The actress revealed how Ekta spotted 'Prena' in her after watching Aane Wala Pal. However, Ekta decided to do a little prank before finalising her as the lead character on the show.
Shweta recounted, 'One day she said, 'Call Shweta to my cabin, I want to take her case as this is not done. She cannot come late to my sets.' I was so scared to go and meet her after the pack-up. It was around 9:30-10 pm and she was sitting on a sofa. I was scared because I was new. She said, 'I have heard you come late on my sets. What do you think? We will wait for you?' Later, she started laughing and said she wanted to offer me Kasautii Zindagi Kay. She said, 'Prerna is my dream. I want you to play that.'
Ekta finally asked Shweta if she could do the role. She was in a perplexed stated, and decided to take a few months to figure it out. However, after one month, Shweta received a call from Balaji productions. She was asked to do a look test, and give audition on the sets of Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi.
