Uddhav Sena Clarifies Stance: Not Anti-Hindi; Distances Itself From Stalins Stance On Language Policy

India.com2 days ago
A day after Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin extended support to Uddhav and Raj Thackeray in their fight against Hindi imposition, Uddhav Sena MP Sanjay Raut clarified that the Thackeray brothers' stance is only against Hindi imposition in primary schools.
"The Southern states have been fighting for this issue for years. Their stand against the imposition of Hindi means they will not speak Hindi and neither let anyone speak Hindi. But that is not our stand in Maharashtra. We speak Hindi... Our stand is that the strictness for Hindi in primary schools will not be tolerated. Our fight is limited to this,' ANI quoted Raut as saying.
Raut said Uddhav Sena's stance on language policy is different from Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin's, as the party is only opposed to the imposition of Hindi in primary education.
'MK Stalin has congratulated us on this win of ours and said that he will learn from this. We wish him the best. But we haven't stopped anyone from speaking in Hindi because we have Hindi movies, Hindi theatre, and Hindi music here... Our fight is only against imposition of Hindi in primary education... Yes, the two brothers have come together for politics, but what have they come together for?" ANI quoted Raut as saying.
On Saturday, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin welcomed the reunion of estranged cousins Shiv Sena (UBT) president Uddhav Thackeray and MNS chief Raj Thackeray over the Maharashtra government's withdrawal of orders implementing the three-language policy.
Stalin's remarks came after Uddhav and Raj Thackeray appeared together in public for the first time in 20 years to celebrate the move. The cousins shared the stage, embraced, and declared that the "distance" between them was now gone.
In a post on X, Stalin said, 'The language rights struggle, waged generation after generation by the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam and the people of Tamil Nadu to defeat Hindi imposition, has now transcended state boundaries and is swirling like a storm of protest in Maharashtra.'
Praising Uddhav Thackeray, Chief Minister Stalin said, "The enthusiasm and powerful oratory of the victory rally held today in Mumbai under the leadership of brother #UddhavThackeray against Hindi imposition fills us with immense excitement," Stalin said in the post.

Maharashtra language war: Is it with an eye on Mumbai municipal polls? Experts debate

The language controversy in Maharashtra has escalated, with Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) workers protesting and allegedly assaulting non-Marathi speakers in Mumbai suburbs. This comes ahead of crucial municipal elections, raising questions about whether this is a genuine fight for Marathi pride or a political strategy. The Thackeray cousins, Uddhav and Raj, have united on this issue, while the BJP denies accusations of imposing Hindi. The Congress and NCP have taken a cautious approach so far. Critics argue this may be more about control of the BMC's large budget than language issues. The controversy has sparked debates about cultural identity, language policy, and political opportunism in Maharashtra. The issue of Marathi language and identity has resurfaced in Maharashtra politics, with opposition parties uniting against a government order on Hindi language education. Shiv Sena UBT leader stated the party's commitment to promoting Marathi while respecting other languages. The NCP accused the government of failing to address public concerns and provide concrete solutions for Marathi language promotion. BJP faces criticism over comments by MP Nishikant Dubey. The debate has reignited discussions on Marathi pride ahead of BMC elections, with speculation about potential alliances between Uddhav and Raj Thackeray. The issue highlights ongoing tensions between regional identity and centralized education policies.

Sena may revive Operation Tiger to counter possible reunion of Thackerays

Pune: Shiv Sena politicians are planning a fresh round of Operation Tiger to poach members of Sena (UBT) to counter the possible reunion between Thackeray cousins for the upcoming civic poll. UBT chief Uddhav Thackeray and MNS chief Raj Thackeray came together after almost 18 years to address a joint rally in Mumbai over the Marathi-Hindi language row on Saturday. During the rally, Uddhav hinted that the cousins would likely stay united politically. Although there has been no formal announcement from either party about an alliance for the civic poll, Mahayuti members have started to take action to counter a possible reunion. Sena members as also political observers feel the Thackeray reunion may affect deputy chief minister Eknath Shinde's party in Mumbai, Thane, Pune, Nashik and Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar. Therefore, they are approaching UBT members in these cities. The party had initiated a similar strategy after the assembly poll and named it Operation Tiger. "Over the last few months, several UBT politicians have joined Sena, since they see a bright future with us. Many former members of UBT want to be with the govt, despite talks regarding the Thackeray cousins coming together. We will induct some of them into our party soon," said the senior Sena member.

‘Government is deeply broken': Elon Musk questions people's faith in Trump amid Epstein files row; US President dodges question

ANI file photo Elon Musk , former ally of US President Donald Trump , has once again brought the Jeffrey Epstein controversy into the spotlight. The Tech billionaire publicly questioned US President Donald Trump's credibility over the unresolved Jeffrey Epstein case, accusing the government of shielding offenders and calling it 'deeply broken. ' In a series of provocative posts on X, Musk criticised Trump for not releasing the so-called 'Epstein client list' and mocked the lack of arrests, even suggesting the former president may be implicated, a claim he later retracted. 'They arrested (and killed) Peanut, but have not even tried to file charges against anyone on the Epstein client list. Govt is deeply broken," said Musk. He posted an image that read, 'More squirrels and raccoons have been arrested than anyone on Epstein's client list.' 'How can people be expected to have faith in Trump if he won't release the Epstein files?' he posted on X on Wednesday. On Monday, Musk targeted Trump over the Epstein case, posting an arrest counter, 'What's the time? Oh look, it's no-one-has-been-arrested-o'clock again …' he posted on his X account. 'The Official Jeffrey Epstein Pedophile Arrest Counter 0 0 0 0,' the image he posted read. On Tuesday, Trump avoided answering a question by a reporter on the Jeffrey Epstein case and said, 'You are a waste of time,' stressing that the country is dealing with 'other issues' like the Texas flood. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like 5 Books Warren Buffett Wants You to Read In 2025 Blinkist: Warren Buffett's Reading List Undo The US Department of Justice and the Federal Bureau of Investigation on Monday concluded that sex offender Jeffrey Epstein was not murdered, as per Axios. The memo suggested that Epstein allegedly died by suicide and also did not keep a 'client list' keeping a tab of individuals to whom minor girls were trafficked. Elon Musk accused Donald Trump of being in the 'Epstein Files' but later deleted his posts, admitting that he went 'too far.' Earlier this year, Attorney General Pam Bondi made a claim that a 'client list' was apparently sitting on his desk for review, which fueled speculation among conservative influencers and conspiracy theorists that such a list truly existed. But an announcement by the DOJ debunked such claims, stating that no such list has been found in Epstein's records. This announcement has drawn criticism from conservative internet and media personalities as it contradicted what Bondi claimed. Elon Musk posted a meme on his X account featuring a clown applying makeup, referring to the contradictory statements previously made by Bondi and the memo released by the DOJ earlier on Monday. He also reposted a post from another user that read, 'If the entire govt is protecting pedophiles, it has officially become the govt against people. I hope you all understand that.' Jeffrey Epstein was convicted of being a sexual offender and was accused of running a vast network of underage girls for sex. He died in 2019 while in custody.
