inilubog diyan,' Patidongan said. (Due to their big number, I cannot remember much how many [sabungeros] were thrown there.) 'Sa sobrang dami, ang ginagawa nilang mabilisan... baka chinop-chop nila 'yan... Nilagyan nila ng pabigat na buhangin...,' he said. (Because there were so many of the missing sabungeros, they had to do the killing quick. It's possible that they chopped up their bodies. They added sand as added weight.) Divers from the Philippine Coast Guard have found and are retrieving more sacks at the bottom of the Taal Lake in Batangas, following the retrieval of a sack containing what appeared to be burned human bones. —KG, GMA Integrated News

Potential witness in missing sabungeros case sends feelers to Napolcom

Another potential witness in the disappearance of cockfighting enthusiasts or sabuneros has sent feelers to the National Police Commission (Napolcom), its official said on Thursday. Napolcom vice chairperson and executive officer Atty. Rafael Vicente Calinisan said the individual, who was not identified, was able to give additional information on the case. 'Importante ito dahil mayroon ding dagdag detalye na lumulutang. Suffice it to say, welcome na welcome ang kahit na sinong tao na maaaring magbigay pa ng ibang detalye o susi sa ikalulutas nitong kaso,' Calinisan told GTV's Balitanghali in an interview. (This is important because there are also additional details surfacing. Suffice it to say, anyone who can provide other details or a key to solving this case is very welcome.) According to him, the potential witness has a connection with whistleblower and co-accused Julie 'Dondon' Patidongan. Calinisan said authorities are willing to provide security for the potential witness. 'If he wants for us to secure him, of course, welcome. But I think mukhang safe pa naman siya sa kanyang kinalalagyan. Wala naman akong ganoon vibe na nakuha,' he said. (If he wants us to secure him, of course, it's welcome. But I think he still looks safe where he is. I didn't get that vibe.) 'Very creative kasi ang paraan ng pagpapabanggit sa akin ng detalye. Di ko rin maikuwento. Pero sabihin na lang natin na happy ako kung anumang creative means 'yan because at least people now are trying to give the truth and bring the truth out,' he added. (The way the details were told to me was very creative. I can't even tell you. But let's just say that I'm happy whatever that creative means are because at least people now are trying to give the truth and bring the truth out.) Calinisan noted that the decision to make the person a state witness depends on the decision of the Department of Justice (DOJ). Napolcom has been investigating cops who were linked to the disappearance of the sabungeros for the administrative aspect of the case. A total of 15 cops are under restrictive custody at Camp Crame, Quezon City for their alleged involvement in the abduction of the sabungeros as claimed by Patidongan. The concerned police officers were assigned in support and regional units as well as in area police commands. One of them is due for retirement, while three have been dismissed. As early as January 2023, seven cops allegedly involved in the crime were initially dismissed from the service. Some of the 15 cops in restrictive custody were included in the alleged up to P2 million monthly payola from Atong Ang, who was among the supposed masterminds in the disappearances, as claimed by Patidongan. —GMA Integrated News
