The best new summer foods at Trader Joe's right now

Time Out3 days ago
It's a mild joy, but an important one: cruising through the aisles at Trader Joe's and looking for the 'new!' signs. We love the constantly updating foods and the packaging that really tries to be beautiful (for instance, the sparkling black tea box literally has gold embossed lettering). And while the food options are inventive, we also like to choose a bouquet, a greeting card or two (cool designs and only 99 cents), and some household items like candles or shampoo—but not toothpaste; we don't recommend the TJs brand. Here are our six choices for summer 2025.
1. Sparkling black tea with peach juice beverage
The title is oddly redundant with the words tea, juice and beverage—is this Trader Joe's answer to SNL 's Business Garden Inn & Suites & Hotel Room Inn? But the packaging lets us forget our quibbles: the dramatic black box with orange and yellow sides is eye-catching, plus the illustration of peaches is gorgeous, and there are even gold accents in the lettering of 'sparkling' and 'beverage.' This upscaled packaging holds four narrow cans inside, and the cans, too, are beautifully designed. As for the taste, we didn't really get a tea feeling for this; it's more of a sparkling water with hints of fruit.
2. Deli sandwich-style potato chips
Given how much we adored the Thanksgiving stuffing seasoned kettle chips last year (thanks for giving us a free bag last year when we weren't sure we were ready to commit and even bolting to the back wall to fetch it, nice checker!), we were predisposed to love these too. A kettle chip seasoned to taste like ham, pickle, cheese and mustard all at once, this chip honestly really does taste like an entire sandwich. How did Trader Joe's even get the idea to create this chip? How did they know we needed a sandwich in chip form? On further tasting, it seems like the pickle flavor dominates. And that's great, because pickles are having a moment.
3. Donut nectarines
Packaged in a clear plastic clamshell with a handle for carrying—as if you're bringing it along as luggage on your trip, and maybe you should—the selection of donut nectarines really looks like donuts. The fruit is somehow flattened and ovoid and reminiscent of its sweeter cousin across the aisle. The nectarines are crunchy and delicious and you have four in the package for sharing.
4. Kahawa 1893 Safari blend coffee
We were drawn to the signage, which indicated that this coffee was a favorite among local Trader Joe's employees and that the business is Black woman-owned. The packaging shows a monkey, parrot, mountain range and trees and bushes in a pleasing color scheme, and this medium roast bag of whole beans is 100 percent Arabica. With notes of caramel and milk chocolate, it's a good choice for a sweet cold brew this summer. The brand emerged from a 2023 Shark Tank pitch by third-generation Kenyan coffee farmer Margaret Nyamumbo, with all beans sourced from women farmers. Kahawa means coffee in Swahili.
5. Mango tangerine scented candle
This throwback item is only on the shelves for a limited time; it's the first scented candle Trader Joe's offered and now it's back if you can snag it. It's made of a soy wax blend (not paraffin, if you're worried about toxins releasing into the air while the candle burns) and the wick is 100 percent cotton, all tucked into a cute tin with an understated label. Does it smell good? Only if you love bright citrus and feeling like you're in the tropics.
6. Roti with Thai red curry
Strictly speaking, this isn't the newest of the new; it rolled out last year. People who have already reviewed this frozen vegan meal online love it but feel that three rotis are too much given the small amount of curry. The curry is pretty spicy, but we like that. The roti flatbreads (similar to an Indian paratha) can be put in the air fryer to reawaken their crispy flakiness, and you tear off pieces to scoop up the curry as a finger food. It does come at a high calorie count: 830 for the whole package.

Boden's £18 'perfect' shirt that 'doesn't crease' is a hit in 7 colours

We all have those days where we need to throw on a T-shirt and head out of the door, but there's no reason for the top to not look stylish. Instead of reaching for an old tee at the bottom of your wardrobe, it's worth considering one of Boden's popular options. In fact, shoppers are so pleased with the Isla Jersey Shirt that they're snapping it up in multiple colours. Originally priced at £46, shoppers can now grab the blue or white version with a whopping 60% discount, now just £18.40. Crafted from a soft cotton and modal blend, the Isla Jersey Shirt is cut in a straight and regular, easy shape that's neither too tight nor too loose. It's designed to fall between the waist and hip, making it a versatile piece for both casual lunches or office wear. For money-saving tips, The top is finished off with raglan sleeves that add a sophisticated touch to the otherwise casual blouse. Shoppers can pick it up in sizes four to 22, most of which are still available online. If you like the silhouette but not the light blue colourway, not to worry. It also comes in pink paisley, priced at £41.60, white, £18.40, cerulean blue, £26, iguana green, £31.20, purple damson, £27.60, and ivory floral, which costs £52, reports the Manchester Evening News. Elsewhere, shoppers can bag two t-shirts for £40 over at White Stuff. Included is the Nelly Notch Embroidered Tee in blue, which retails for £35, as well as the £25 Abbie Tee, which is available in four colours. At Nobody's Child, the chic Black Gingham Tie Front Bernadetta Blouse has seen a price drop to £34 from its original £55. Meanwhile, Roman offers a White Eyelet Detail Embroidered Crinkle Blouse with a 10% discount when using the code FRESH at checkout, reducing the price to £23.40 from £26. Over at Boden, the Isla Jersey Shirt is receiving high praise, boasting a 4.4-star rating from over 60 reviews. A happy customer commented: "So great I bought another. A really pretty summer top, true to size and comfortable to wear." Another happy buyer remarked: "Absolutely love this top, so cool in the hot weather, doesn't crumple or crease. The material is soft and comfortable, that's why I bought three in different colours. "Absolutely love this shirt," declared another. "Planning to purchase another in a different print. Light and perfect for summer. Fit was great - sleeves are not tight at all, and love the fabric." However, one shopper wasn't as impressed with the Isla Jersey Shirt, describing it as 'shapeless' and leaving a three-star review: "The pink pattern is lovely but the fabric is very lightweight - the cut was on the large side and quite shapeless." They added: "Not sure what was going on, it's as though AI designed it, the neckline sat at an odd level, undoing the buttons did not make it look like the photos online. Plus, I was expecting a lot more from this price point." However, another shopper was thrilled with their recent Boden buy, stating: "I bought this top in pink a few weeks ago and liked it so much, bought it in blue. Great fit, lovely material and both have been well admired."

I Shop For A Living – This Is The Dress Trend Cool Girls Reach For Every Summer

& Other Stories, Linen Mini Dress M&S, Pure Cotton Square Neck Midaxi Dress Nobody's Child, Black Vera Midi Dress Faithfull, Hedy Strapless Gathered Maxi Dress Ganni, Black Cotton Poplin Tie String Mini Dress COS, Pima Cotton Halterneck Dress Rixo, Seraphina Midi Dress H&M, Broderie Anglaise Shirt Dress Zara, Flowing Midi Dress With Elasticated Detail ME+EM, Cheesecloth Relaxed Midi Day Dress In the rankings of wardrobe essentials, a black dress is practically royalty, up there with those faded blue jeans you've been wearing for years. No matter how many vivid floral midis and sorbet-hued pastel frocks summer brings to the table, there's something about a little (or long) black dress that's just so chic. Personally, I've flirted with this season's heavy hitters – yes, I mean butter yellow dresses and a brief obsession with drop waist maxis – but every time I need to feel put-together with absolutely no effort, I invariably reach for a black dress, and for good reason. Whether I'm slipping into a tailored black shirt dress for the office, styling a slinky slip for date night, or throwing on a crocheted black dress at the beach, it's a staple that always delivers. The best black dresses for the summer are basically as close as you can get to a style cheat code, and somehow they're better than ever this year. ©Instagram/@dualipa ©Getty Images/PG/Bauer-Griffin/GC Images Don't believe us? Take a closer look at the A-list, many of whom have been taking their black summer dresses out for a spin, on and off the red carpet. Emily Ratajkowski wore a sleek midi at a recent Gucci event, while Vanessa Kirby was spotted in not one, but two breezy black dresses in New York. For more casual takes, both Dua Lipa and Alexa Chung casually styled black lace dresses on holiday recently. Proof that no matter if your style leans towards boho, relaxed casual or sultry, a black dress nails every summer brief with polished ease. An antithesis to summer's ubiquitous white dresses, a black frock is naturally more forgiving, easily hiding that occasional iced coffee spill and grass stain. However, it's the wardrobe staple's wide spectrum of use that really sells it for us, ranging from sexy silk and satin designs to formal takes (think shirt dresses and modest midis) and more casual constructions in cotton and linen in all shades of black from deep black to faded charcoal. From classic A-line or column silhouettes to trendy sheer, draped and drop-waist designs, black summer dresses are imbued with a timeless charm that'll last for years to come. Of course, not all black dresses are created equal, and every major label, luxury or high-street, has a few options. Earlier this summer, Ganni's belted summer dress, made waves on Instagram and sold out in record speed, while most of us at Grazia snapped up Zara's viral lace dress last week. If you're looking to splurge, the style set is especially taken with Doen's Ischia dress. The celeb-loved bestseller is proving incredibly popular thanks to its smocked bodice, adjustable waist tie and an A-line skirt that suits literally every body. ©Instagram/@ilanatorbiner Dôen,Ischia Dress For a more affordable alternative, we've also been eyeing & Other Stories' linen mini dress with a simple shift silhouette that'll work wonders across body types (even if you're under 5'2"). The breezy construction will keep you cool while the simple boatneck adds a sophisticated flair. ©instagram/@anastasiia_kostrub 2. & Other Stories, Linen Mini Dress A universally flattering icon, the best black dresses will keep you looking sharp even on the days when getting dressed feels like an impossible task. Styled simply with straw basket bags and suede sandals for the summer, the best ones will layer effortlessly under knits and jackets come autumn. Upcoming trip to the Med, that black-tie wedding, sweltering work commutes, or al fresco brunchs; no matter what's on your calendar, there's a perfect black summer dress for you, and we've curated the best below.
