Italian Journalist Reveals ‘If Atalanta Hadn't Sold Retegui, Lookman Would've Already Joined Inter Milan'
The editor of the Corriere dello Sport took to Instagram to detail the Bergamo club's rationale in responding to Inter's offer for Lookman.
This is likely to be the decisive day in Inter Milan's pursuit of Ademola Lookman.
The Nerazzurri made their second offer for the Nigerian international earlier this week. They upped their bid from €40 million to €42 million plus €3 million in add-ons.
Atalanta have not yet given Inter a formal response. But they will give the Nerazzurri their answer today.

Naturally, La Dea have to consider a number of factors.
On the one hand, Atalanta had already managed to keep hold of Lookman last summer. And reportedly, they told the former RB Leipzig and Everton forward he could leave this summer.
However, Atalanta are hardly going to allow such an important player for them to leave lightly.
Zazzaroni: 'If Atalanta Hadn't Sold Retegui, Lookman Would Already Be At Inter'

And in the meantime, Atalanta just sold one of their talismanic attacking players.
Striker Mateo Retegui joined Al-Qadsiah this summer. The Saudi club did pay a massive fee to Atalanta for the Italian international, but this left a big void in their attack.
Naturally, the departure of Lookman would only further deprive La Dea in attack.
There have been reports that Atalanta want up to €50 million for Lookman.
However, according to Corriere dello Sport editor Ivan Zazzaroni, who first broke the story of Inter's interest in Lookman, 'in reality Atalanta have never set a price tag for Lookman.'
'So it's not easy for Inter to get close to a valuation that doesn't exist.'
Zazzaroni cautions 'let's wait and see.'
'If Retegui hadn't left, Lookman would have already been an Inter player weeks ago.'

🎥 Stunning curling effort enough to lift Girona past Wolves
LaLiga side Girona were the ones smiling by full time on Sunday following a 2-1 victory over the Premier League's Herrera 51', Roca 56'; Arias 78' Following a goalless first half, it was two moments in the span of five minutes that undid the visitors in Spain during an entertaining second half. Yangel Herrera opened the scoring after redirecting a cross into the box before the goal of the night secured the victory beautifully. A stunning curling effort from Joel Roca found the top right corner as the stadium erupted and he celebrated with fans, arms outstretched. Wolves, wanting to give some extra legs a few minutes during pre-season, then made five changes. One man entering the game was Jhon Arias, who made his first appearance for the club. And it was quite the individual moment, too, as he pulled one back 12 minutes after coming on. Arias broke into the box and fired the ball high beyond the goalkeeper, but his late efforts were not enough to inspire a turnaround, seeing things end 2-1. 📸 Judit Cartiel - 2025 Getty Images

Barcelona Reject Chelsea Offer That Includes €45M-Rated Man Utd, PSG-Linked Attacker
Manchester United and PSG have been linked with Christopher Nkunku this year, as questions continue to grow over his future at Chelsea. Nkunku joined Chelsea from RB Leipzig in 2023 in a £52 million move, but injuries and strong competition have limited his impact. With doubts surrounding his role, transfer speculation is starting to build. Journalist Ben Jacobs previously reported that PSG explored a potential reunion with Nkunku earlier this year but chose not to move forward. Meanwhile, TEAMtalk reported Saturday that Chelsea are open to selling and could drop their asking price to around €45 million as they look to trim their wage bill. The report also notes that Nkunku, who scored 15 goals in 48 appearances last season, is believed to be the club's fourth-highest-paid player. Inter are also said to be keeping an eye on the situation and could explore a loan or other flexible options. Man Utd, PSG target won't be going to BarcelonaAccording to Mundo Deportivo, Barcelona have rejected Chelsea's proposal to include Nkunku as part of a deal for Spain midfielder Fermin Lopez. In July, L'Équipe reported that Nkunku is expected to cost between €35 million and €40 million this summer. Bayern Munich are among the few clubs Nkunku would be open to joining, but there haven't been any concrete talks yet. Manchester United and Inter Milan have recently made inquiries, while Bayern Munich remain interested. However, they are currently focused on other priorities.
