Hulk Hogan died of heart attack while facing other health issues: officials
Hulk Hogan died in Florida last week at the age of 71 of a heart attack, according to officials. The pro wrestling legend had a history of atrial fibrillation (AFib), a heart condition that causes an irregular and rapid heart rate, Page Six reported on Thursday, citing the Pinellas County Forensic Science Center. Medical records showed that he had chronic lymphocytic leukemia, a cancer that affects white blood cells, the outlet reported. Hogan went into cardiac arrest last Thursday and died at the age of 71. The news of Hogan's death came weeks after he was alleged to be having a health crisis. However, his widow, Sky Daily Hogan, denied those reports at the time, saying he was "strong" and recovering from surgeries. She admitted in an emotional social media post that he "had been dealing with some health issues, but I truly believed we would overcome them." "I had so much faith in his strength. I thought we still had more time," Daily Hogan wrote. TMZ Sports first reported the news of Hogan's passing, citing a possible "cardiac arrest" at his home in Clearwater, Florida. The Clearwater Police Department later confirmed that emergency personnel had responded to a medical call just before 10 a.m. Hogan was treated on site for a cardiac arrest before being transported to Morton Plant Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Hogan became the main babyface of what was then the World Wrestling Federation and spent decades in the business. He won numerous world championships and was twice inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame, the first time in 2005 and the other in 2020 as a member of the New World Order. In 2024, he founded Real American Beer, aptly named after his walk-out music during his time as a wrestler. He also founded Real American Freestyle, a wrestling promotion, in April 2025. Hogan made sporadic appearances with the WWE in his later years and made his final appearance in January 2025 in Los Angeles. Hogan was set to join former pro wrestling executive Eric Bischoff in a new venture called Real American Freestyle. It was a fresh attempt at putting freestyle wrestling on the map. Hogan also dipped his toe into the political waters. He stumped for President Donald Trump at the Republican National Convention and at a Madison Square Garden rally last year. He is credited with helping put today's WWE on the map. Tributes poured in from all over the sports world, and the WWE did a 10-bell salute on last Friday's edition of "SmackDown!" the day after Hogan's death.

Hulk Hogan, Wrestling Icon and Pop Culture Legend, Dies at 71
Hulk Hogan, Wrestling Icon and Pop Culture Legend, Dies at 71 originally appeared on Parade. Hulk Hogan, the pro wrestling titan who helped launch WWE into mainstream stardom and became one of the most recognizable figures in sports entertainment history, has died at 71. His family confirmed the news to Us Weekly. His manager, Chris Volo, confirmed to NBC that Hogan died while surrounded by loved ones at his home in Clearwater, Florida. TMZ Sports was first to report that emergency responders were called to Hogan's home early Thursday morning for a 'cardiac arrest.' According to the outlet, multiple police vehicles and EMTs were seen outside the residence, and Hogan — born Terry Gene Bollea — was carried from the scene on a stretcher before being transported by ambulance. A statement shared with Parade from the Clearwater Fire Department and Police Department said that officials responded to a medical call at 9:51 a.m. "The nature of the call was for a cardiac arrest," the statement said. "A 71-year-old resident, Terry Bollea, also known as Hulk Hogan, was treated by Clearwater Fire & Rescue crews before being taken by Sunstar to Morton Plant Hospital, where he was pronounced deceased." A media briefing will be held today at 1:30 p.m. at Clearwater Police Department headquarters. As of Thursday afternoon, no official statement has been released by Hogan's family or representatives. The WWE shared that it was "saddened" by the news, calling Hogan "one of pop culture's most recognizable figures" and extending condolences to his family, friends, and fans. Parade reached out to Hogan's reps, but did not immediately hear back. The shocking news comes just weeks after speculation swirled about Hogan's health, with rumors circulating that he was in a coma or on his 'deathbed.' At the time, those claims were publicly denied by Hogan's wife, Sky, who told TMZ that 'his heart was strong' and that he was simply recovering from a recent spinal procedure. "No, he's definitely not in a coma! His heart is strong, and there was never any lack of oxygen or brain damage… none of those rumors are true," she said earlier this month. 'Hulk had pretty serious heart surgery a few weeks ago and was doing well afterward,' another source told UsWeekly at the time. It was also reported that Hogan had undergone a major neck surgery in May — an anterior cervical discectomy and fusion — and was experiencing post-operative symptoms. Close friend and longtime wrestling manager Jimmy Hart also pushed back on the rumors just last week, telling fans on social media, 'Hulk is doing great, doing phenomenal! Last night at karaoke with Nick was absolutely fantastic, baby!!!' Hogan, who had endured over two dozen surgeries in the past decade, including repeated operations on his back, knees, shoulders, and hips, was known to be living with chronic pain. Still, until Thursday, the tone from those around him remained positive. Born on August 11, 1953, in Augusta, Georgia, and raised in Tampa, Florida, Hogan became the face of professional wrestling in the 1980s. With his iconic handlebar mustache, red-and-yellow gear, and booming charisma, he was larger than life both inside and outside the ring. Hogan is survived by his wife, Sky Daily Hogan, and his children, Brooke and Nick, from his first marriage. The family has yet to comment publicly, and no funeral details have been released at this time. This is a developing story... Stars and Wrestling Legends React to Hulk Hogan's Death at 71 originally appeared on Parade. The world of wrestling is mourning the loss of one of its most iconic figures. Hulk Hogan, the legendary WWE Hall of Famer, has died at the age of 71, TMZ Sports was first to report. According to the outlet, emergency crews were dispatched to Hogan's home in Clearwater, Florida early Thursday morning following reports of cardiac arrest. The devastating news comes just weeks after Hogan's wife, Sky Daily, addressed swirling rumors about the former wrestler's health, firmly denying claims he was in a coma. At the time, she reassured fans that her husband's heart was "strong" and that he was continuing to recover from recent surgeries. In June, speculation surfaced that the wrestling icon was on his "deathbed," but sources close to Hogan clarified that he was dealing with complications from a neck surgery he underwent in May. As news of Hogan's passing spread, tributes from across the wrestling world and beyond poured in, honoring the culture icon, who was just as much known for his moves in the ring as he was for his larger-than-life persona and trademark handlebar mustache. Wrestling legend Ric Flair was among the first to react, sharing a heartfelt post on X (formerly Twitter). "I Am Absolutely Shocked To Hear About The Passing Of My Close Friend @HulkHogan!" Flair, 76, wrote. "Hulk Has Been By My Side Since We Started In The Wrestling Business. An Incredible Athlete, Talent, Friend, And Father! Our Friendship Has Meant The World To Me." Flair also posted a series of throwback photos of the two over the years, opening up about their long-lasting friendship. "He Was Always There For Me Even When I Didn't Ask For Him To Be. He Was One Of The First To Visit Me When I Was In The Hospital With A 2% Chance Of Living, And He Prayed By My Bedside," Flair continued. "Hulk Also Lent Me Money When Reid Was Sick. Hulkster, No One Will Ever Compare To You! Rest In Peace My Friend!" Brooke Shields also shared a throwback of her and Hogan, which saw the pair arm wrestling on the set of her '90s sitcom, Suddenly Susan, alongside co-star Kathy Griffin, who was seen grinning from ear-to-ear as she refereed the test of strength. "Rest easy, Hulk. This moment and his entire guest episode on 'Suddenly Susan' was a true highlight," the model-actress, 60, wrote. "Sending love to all of his loved ones today 🖤." Dave Portnoy, founder of Barstool Sports, echoed the sentiment: "The Hulkster was a true 1 of 1 American icon. A part of America died today. Rip to a true legend." UFC head, Dana White, kept his tribute short and sweet, sharing a photo of Hogan that simply read, "RIP Hulk." The WWE, meanwhile, issued a statement on social media: "WWE is saddened to learn WWE Hall of Famer Hulk Hogan has passed away. One of pop culture's most recognizable figures, Hogan helped WWE achieve global recognition in the 1980s. WWE extends its condolences to Hogan's family, friends, and fans." Longtime NBA Player Allegedly Stole $250,000 From Vegas Casinos
Longtime NBA Player Allegedly Stole $250,000 From Vegas Casinos originally appeared on The Spun. Marcus Morris Sr. made more than $100 million over the course of his 13 years in the NBA. But the 35-year-old veteran has reportedly gotten himself caught up in a troublesome fraud charge that led to him being arrested in Florida over the weekend. According to reports, Morris, who last played for the Cleveland Cavaliers two years ago, is alleged to have stolen more than $250,000 from a pair of prominent Las Vegas casinos. Per court documents obtained by TMZ Sports, Morris is claimed to have gotten $115,000 out of the MGM Grand Hotel & Casino through bad checks that he never paid back. And then about a month later, authorities claim the former Kansas star pulled something similar at the Wynn Las Vegas resort where he allegedly netted $150,000 through checks he knew wouldn't cash. Morris' agent Yony Noy took to social media to dismiss the claims made against his client. Calling them "absolute insanity" and saying there was "zero fraud." "Just so everyone understands this is zero fraud here or whatever crap outlets have said regarding fake checks or whatever the hell," Noy posted to X. "This is due to an outstanding marker with a casino. Apparently if you have over $1,200 they can issue a warrant for your arrest. Absolute insanity!" Marcus' twin Markieff also weighed in on the situation where he similarly shut down the headlines made by his brother. "The wording is crazy," Kieff said. "Damn for that amount of money they'll embarrass you in the airport with your family. They got y'all really thinking bro did some fraud [expletive]. They could have came to the crib for all that. When y'all hear the real story on this [expletive] man. All I can say is Lesson learned. Bro will tell y'all tomorrow. This weird [expletive] gave me a headache. Can't stop nothin!" Both of the Morris twins had been appearing on ESPN as analysts recently where they'd regularly make cameos on programs like "First Take" and "Get Up." Under Nevada state law unpaid casino markers are treated as bad checks, according to multiple law firms. And if not repaid within a specified timeframe, they can be treated as a class D felony which could result in a 1-4 year prison NBA Player Allegedly Stole $250,000 From Vegas Casinos first appeared on The Spun on Jul 29, 2025 This story was originally reported by The Spun on Jul 29, 2025, where it first appeared.
