Coca-Cola inaugurates new $31.5 mln production line in Egypt - Markets & Companies
Up to 95 percent of the project's components will be sourced locally, according to a statement released by the Ministry of Industry and Transport on Tuesday.
Deputy Prime Minister for Industrial Development Kamel El-Wazir highlighted that the new production line is the fastest and most advanced in the Middle East and one of the most efficient among Coca-Cola Hellenic's global facilities.
The line has a maximum output of 120,000 cans per hour and an annual capacity of 172 million litres. El-Wazir said it will significantly boost the company's operations in Egypt.
El-Wazir further called on Zoran Bogdanovic, CEO of Coca-Cola Hellenic, to consider expanding the factory's operations with new production lines to increase exports and collaborate with the Egyptian government on training local workers.
This call aligns with Egypt's target to raise exports to $145 billion by 2030, he added.
He suggested that training programs could be offered at El-Sewedy Academy or even through a dedicated school under Coca-Cola Hellenic to prepare qualified employees for the company's operations in Egypt and globally.
Bogdanovic expressed his satisfaction with the new facility, emphasising Egypt's potential as a promising investment destination.
He also noted that the Sadat City factory is one of the company's largest, with a strong reliance on solar energy.
The factory currently provides 300 job opportunities and receives robust support from the Egyptian government.
Additionally, he said that Coca-Cola Hellenic recently launched a digital services centre that exports technological services to 27 international markets, creating an additional 450 jobs.
In press statements during the opening event, El-Wazir described the Sadat City factory as a successful industrial model for Egypt.
The factory spans 82,000 square meters and has an annual production capacity of 720 million litres.
El-Wazir mentioned that while most of the production is aimed at the local market, the company plans to expand exports to Arab countries shortly.
He expressed confidence in Egypt's industrial prospects, assuring local and international manufacturers that the Ministry of Industry is committed to supporting struggling factories by offering 15 percent funding for priority industrial sectors to purchase production lines.

The launch was inaugurated with an initial introductory session held in Toronto, in partnership with the Mosaic Foundation. The event featured Hussein Darwish from the Dubai International Program for Writing (DIPW) and Hind Zareef, Director of the Mosaic Foundation. During the session, Hussein Darwish emphasized the Knowledge Lounge as a community-driven knowledge initiative rooted in the belief that knowledge plays a key role in shaping individuals and societies. It also provides a platform for open discussions and interactions among readers, authors, researchers, and experts from various fields. Hind Zareef expressed pride in the Mosaic Foundation's partnership with MBRF, highlighting it as a key contribution to the world of reading and a significant step in showcasing the Arabic language globally. She also emphasized the importance of knowledge-driven collaborations in raising intellectual standards and improving the reading preferences of the Mosaic Foundation's members. Additionally, she stressed the importance of strengthening communication with the Arab world through MBRF and its role in nurturing strong emotional bonds and fostering a shared sense of belonging to a rich civilization that has historically linked East with West and North with South. As part of its initiative, MBRF launched the Knowledge Lounge in Sydney and Melbourne, Australia, earlier in March 2025. The move was in collaboration with the Federal Youth Foundation of the UAE, represented by the Global Youth Council in Australia. The expansion reflects MBRF's increasing efforts to broaden the scope of the initiative and reach a larger international audience. In Dubai, the initiative will host a Writing Lounge session focused on Nancy Kress's book on novel-writing techniques, along with discussions on 'Cold Fear', a short story collection by Aisha Sultan, and 'The Year of the Fat Cats' by Abdulwahab Al-Hammadi, both to be held at the Mohammed bin Rashid Library (MBRL). In Khor Fakkan, a session will be held at the Platform Café in the Al-Sidra Heritage Area to discuss 'Margins on Cities, Travel, and Departure' by Aisha Sultan. In Abu Dhabi, a virtual session will focus on 'The Girl on Paper' by Guillaume Musso. Two sessions will be held in Al Ain, one on 'Sugar Street' by Nobel laureate Naguib Mahfouz, and another on 'Truth and Writing' by Bothayna Al-Essa. Egypt PM says recent economic crisis over, calls for price cuts - Society
Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly said on Tuesday that Egypt has overcome its recent economic crisis, calling for a tangible drop in commodity prices. 'All indicators of Egypt's economic performance are positive, but the current prices of goods do not align at all with this improvement,' Madbouly said at a meeting with merchants and manufacturers in New Alamein City. He urged identifying causes that will lead to a downward trajectory in prices. 'Just as prices rose in previous periods due to the challenges we faced, they must now decline,' a cabinet statement quoted Madbouly as saying. He underlined the government's efforts to ensure the availability of various goods and production inputs for factories. 'We have succeeded in achieving this through full stability and a commitment from the banking system to provide all the foreign currency requirements for imports over the recent period,' he said. Madbouly stressed that citizens now need to see a genuine drop in commodity prices, particularly given the recent strengthening of the Egyptian pound against the US dollar. The Egyptian pound has seen a modest appreciation against the US dollar, with the official exchange rate falling below EGP 49 for the first time since late October 2024, nearly nine months ago. Since early 2022, Egypt has faced prolonged economic pressures, including a foreign currency shortage that drove up prices of most goods, particularly food. In response, the government began implementing measures to boost US dollar liquidity in the domestic market, aiming to release goods stockpiled at ports and restore market stability amid soaring inflation. Madbouly instructed the President of the Federation of Egyptian Chambers of Commerce to convene the heads of all commercial chambers and agree on genuine price reductions across a range of goods. CBE governor hosts Nigerian counterpart, showcases new banknote production facility
Hassan Abdalla, Governor of the Central Bank of Egypt (CBE), hosted Olayemi Cardoso, Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), and his delegation for a series of strategic discussions aimed at expanding bilateral cooperation between the two central banks. The meeting, which took place at the CBE's headquarters, focused on enhancing collaboration in key areas of banking and finance. Following the discussions, Abdalla escorted Cardoso on a tour of the New Administrative Capital's Printing House, where the Nigerian delegation was introduced to the full process of banknote production—from design to final delivery. The tour showcased the facility's advanced technology, anti-counterfeiting security measures, and quality control protocols, ensuring precision at every stage of banknote production. In addition to the tour, the visit provided an opportunity for the CBE and CBN delegations to exchange technical expertise on a variety of subjects. The Egyptian side shared insights into its progress in fields such as Supervisory Regulations, Basel Frameworks, Monetary Policy, and Macroprudential Policy, in addition to its work in IT, FinTech, cybersecurity, and data science. The meeting also included a session with the Egyptian Banking Institute (EBI), the CBE's training arm, to explore its capacity-building programs for banking sector professionals. On the occasion, Abdalla reaffirmed Egypt's commitment to strengthening relations with African countries and praised Nigeria's growing role in regional economic and financial affairs. He also congratulated Cardoso on Nigeria's successful hosting of the African Export-Import Bank (Afreximbank) meetings the previous month, thanking Nigeria for its hospitality. In his remarks, Olayemi Cardoso highlighted the importance of the visit as an opportunity to deepen financial cooperation between Egypt and Nigeria. He expressed admiration for the Printing House's advanced technologies and robust security measures, noting that the CBN looks forward to leveraging Egypt's expertise in the banking sector. This visit follows Abdalla's official trip to Nigeria at the end of last month, where he participated in the 32nd Annual Meetings of Afreximbank under the theme 'Building the Future on Decades of Resilience,' attended by African leaders and heads of state.
