PMK leader Anbumani Ramadoss releases logo for his statewide tour
Chennai, Jul 23 (PTI) PMK leader Dr Anbumani Ramadoss released the logo for his statewide tour, 'Tamil Nadu People's Rights Retrieval Journey,' on Wednesday.
Despite differences with his father and founder of PMK Dr S Ramadoss over control of the Vanniyar dominated party, Anbumani announced plans to take out the statewide tour and released the logo on the social media platform 'X'.
His one-hundred-day programme commences on July 25 at Thiruporur in neighbouring Chengalpattu district and concludes on November 1 in Dharmapuri.
He has been interacting with the party functionaries at the district level. He announced the 'Tamil Nadu People's Rights Retrieval Journey'. This journey aims to create awareness among the people to restore their rights that were allegedly taken away due to 'bad governance', Anbumani claimed.
'The DMK government is preventing the people of Tamil Nadu from enjoying 10 fundamental rights granted to all people by the Indian Constitution including Right to social justice, women's right to a life free from violence, right to agriculture and food, right to good governance and basic services, right to be free from the effects of alcohol and drugs," the former Union Minister said in the post.
'I would like to embark on a 'Tamil Nadu People's Rights Retrieval Journey' with the noble aim of restoring all the rights to the people of Tamil Nadu, and thereby ensuring good governance for them," he said.
The culmination on November 1, also marked the Tamil Nadu Day, he said sharing the logo with the catchphrase: 'Reclaim Rights… Save Generations." PTI JSP ADB

Sonia, Kharge, Rahul, Akhilesh join opposition leaders in protest against SIR
New Delhi, Jul 28 (PTI) Several MPs of the INDIA bloc parties, including Congress chief Mallikarjun Kharge and Congress parliamentary party chairperson Sonia Gandhi, protested in the Parliament House complex on Monday against the Election Commission's voter roll revision in Bihar, and demanded its rollback. Ahead of the day's proceedings in Parliament, top opposition MPs, including Sonia Gandhi, Kharge, Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi, Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, Samajwadi Party's Akhilesh Yadav, TMC's Derek O'Brien and Sagarika Ghose, DMK's Kanimozhi and A Raja, besides others, raised slogans and protested against the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in Bihar. There was a huge banner in front of them which read 'SIR- Attack on Democracy' as they lined up on and near the steps of the Makar Dwar of Parliament and staged a protest for the fifth consecutive day. With 'Stop SIR' placards in hand, several MPs of the opposition, including those of the Congress, DMK, TMC, Samajwadi Party, RJD and Left parties, participated in the protest and raised slogans. The opposition has been protesting in both Houses of Parliament against the SIR, alleging the EC's exercise was aimed at 'disenfranchising voters" in Bihar ahead of the Assembly elections. They have been demanding a discussion on the issue in both Houses. On Friday, several MPs of the INDIA bloc parties, including Kharge and Rahul Gandhi, had held an unusual protest in the Parliament House complex against the voter roll revision in Bihar by tearing posters with 'SIR' written on them and putting them in a 'disposal bin'. They had also staged a protest march in the complex, demanding the rollback as well as a discussion on the issue in both Houses. Asian shares mixed after Wall Street sets more records for US stocks
Agency: PTI Last Updated: Bangkok, Jul 28 (AP) Stock markets in Asia were mixed on Monday after US stocks rose to more records as they closed out another winning week. US futures and oil prices were higher ahead of trade talks in Stockholm between US and Chinese officials. European futures rose after the European Union forged a deal with the Trump administration calling for 15% tariffs on most exports to the US. The agreement announced after President Donald Trump and European Commission chief Ursula von der Leyen met briefly at Trump's Turnberry golf course in Scotland staves off far higher import duties on both sides that might have sent shock waves through economies around the globe. Tokyo's Nikkei 225 index lost 1% to 41,056.81 after doubts surfaced over what exactly the trade truce between Japan and US President Donald Trump, especially the $550 billion pledge of investment in the US by Japan, will entail. Terms of the deal are still being negotiated and nothing has been formalized in writing, said an official, who insisted on anonymity to detail the terms of the talks. The official suggested the goal was for a $550 billion fund to make investments at Trump's direction. Hong Kong's Hang Seng index gained 0.4% to 25,490.45 while the Shanghai Composite index lost 0.2% to 3,587.25. Taiwan's Taiex rose 0.3%. Elsewhere in Asia, South Korea's Kospi was little changed at 3,195.49, while Australia's S&P/ASX 200 rose 0.3% to 8,688.40. India's Sensex slipped 0.1%. Markets in Thailand were closed for a holiday. On Friday, the S&P 500 rose 0.4% to 6,388.64, setting an all-time for the fifth time in a week. Panchayat-Like Drama Unfolds As Bihar MLA Threatens Village Secretary For Not Recognising Him
Last Updated: As the village secretary fails to recognise the MLA, the latter allegedly threatens to hit the former with a shoe. A real-life incident mirrored a scene from the web series Panchayat when a dispute erupted between an RJD MLA and a local panchayat secretary. A purported audio clip, which is now viral on the internet, records a spat between the two after the latter failed to recognise Bhai Virendra, a legislator from Maner in Bihar. The MLA can be heard threatening to hit the secretary with his shoes after he fails to recognise him. The call by the MLA was made to enquire about the status of a death certificate for one Rinki Devi. The secretary answers the call but fails to recognise the MLA, prompting a sharp response. 'You don't know Bhai Virendra? You want me to introduce myself? The whole country knows me," the purported voice of Bhai Virendra can be heard saying. The secretary responds, saying he is not scared and will only show respect if the MLA speaks to him respectfully. 'If you speak respectfully, I will do the same. If you talk crooked, I will talk crooked. I am not scared of you," he can be heard saying. 'Joote se maarunga (I will hit you with a shoe), and you can file a case if you want. You don't follow protocol. You dare to say who is Bhai Virendra?," the MLA threatens. The secretary, however, maintains that he was not aware of the MLA's identity and asks about the work he called to enquire about. 'Please talk about the work. Your request is already in process," he said. 'You have no right to this job if you don't know your local MLA. Transfer? This won't stop at transfer. Where are you even from?" The MLA asks.
