Over 228 special camps under the Ungaludan Stalin outreach programme will commence across Krishnagiri district to enable access to the various government schemes starting from Tuesday (July 15, 2025). The district administration has planned 228 special camps to be spread over from July 15 to October 14. This envisions 70 camps from July 15 to August 15; 78 camps from August 16 to September 15, 78 camps from September 16 to October 14.
Earlier, briefing the media about the special camps, Collector C. Dinesh Kumar said, 13 departments will provide 43 services in urban areas, and 15 departments will provide 46 services in rural areas through these special camps.
The administration has appointed 2,200 volunteers, carrying door-to-door visits, distributing applications and pamphlets. A total of 5,29,228 households are proposed to be covered. As of last week, 40,000 households have already been covered by the volunteers, the Collector said.
Those who have been missed out for Magalur Urimai Thogai scheme may avail these camps to apply. Each camp will also host a separate counters for the Chief Minister's comprehensive insurance scheme and for Aadhaar related services.
The venues of the camps will be updated weekly in the respective neighbourhoods by volunteers and through media every Friday for the upcoming week.

Over 21,000 people with disabilities in Coimbatore have benefited from a range of welfare measures—from mobility aids to mobile phones—under schemes rolled out over the past four years, with the total assistance crossing ₹8 crore, according to the district administration. A total of 21,963 people received support worth ₹8.48 crore through schemes implemented by the Department for the Welfare of the Differently Abled. Assistive devices such as walkers, wheelchairs, petrol scooters with side wheels, motorised sewing machines, walking sticks, hearing aids, braille watches, and braille readers were distributed. National identity cards were issued to 6,764 persons, and Unique Disability ID (UDID) cards to 12,559. Under the self-employment loan subsidy scheme, ₹30.08 lakh was disbursed to 126 beneficiaries. Marriage assistance totalling ₹30.50 lakh was extended to 74 persons. Nine individuals received ₹4.5 lakh to establish milk product sales centres under Aavin. Battery-operated wheelchairs worth ₹61.62 lakh were distributed to 52 persons, while modified scooters worth ₹5.42 crore were provided to 533 beneficiaries. Mobile phones worth ₹1.10 crore were given to 684 persons, and assistive devices worth ₹39.65 lakh to 1,162 individuals. The Department for the Welfare of the Differently Abled has also invited applications for educational assistance for the 2025–26 academic year. Students with disabilities from Class I to higher education, including diploma, ITI, postgraduate, and research programmes, are eligible. A separate reader assistance grant is available for students with visual impairments in Class IX and above. Applications must be submitted online through e-Sevai centres by July 20, 2025, with relevant documents including disability and medical certificates, Aadhaar, UDID card, ration card, mark sheet, bonafide certificate, and a copy of the bank passbook. Applications for reader assistance must be submitted directly to the District Welfare Office.

Options for next rounds Candidates who have accepted their allotted seat and successfully reported to the college in Round 1 will remain eligible for upgradation in Round 2. This means they can be considered for a higher-preference seat based on availability and merit. Those who were not allotted a seat or are dissatisfied with their current allotment can still participate in Rounds 2 and 3 by registering again and re-submitting their choices as per the revised schedule. However, candidates who were allotted a seat in Round 1 but failed to report within the stipulated time will lose their current allotment and will not be eligible for Round 2.
