Pakistan To Host South Africa For Three-Match ODI Series
Pakistan will host South Africa for a three-match ODI series in September 2025 and play a T20I series against Ireland in August. They also have the ODI World Cup in Sri Lanka.
To gear up for the 2025 Women's ODI World Cup, Pakistan will host South Africa for a three-match 50-over series, scheduled for September 16, 19, and 22.
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) announced that the team will engage in a three-match T20I series against Ireland in Dublin in early August. After the home ODI series against South Africa, Pakistan will head to Sri Lanka to compete in the ODI World Cup, playing their seven league-stage matches from October 2 to 24 in Colombo.
If Pakistan advances to the knockouts of the ODI World Cup, the semi-final will take place on October 29 and the final on November 2 in Colombo. Post this, Pakistan's women's international schedule will primarily focus on preparing for the 2026 T20 World Cup in England, happening from June 12 to July 5.
Pakistan will tour South Africa from February 7 to March 2, 2026, for three ODIs, marking the beginning of their campaign in the ICC Women's Championship 2025-29, and three T20Is. In April, Pakistan will host Zimbabwe for three ODIs and three T20Is, part of the ICC Women's Championship 2025-29, from April 24 to May 11.
Before heading to England for the T20 World Cup, Pakistan will participate in a T20I tri-series in Ireland, featuring the hosts and the West Indies as the third team. 'The upcoming season is significant, with major events such as the ICC Women's Cricket World Cup and ICC Women's T20 World Cup on the horizon."
'Our international schedule has been designed to ensure thorough preparation, with quality opposition that will enable the players to perform well and contribute to the team's success," stated Rafia Haider, head of women's cricket.
The PCB also mentioned that the women's Under-19 team is set to play a national T20 tournament in Karachi from September 15 to October 6. The top performers will be invited to a three-week skills development camp, followed by the pre-departure camp for a five-match T20I tour of Bangladesh in December.
'Our Pathways structure continues to evolve with the aim of building a strong future for Pakistan women's cricket. The U19 T20 tournament and the subsequent tour to Bangladesh will provide young players with valuable exposure and an opportunity to develop the skills required at the international level," added Rafia.

Professional Golf Tour Of India Set To Launch Franchise League
Last Updated: The PGTI league is expected to feature a one-on-one match-play format to increase spectator interest, inspired by successful models in other sports. The Professional Golf Tour of India (PGTI) is on the brink of launching a franchise-based league exclusively for professionals, tour CEO Amandeep Johl disclosed on Saturday. 'Yes, we are definitely going to start a league. We've got some very good offers, and within the next few weeks, we will sign a deal. It will be the PGTI League – strictly for professionals," Johl said. Johl elaborated that a franchise league must be centred around elite competition, explaining why the model excludes amateurs. 'A league can't be for amateurs. IPL is for professional cricketers. Football leagues around the world don't get amateurs to play, they field professionals. People come to watch high-quality sport, and golf is no different," he stated. The proposed format may include up to 10 franchises, each owning a roster of professional golfers in a team setup, with fixtures spread across several weeks. 'People want to come and watch high-class golf. My idea of a league is different from others – while some are doing it for amateurs, I want to do it for hardcore professionals," Johl asserted. 'If I'm a franchisee owner, I've got four, five, or six players on my team, and they go head-to-head with another team – one-on-one match play," Johl explained. 'Imagine Gaganjeet Bhullar playing Jeev Milkha Singh one-on-one, that's golf. People will come and watch that. People will say, 'I'm backing Jeev' or 'I'm backing Gaganjeet'. That's the kind of excitement we want to create," he concluded. With PTI Inputs view comments First Published: Disclaimer: Comments reflect users' views, not News18's. Kapil Dev Declares Ravindra Jadeja A Better All-Rounder Than Ben Stokes: 'He Is Performing...'
Last Updated: Kapil Dev believes Ravindra Jadeja is a better all-rounder than Ben Stokes, citing Jadeja's 'far better' performances. India's World Cup-winning all-rounder Kapil Dev believes Ravindra Jadeja is a superior all-rounder to Ben Stokes, saying his current performances are 'far better' than the Englishman. Dev's comments came on the sidelines of the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy, currently ongoing in England. Jadeja has scored 347 runs so far at an average of 86.75 plus five wickets. Whereas Stokes is the highest wicket-taker of the series with 16 scalps, while boasting around 300 runs too. Overall, Jadeja has 328 wickets (at 25.09) and 3717 runs (at 36.80) in 84 Tests, while Stokes has 229 wickets (at 31.64) and over 7,000 runs in 115 Tests. 'I don't want to compare. Stokes is a good all-rounder, but I still feel Jadeja is ahead. He is performing far better," Kapil, who is the president of PGTI, was as quoted by PTI on the sidelines of the PGTI Schedule announcement for the second half of 2025. Jadeja has been ranked at the top of the ICC all-rounder rankings for a few years now. Stokes is not too far behind at number six. Kapil Dev offers support to Shubman Gill, Anshul Kamboj Dev also offered words of encouragement and support for under-pressure captain Shubman Gill. 'Give him time. This is his first series, he will commit mistakes and there will be many positives over the period of time, he will learn. There is no problem if he is learning. There will be mistakes, but he is learning from his mistakes that is very important," Dev said. 'This is a young team, they are getting the opportunity to play and in the coming days these players will win. It is just a new team. Any new team in the world takes time to adjust. Gill is a new captain, and he will learn a lot and I think this series will be a learning step." He also staunchly defended his state-mate Anshul Kamboj, who couldn't pick more than one wicket in his first innings on debut. 'What do you expect from a debutant, that he should take 10 wickets? You have to assess his potential. If he's good enough, he will bounce back. Everyone is nervous when playing their first game. The result may not be ideal, but I believe the ability is there, and that's more important," he added. view comments First Published: July 26, 2025, 22:29 IST Disclaimer: Comments reflect users' views, not News18's. South Africa Choke Again, Fail To Score 7 Runs In Last Over Of Tri-Series Final
Matt Henry bowled the final over of the T20I Tri-series final in Harare on Saturday, and the 33-year-old pacer successfully managed to defend 7 runs to seal a famous win for NZ. South Africa needed 7 runs from six balls on Saturday (July 26) to win the T20I tri-series final against New Zealand in Harare, but they failed to score seven runs and went on to lose the match by three runs in a dramatic manner. At the end of 19 overs in the run chase, the South African team was cruising at 174/4, and the target was 181 runs. Just when everyone started thinking that the game was over for New Zealand, Mitchell Santner handed the ball to Matt Henry, and the 33-year-old fast bowler successfully managed to defend seven runs to secure a famous win for his team. On the first ball of the final over, he bowled a dot ball against dangerman Dewald Brevis and then on the second ball picked up his wicket. Brevis tried to play a big shot against Henry but was caught by Michael Bracewell near the boundary ropes. Brevis faced 16 balls and, with the help of one four and three sixes, scored 31 runs. On the third ball, Corbin Bosch also tried to play a big shot, but this time Bracewell failed to complete the difficult catch, and the South African all-rounder completed two runs to bring down the equation to 5 needed from 3 balls. On the fourth ball, Bosch ran one run to bring George Linde back on strike. On the fifth ball, when South Africa needed 4 runs to win from two balls, Linde tried to play a big shot down the ground, but Daryl Mitchell completed a super diving catch to stun South African fans. Linde's wicket on the penultimate ball of the run chase left South Africa needing a boundary on the last ball, but Senuran Muthusamy failed to score any runs. The clip of the final over by Henry was shared on X by FanCode, and within no time, the video went viral on the internet.
