Meghan Markle and Prince Harry's Megxit conversation 'years before' family told

A private conversation between the Sussexes has been decoded by lip readers who claim it gives a bombshell insight on their plot to quit the Royal Family
A private chat between Prince Harry and Meghan Markle has been interpreted by lip readers. It supposedly reveals a telling exchange that has led to speculation they were considering their departure from the Royal Family long before their US move.

The discreet conversation took place at a service of remembrance at Westminster Abbey in 2018, six months following their lavish wedding at Windsor Castle. The Sussexes were in attendance alongside the full royal clan, including the late Queen Elizabeth II.

New Channel 5 documentary, Lip-Reading The Royals: The Secret Conversations, delves into this moment as Harry and Meghan sat awaiting the start of the ceremony, engaging in what appeared to be a significant conversation.

Lip reading specialist Nicola Hickling analysed the exchange for the show, suggesting Meghan prompted Harry to "take advantage of the situation", her gaze then sweeping over the gathering of royals as reported by the Mirror.
She says Harry responded to her comment by asking: "Today?", as Meghan added: "Do it tonight." Then, Harry poses a question to Meghan, asking: "You do realise that this is the end?" as Meghan responds: "Yeah, I do know".

Royal historian Dr Tessa Dunlop has suggested that these seemingly private remarks between the Sussexes could indicate that the pair had been orchestrating their departure from the firm years before they ultimately chose to step down.
Despite having the exchange towards the end of 2018, they welcomed first child Prince Archie six months after. They continued working their senior royal duties for another eight months following his birth.
Harry and Meghan confirmed their departure from the Royal Family in January 2020, releasing a joint statement on Instagram announcing they would be "taking a step back" as senior working royals, whilst noting they would "plan to balance our time between the United Kingdom and North America".

Their announcement also stated that departing the Royal family and moving to California would provide them with the chance to bring up their son Archie "with an appreciation for the royal tradition into which he was born, while also providing our family with the space to focus on the next chapter."
Previously in the couple's Netflix series, Harry confessed they had been preparing the bombshell relocation from the UK for "a minimum of two years".

In 2018, Harry revealed that they had considered relocating to New Zealand or South Africa and were close to moving to South Africa before the press heard rumours of it.
However, Harry stated that they had to abandon the plan as it turned into a "public debate", leading them to urgently seek a new residence while staying in Canada in January 2020.

Now five years on after their split from the Royal Family, there's speculation about potential reconciliation talks between Prince Harry and his father King Charles. Top aides for both royals were seen engaging in discussions at a private club in London.
This encounter has sparked curiosity over whether the aides were arranging a meeting between the King and Harry for his anticipated visit to the UK in September. Notably absent from the discussions were any representatives for Prince William, who is known to have a strained relationship with his brother.
Harry has recently expressed a wish to mend fences with his family, stating in a candid BBC interview in May that he "would love a reconciliation" with the King and William. He confessed to being weary of conflict and voiced concerns about Charles' wellbeing, saying he "did not know how much longer [his] father has."
In the same interview, the Duke also mentioned: "I would like to get my father and brother back."

BBC Radio legend exposes huge music icon as the most 'unpleasant' celeb she's ever interviewed

Radio legend Jo Whiley said the star left her feeling "so tiny and so stupid" during their interview. BBC Radio One legend Jo Whiley has revealed the name of the rudest famous person she's ever interviewed in a jaw dropping confession. The 60-year-old veteran broadcaster interviewed countless stars during her time as a radio DJ. ‌ However, speaking to fellow presenter, Zoe Ball, on their Dig it podcast recently, Jo admitted there was one celebrity who shattered her confidence during an interview which left her feeling "stupid". When asked by Zoe if she had ever felt starstruck during an interview, Jo recalled an interview with one of the world's biggest rappers but it was memorable for all the wrong reasons. ‌ Jo told Zoe she was left feeling "so tiny" after interviewing hip hop legend Eminem, whose real name is Marshall Mathers, the Mirror reports. She explained: "I remember interviewing Eminem and Dr Dre one time and that was horrible. ‌ "I'd interviewed Eminem when he was very young and he was very shy and polite. He kept calling me "ma'am" all the time and he was really, really sweet and humble. "Then a couple of years later he came back on the show but with Dr Dre and the fame had happened and he was just this other creature altogether. ‌ "They were just so playful with me - and can I just say they made me feel so tiny and so stupid." ‌ It comes as the radio DJ insisted she is not slowing down any time soon after turning 60 last month and saying that she doesn't think milestone birthdays are a "big deal". The mum-of-five said that the interview with Eminem was overall "a really unpleasant experience" as she and Zoe chatted about being starstruck by the rich and famous. ‌ Her admission comes after the broadcaster opened up about how she had been struck down by anxiety at the height of her DJing career in the 90s. She told Woman's Health: "I remember doing one gig and I was just so scared, I thought I can't go on like this. This is ridiculous. "It's ruining my life because I'm just such a ball of anxiety. ‌ "But then I realised how happy it was making people when I do these gigs and that was a game changer." Jo, is still one of the most sought after DJs in the industry and insisted her 60th birthday, which she celebrated last month, is just the same as any other. Join the Daily Record WhatsApp community! "It's something that you very much don't want to be a thing, but it becomes a thing because everybody focuses on it and asks you about it constantly. "It's a bizarre situation to be in because I'm only another year older than I was last year, and a year younger than I will be next year. There's an obsession with reaching certain milestones due to your age. People focus on it too much."

Fake or Fortune guest lost for words as painting given five-figure sum

More info A Fake or Fortune guest was lost for words as his painting was given a five-figure sum. Robjn Cantus, who lives near Cambridge, bought more than 30 paintings during a "trolley dash" at an auction house back in 2020. He was particularly excited to pick up a painting by Vera Cunningham, which was one of two items in the same lot attributed to the artist. Robjn paid £35 for the pair, but only wanted one of them. On the latest episode of Fake or Fortune, which aired on Monday (August 4), Robjn was stunned to discover that the "by-product" painting was actually a forgotten original by Frances Hodgkins, which was worth around £50,000, reports the Mirror. (Image: BBC) Hodgkins is regarded as one of New Zealand's most revered expatriate artists. Mary Kisler, an art historian from New Zealand and Hodgkins expert, studied the painting on the BBC show. "You can read Robjn's painting as fitting in to a really large number of Hodgkins' works. When you lay those works side-by-side, you can see absolutely that Robjn's work fits among them," she said. "I do wonder if this is October Landscape," Mary added, referring to a painting by Hodgkins that had not been found. "I think it's a damn good one - I'd love to have it myself." Host Fiona Bruce added: "It's phenomenal... For Robjn, it's the find of a lifetime." (Image: BBC) Speaking to Metro about the staggering valuation, Robjn shared his surprise, saying: "I did wonder if it was the painting of a schoolchild when I first saw it. "I didn't really think much of it, just shoved it into an air-conditioned barn, and it went into my storage area to be forgotten." Robjn also remained adamant that his rare item isn't for sale, adding: "Since filming, I've forgotten about it, really. "For many viewers, the show is all about wealth - but I bought the painting in 2020, and I've got to the end of this journey. "To have it authenticated after trying for all those years is worth more than the value." Fake or Fortune is available to stream on BBC iPlayer

Meghan toasts to ‘beautiful day' as she launches new rose wine

Meghan released her As Ever Napa Valley Rose 2024 – described as evoking the same 'soft notes of stone fruit, gentle minerality, and a lasting finish' as the 2023 rose – on Tuesday. It comes after the previous rose, launched last month, sold out within an hour. In a video posted on her Instagram, Meghan can be seen uncorking a bottle marked 'Bottle #1' in front of bouquets of pink and cream flowers – followed by close-up of the cork bearing the As Ever logo. Alongside the clip, she wrote: 'Here we go! First bottle off the line! 'Toasting to a beautiful day: Our Napa rose is live @aseverofficial.' As with the previous wine, the beverage is priced at more than £67 for a minimum three-bottle order – and only appeared to be available for US customers to buy, with shipping addresses limited to America. As Ever is Meghan's lifestyle brand which also sells cookie mix, herb tea, flower sprinkles and jams. A post on the company's Instagram show the corks branded with the As Ever logo, with a caption reading: 'C'est l'heure. 'Enjoy your last sips of summer with the newest vintage of our beloved Napa Valley rose.' The website describes the drink as 'thoughtfully curated by Meghan, Duchess of Sussex' and that it has been 'made to be enjoyed with the ones you love'. The pale pink wine, which comes in a clear bottle with a white, gold-rimmed label, has an ABV (alcohol by volume) of 13.5% – one percent lower than its predecessor. As with the 2023 rose, the newest wine is not available to buy in orders of less than three bottles. Three bottles cost 90 US dollars (around £67), six bottles cost 159 dollars (around £119) including a 12% discount, and 12 bottles are priced at 300 dollars (around £225) including a 17% discount. Meghan and the Duke of Sussex left the UK and moved to California five years ago for a new life after stepping down from the working monarchy. Napa Valley wine country is in northern California, around 50 miles from San Francisco.
