Three Notre Dame women's basketball players named All-Americans
Hannah Hidalgo and Olivia Miles are the first two players people think of when it comes to Notre Dame women's basketball these days. After all, both are considered among the best players in the country.
But Sonia Citron is equally important to the Irish, and that has been proven with her being named to this year's AP All-American Team alongside Hidalgo and Miles. It's a sign of how tough the Irish will be to take down in the NCAA Tournament, even with their late-season slump.
Hidalgo is only the fourth player in history to be named to an AP First Team All-American as both a freshman and sophomore. Miles is an AP Second Team All-American for the second time, previously becoming one in 2023. Both players also have been named All-Americans for those respective teams by the USBWA.
Citron has been named to the AP All-American Team as an Honorable Mention. She recently was named First Team All-ACC and ACC All-Defense.

Taylor Fritz beats Canadian Gabriel Diallo in Toronto in 3rd round of National Bank Open
TORONTO (AP) — Second-seeded Taylor Fritz of the United States beat 6-foot-8 Canadian Gabriel Diallo 6-4, 6-2 on Friday night in the third round of the National Bank Open. Lehecka beat 15th-seeded Arthur Fils of France 3-6, 6-3, 6-4. The 27-year-old Fritz is No. 4 in the world. He has 10 career ATP Tour titles, winning this year on grass at Eastbourne and Stuttgart. In the late match, fourth-seeded Ben Shelton outlasted fellow American Brandon Nakashima 6-7 (8), 6-2, 7-6 (5). Shelton will face 13th-seeded Flavio Cobolli of Italy. In the afternoon, sixth-seeded Andrey Rublev of Russia beat Lorenzo Sonego of Italy 5-7, 6-4, 6-3. 'In the second and third sets, I was able to play more aggressive, fewer mistakes,' Rublev said. 'Let's see what's happening next, I'm super excited and motivated.' Seventh-seeded Frances Tiafoe of the United States edged Aleksandar Vukic of Australia 6-3, 4-6, 6-3 to set up a match with Washington winner Alex de Minaur of Australia. It's Ledecky vs. McIntosh in the 800 freestyle, the centerpiece of the world championships
SINGAPORE -- It's Katie Ledecky against Summer McIntosh in the final of the 800-meter freestyle, probably the most anticipated race at the swimming world championships in Singapore. The race is one of six finals on Saturday, but it overshadows everything else on Day 7. The championships wrap up on Sunday. Ledecky of the United States holds the world record (8 minutes, 04.12 seconds) set earlier this year. The 28-year-old American has dominated the distance for a decade and has already won gold in the 1,500 in Singapore. She also has a bronze in the 400. Ledecky, 28, has won nine Olympic gold medals — the most decorated female in history — and her first gold was in 2012 in the London Olympics in the 800. McIntosh is an 18-year-old Canadian. She's already won three golds in Singapore and she swam just a second off Ledecky's time earlier this year. If anyone is to dethrone Ledecky, it's McIntosh. This would be McIntosh's fourth gold as she goes for five individual golds in the worlds, a feat only achieved the legendary American swimmer Michael Phelps. The other five finals are: the women's 50 butterfly; the men's 50 free; the women's 200 backstroke; the men's 100 butterfly; and mixed 4x100 freestyle relay. The Americans and Australians have each won five gold medals through six days. The Americans lead in overall medals with 20, although their performance has been lackluster and slowed after much of the team came down with a case of 'acute gastroenteritis' in training camp in Thailand.

Jarren Duran's 4 RBIs, Bello's one-run outing give Boston 13-1 win over Twins in series finale
MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — Jarren Duran went 3-for-5 with a home run and four RBIs, Trevor Story hit his second homer in as many games, and the Red Sox earned a series win with a 13-1 victory at Minnesota on Wednesday. Red Sox starter Brayan Bello yielded one earned run on five hits in seven innings with four strikeouts. The Dominican right-hander has recorded a quality start in nine of his past 10 outings. Boston finished the month 17-7 and has the American League's fifth-best record at 59-51. Minnesota (51-57) is 4-8 since the All-Star break and sits fourth in the AL Central. Story's 17th home run of the season gave Boston a 1-0 lead in the second inning. Abraham Toro had an RBI sacrifice fly in the third, and Duran's two-run single in the fifth made it 4-1 and ended starter Zebby Matthews' day. Matthews (2-3) gave up five earned runs on eight hits with four strikeouts. Red Sox third baseman Alex Bregman sat to rest the quadriceps that kept him out for seven weeks.
