Tejashwi Yadav running away from polls in desperation: BJP leader Amit Malviya
Malviya, who is the BJP's IT cell chief, wrote on X, 'Now with four days left, more than 98 per cent of the voter revision work has been completed. 'This is a big blow to Tejashwi and Rahul Gandhi.'
'Tejashwi Yadav's idea of boycotting the elections proves that he has accepted that the voters of Bihar have completely rejected his campaign against SIR (Special Intensive Revision),' said Malviya.
'There is a saying, 'As soon as the head is shaved, hail falls.' There are still two-three months left for the elections, but Tejashwi, sensing his slipping ground, has already started running away in desperation,' said Malviya.
The BJP leader went on to hit out at the former Bihar Deputy Chief Minister, saying, 'Earlier, Tejashwi boycotted the voter revision, thinking that the people of Bihar would stand with him. But the exact opposite happened - the people are enthusiastically participating in this SIR festival of democracy.'
Now with four days left, more than 98 per cent of the voter revision work has been completed. This is a big blow to Tejashwi and Rahul Gandhi, he said.
'All their hard work has gone to waste. Not a single voter from Bihar joined them in their campaign against SIR. This is a clear indication that Tejashwi and Rahul are hyping a baseless issue,' he said.
Earlier, Tejashwi Yadav hinted on Wednesday at the possibility of boycotting the upcoming Assembly elections to protest a 'deliberate' disenfranchisement of voters.
'When elections are not being conducted honestly, then why are we conducting elections? The elections have been compromised,' Yadav said in Patna.
The Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader alleged that under the guise of voter list revision, the BJP and the Election Commission of India (ECI) are working together to clean opposition voters rather than cleansing the democratic process.
On Thursday afternoon, the student wing of the Congress -- National Students' Union of India -- clashed with law enforcers in Patna while protesting alleged irregularities in SIR.
In Delhi, Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi accused the ECI of not doing its job and called it a 'serious issue'.
Gandhi warned that poll panel officials cannot get away with lapses as 'we are going to come for you'.
Refraining from answering media queries on the possibility of boycotting Bihar Assembly elections, Gandhi hit out at the ECI while addressing reporters outside Parliament and said, 'Today they have made a statement, and this is complete nonsense. The fact of the matter is that the ECI is not doing its job.'

Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) chief Mayawati on Saturday hit out at Congress leader Rahul Gandhi for his remarks admitting that Congress did not do enough for the backward classes. Rahul Gandhi, while apologising to the backward society, said that both he and his party failed to work as much for the backward classes as they should have, calling it a mistake. Reacting to this, Mayawati said, "Rahul Gandhi has admitted that Congress did not live up to the expectations of ensuring rights for the backward classes. This is nothing new -- it seems like selfish politics, saying something in the heart and something else on the tongue." In a post on X, Mayawati alleged that the Congress has never been sincere about the political and economic aspirations or constitutional rights of the OBC community, including reservation. She added that this attitude is not new and is similar to the Congress party's "sad and unfortunate" approach towards Dalits and tribals, which forced these communities to form their own political outfit -- the BSP -- out of self-respect and the desire to stand on their own feet. "As a result, Congress is now out of power in major states, including Uttar Pradesh. Nitish Kumar Hikes Journalists' Pension To Rs 15,000 Ahead Of Bihar Polls
In a major development, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Saturday announced a significant hike in monthly pension benefits under the 'Bihar Patrakaar Samman Pension Scheme' for all eligible journalists and their spouses. In a social media post on X, the Chief Minister informed that the state government has instructed the concerned department to increase the monthly pension amount for all eligible journalists from the existing Rs 6,000 to Rs 15,000. "I am pleased to inform that under the 'Bihar Patrakaar Samman Pension Scheme', instructions have been given to the department to provide a monthly pension of Rs 15,000 instead of Rs 6,000 to all eligible journalists. Additionally, in the event of the death of journalists receiving a pension under the 'Bihar Patrakaar Samman Pension Scheme', instructions have been given to provide their dependent spouse with a monthly pension of Rs 10,000 instead of Rs 3,000 for their lifetime," Chief Minister Kumar posted on X. The Chief Minister also emphasised the importance of journalists in a democratic society, referring to them as the fourth pillar of democracy and highlighting their vital contribution to social development. He said, "Journalists play a crucial role in democracy. They are the fourth pillar of democracy and have a significant role in social development. Earlier on Friday, the Election Commission of Bihar announced that 99.8 per cent of the state's electors have been covered under the ongoing Special Integrated Revision (SIR) process, as per the statement from the polling agency. The Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) of Bihar confirmed that forms of over 7.23 crore electors have been received and digitised, with their names set to be included in the Draft Electoral Roll, scheduled for release on August 1, 2025, added the statement.
