‘FIFA U-17 World Cup will be another spectacular event hosted by Qatar'
Tribune News Network Doha Egyptian football legend, and U-17 head coach, Ahmed Al Kass looks forward to seeing a new generation of players shining on the big stage during the upcoming FIFA U-17 World Cup 2025. Set to take place in Qatar from 3 – 27 November, this will be the first FIFA World Cup to feature 48 teams. This year's edition marks the first of five consecutive tournaments that Qatar is hosting through to 2029. For Al Kass, a former Egyptian national team player who represented his country's senior side at the 1990 FIFA World Cup, the growing legacy of mega-sporting events in Qatar is a true testament to its place as a leading sports capital for the region. 'The world has already witnessed how Qatar delivered a phenomenal World Cup in 2022. The U-17 World Cup will be another spectacular tournament hosted by Qatar,' said Al Kass. 'As Arabs, we are proud that Qatar will play hosts for yet another exciting tournament. We share this pride with Qatar and are happy for the opportunity to play here.' Egypt have been drawn into Group E alongside England, Venezuela and Haiti. Their first match will see them take on Haiti on 4 November at Aspire Zone. Egypt made its last appearance at a FIFA U-17 World Cup in 1997, when it hosted the competition, and reached the quarterfinals. Now 28 years later, a new generation of young Pharaohs will be eager to make history and go even further. 'All the teams in our group have great caliber. Every team will be working hard to produce the best results. 'I hope our players will be able to showcase their strengths on the pitch. We want to see Egypt's flag raised in victory at the World Cup. We want to win it,' said Al Kass. Egypt is one of six Arab teams that have qualified to the tournament. They are joined by hosts Qatar, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Tunisia and Morocco. The best achievement historically by any Arab country in the competition was in 1991, when Saudi Arabia lifted the trophy. Bahrain, Qatar and Oman have all claimed fourth spot in 1989, 1991 and 1995 respectively. 'This is a huge achievement for our team to play in the U-17 World Cup after a long absence. We are excited and ready to re-emerge as strong contenders in the championship. I am confident that our young Pharaohs will give their best and make Egypt proud,' said Al Kass. The FIFA U-17 World Cup Qatar 2025 will take place from 3-27 November 2025 at the state-of-the-art Aspire Zone complex. The first match will see hosts Qatar take on European giants Italy on 3 November. The final match will be held at Khalifa International Stadium, which served as one of the venues for the historic FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022. Over 25,000 people apply to Qatar 2025 FIFA Volunteer Programme
At the iconic Lusail Stadium, a steady flow of candidates make their way through the tunnels of the world-class facility to be interviewed for a role at two tournaments set to be hosted by Qatar later this year: the FIFA U-17 World Cup Qatar 2025™ and the FIFA Arab Cup Qatar 2025™. More than 25,000 Qatar-based applicants have shown interest in being part of delivering the two events, which Qatar is set to host in November and December of this year. When the recruitment process is over, a total of 4,000 volunteers will be recruited to support across 20 different functional areas. 'The Qatar 2025 FIFA Volunteer Programme builds on the tremendous legacy created in Qatar through the hosting of mega sporting events. The success of each of these tournaments has been possible because of the devotion and tireless efforts of thousands of volunteers,' said Haya Al Noaimi, LOC Administration Executive Director. Andhini Rahmayani, 25 years old, moved to Qatar four years ago from Indonesia to work in the country's growing hospitality sector. Her decision to apply as a volunteer came from her desire to use her professional skillset in a manner that would give back to the community. 'I look forward to using my skills in customer service to support guests and fans throughout these tournaments. I can't wait to meet new people and learn about their cultures and be part of the U-17 World Cup that will feature my home country of Indonesia,' said Rahmayani. A total of 126 nationalities residing in Qatar were represented in the applicants' base, ranging in age from 18 to 76. Once interviews are complete, selected candidates will receive role offers beginning in August. Fouad Redouan works full-time as a chef in a Moroccan restaurant in Doha, Qatar. His decision to volunteer comes from a humanitarian perspective, driven by a desire to give back to the community. 'Volunteering is a human expression. Everyone loves to help and be part of the community in which they live. What we witnessed in Qatar 2022 was beautiful. It inspired everyone to be a part of it, and to contribute to the success of these events here in Qatar, and that's what I hope I can do,' said Redouan. FIFA U-17 World Cup 2025 — Qatar unveils new emblem for inaugural 48-team tournament
The FIFA U-17 World Cup, which has previously been a launchpad for icons like Ronaldinho, Xavi, Luis Figo and Neymar, had the official emblem of its 2025 edition unveiled on Monday. The tournament, which started in 1985 as a 16-team tournament, has been expanded to 48 teams in 2025, and will take place in Qatar — a country that has previously hosted the senior men's World Cup in 2022 and the AFC Asian Cup last year. The U-17 World Cup, which was played as a biennial tournament (except during the pandemic that forced it to happen after four years), will now be played annually, and Qatar will host the next five editions of the tournament, from 2025 to 2029. The previous edition of the World Cup saw youngsters like Paris Brunner (right) and Agustín Ruberto (not in picture) take centre-stage, with Germany beating France 4-3 on penalties to win the title. | Photo Credit: AP 'The FIFA U-17 World Cup has proven to be an important stepping stone for the next generation of the world's best young footballers, who display exceptional skill and dedication,' Mattias Grafström, FIFA's Secretary General, said. 'The tournament's new official emblem emphasises the team spirit, youthful audacity, remarkable strength, and optimism which will be on full display in November 2025. 'The well-proven ability of Qatar as a host of FIFA events, merged with the country's exceptional infrastructure and warm hospitality, will provide the perfect stage for this historic competition.' New emblem used negative space as spotlight The new emblem incorporates the coveted trophy as negative space within the 'U' of 'U-17', creating a bold silhouette that also represents a spotlight, which is the core symbol of the tournament's new identity. The result is an engaging brand that respects the FIFA U-17 World Cup's heritage, while looking ahead to the future of the game, as FIFA and the host nation join forces to illuminate emerging players, who are firmly at the heart of the story. The warm, overlapping layers of colour radiate outwards, representing football's worldwide reach, inclusivity and dynamism, highlighting the discovery and growth of young talent. 🌟 A fresh new emblem for the FIFA U-17 World Cup Qatar 2025™ has been unveiled!
