An explosive new report claims Lando Norris is now playing second fiddle to Oscar Piastri as McLaren has made its decision. Famously at the beginning of the season, team papaya was letting the two drivers push each other, holding neither back while splitting resources between them evenly. But it seems that's over.Supposedly, the deciding factor came in the Canada Grand Prix on lap 67 when Norris hit Piastri. Team rules are few, but one is a an obvious: don't hit your teammate. But Norris clipped the rear tire of the MCL39 being driven by Piastri right at the end of the race as the two were fighting to claim fourth.
The contact resulted in Norris spinning out, hitting the outside of the pit wall. Arguably, the whole thing was his fault, so it was only fair he suffered the consequence. And apparently more consequences are coming as McLaren has now decided Piastri is the one to push for the championship.
Ultimately, Piastri won out in the Canada GP, getting the fourth place finish while Norris picked up a disgraceful DNF. It was a sad outing for a team that's been dominating the Formula One season as neither driver achieved a podium finish.
Former F1 driver Ralf Schumacher told Sky Deutschland, 'I believe that it is now internally decided that Piastri is the man the team will focus on in terms of the World Championship,' reports Planet F1.
'Lando shows too many weaknesses and makes too many mistakes, including his senseless driving into the back of Oscar in Canada,' he went on to explain.
Unlike another prominent driver in F1, Norris did admit he screwed up and apologized to the team and his teammate after the race.
Even though Schumacher says he believes McLaren has chosen Piastri, he still believes Norris is faster. But the problem with the more seasoned driver is 'he has lost his nerve a bit.'
Can he get it back and pull things together? Would McLaren reverse its alleged decision? There's plenty on the line as the F1 season progresses.

Piastri leads Norris by 22 points in the standings and will be right behind his teammate on the grid after the Australian qualified third. Piastri had to abandon his last lap when Alpine's Pierre Gasly spun in front of him and said he was confident of having the pace to challenge on Sunday. complaining of a lack of grip in qualifying.
