Coronation Street star Gareth Pierce has announced he will be taking part in a massive event for a Welsh charity.
The Welsh actor, best known for playing Todd Grimshaw in the ITV soap opera, took to social media to share he would be embarking on the gruelling challenge of the CARTEN100 for a brilliant cause. This year marks the 21st year of the annual event, which sees cyclists travel from Cardiff to Port Talbot, then to Swansea and Carmarthen, before finishing their journey in Tenby in Pembrokeshire.
According to its organisers while the main aim is to get people on their bikes without the pressure of it being a "race" a huge benefit of the day is the money the riders raise for charity. For the latest TV and showbiz gossip sign up to our newsletter .

"That's amazing to have hit that already. If we can keep it ticking upwards this week and I think we'll get a really, really great total.
"I'll be making a donation of my own as well. Just been for a little jaunt up the canals of Manchester on the single speed. It's just about keeping the legs spinning this week. It's taper week."
He then laughed: "Listen to me sounding like I know what I'm talking about.
"Anyway, lots and lots of love. I'll try and update you on the day and, yeah, thank you very much."
In response many fans and participants alike shared their support for the actor.
Stunt performer and celebrity chef Mathew Pritchard commented: "See you Saturday man".

Jules Peters pays tribute to 'legend' Ozzy Osbourne
In 2018, Osbourne lent his support to Jules and Mike Peters' Love Hope Strength (LHS) Foundation, inviting the team to join his tour to help add more people to the stem cell donor registry Jules said: "Love Hope Strength has had some incredible supporters through the years, and continues to do so, some of whom have been very well known. All of whom have played an important role in helping fulfil LHS' mission to save lives one concert at a time. "We were so grateful when Ozzy Osbourne lent his voice to the Love Hope Strength Foundation back in 2018 and invited LHS to get folk on the list during his tour. He was kind, considerate gentleman as well as being a truly incredible rock star. "Despite being known as the Prince of Darkness, Ozzy brought a lot of light to people affected by blood cancer by helping people to become potential stem cell donors on his tour. "Sending love, hope and strength to Ozzy's family, friends and all who loved him and his music at this sad time." Music superstar Osbourne died at the age of 76 on July 22, just weeks after a Black Sabbath reunion concert held in his home city of Birmingham. A statement said: 'It is with more sadness than mere words can convey that we have to report that our beloved Ozzy Osbourne has passed away this morning. He was with his family and surrounded by love. We ask everyone to respect our family privacy at this time.' Earlier this month, Osbourne bid a farewell to fans with a Black Sabbath reunion, telling thousands of heavy metal enthusiasts at Villa Park, Birmingham – a stone's throw from where Black Sabbath was formed in 1968 – that it was 'so good to be on this stage' as he performed his last set from a large black throne. Osbourne and his fellow original Black Sabbath members – Tony Iommi, Terence 'Geezer' Butler and Bill Ward – were the last to appear on stage as part of the star-studded line-up for the Back to the Beginning concert. Rock star Mike, frontman of Welsh rock band The Alarm, died from blood cancer on April 29 aged 66 - more than 30 years after he was first diagnosed with chronic lymphocytic leukaemia (CLL) at the age of 36 The Love Hope Strength Foundations operate in the USA, UK and Australia. The foundation aims to "help save and change lives one concert, one step, one helping hand at a time" through partnering with cancer care specialists across the globe, and offering support to families affected by cancer. A key part of LHS's activities is to encourage people between the ages of 17 and 55 to register as blood stem cell donors.

After making it through to the final round, Mark had his skills put to one final test, going against the clock to answer questions on the catchphrase pyramid. The 51-year-old, best known for hosting Match of the Day 2 and BBC Radio 5 Live, was left stumbling over his words as the clock ticked down. But would you have any luck? In the clue, Mr Chips was filling up his white van with petrol. The gauge went from E for empty to full, which had an icon of a brown cowboy hat. Mark made several unsuccessful guesses from 'full gallon' to 'filling the tank' to 'one gallon hat'. Do you get it? The answer was: It's full to the brim. Mark was unfortunately unable to figure it out in the timeframe, though he didn't go home empty-handed, earning an incredible £14,000 for his chosen charity. Watch as Celebrity Catchphrase star flounders over tricky puzzle and misses out on big money Mark and Kelly Cates were announced as Gary Lineker's Match of the Day replacements in January, with Gabby Logan making up the new-look trio. The former England striker spent 26 years as MOTD host and saw his pay reach a whopping £1.35 million per year. Mark pocketed a cool £325,000 last year for his work with the BBC, which included 120 episodes of Radio 5 Live, the Olympics, Euro 2024 and, of course, Match of the Day 2. Despite his array of stellar work, 'Chappers' earned more than £1m LESS than his MOTD predecessor, Lineker - who officially quit the BBC in June - last year alone.
