Tajik officers hail UAE model for international police leadership

DUBAI (ALETIHAD)Two police officers from the National Central Bureau of Interpol, Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Tajikistan, Lieutenant Colonel Mirahror Soliev and Lieutenant Colonel Saidov Kosim Abdukosimovich, have praised the UAE's forward-thinking policing model including the high standards of the Police Innovation and International Leadership (PIL) programme recently hosted in Dubai. Lieutenant Colonel Soliev, an experienced officer with a background in international coordination and UN missions, highlighted the exceptional organisation of the programme. 'Bringing together participants from 39 countries and delivering a seamless experience is a major achievement. It extends beyond the well-thought-out curriculum to encompass the complete structure, logistics, accommodation, and daily support. Even the smallest aspects were handled with professionalism that reflects Dubai's commitment to excellence.'Soliev also commended the integration of cutting-edge technologies such as artificial intelligence and drone patrol systems in Dubai Police's operations. He expressed particular interest in the 'Drone Box ' system, which he sees as highly adaptable for Tajikistan's terrain and security needs. 'This approach allows for faster response times and efficient resource allocation. It's a model we should study and consider applying at home.'Beyond the technical aspects, Soliev also highlighted the value of international networking. 'This has been a valuable opportunity to build real friendships and lasting professional connections. By the end, we felt like one family, united by a shared mission and mutual respect.'He also commended Dubai Police's strong commitment to consolidating international cooperation. 'The leadership has created a global platform that fosters real dialogue and exchange between nations. The programme demonstrated how policing innovation when shared openly, can serve as a bridge between diverse security cultures. Dubai Police has positioned itself as a hub for international collaboration.'Lieutenant Colonel Saidov Kosim Abdukosimovich, who also represented Tajikistan in the programme, echoed these sentiments, noting the rich exposure to advanced policing strategies and leadership frameworks. 'The practical field modules, especially those related to tactical operations and scenario-based training, were extremely beneficial,' he said. 'Additionally, the focus on leadership values, mental resilience, and physical fitness made this programme stand out.'Kosim praised Dubai Police's Positive Spirit Council for embedding community engagement and emotional intelligence into their organisational culture. 'The Positive Spirit initiatives are a powerful example of how policing can extend beyond enforcement to uplift communities and foster harmony. This holistic approach left a deep impression on me.'He added that staying physically fit and mentally balanced is critical in law enforcement roles. 'Activities such as team sports and guided fitness sessions reminded us of the importance of overall well-being in leadership and decision-making.'
Both officers extended their sincere appreciation to the Government of Tajikistan and their ministry for supporting their participation in this international initiative. 'It's through visionary Tajikistan's leadership that we are able to engage in programmes like this and return equipped with knowledge that can make a real impact,' Kosim said.

Dubai Police confiscate 656 scooters in Al Barsha in 2024
Dubai Police confiscated a total of 656 scooters in Al Barsha area alone last year due to various traffic law violations committed by the riders, authorities announced on Saturday. This statistic was revealed following an inspection visit at Al Barsha Police Station conducted by Maj-Gen Harib Mohammed Al Shamsi, deputy commander-in-chief for Criminal Affairs, as part of the annual inspection program for general departments and police stations. Al Shamsi reviewed initiatives of Al Barsha Police Station and also evaluated security coverage in the area, as well as average emergency response time, traffic accident fatality and crime rates. The inspection revealed a 100 per cent presence rate for on-duty officers at reporting locations, successfully meeting its target. Al Shamsi also focused on operations aimed at enhancing road safety, mitigating negative traffic behaviors, and apprehending violators through checkpoints established across various areas within the station's jurisdiction. The 656 scooters confiscated last year were due to traffic law violations committed by the riders, he noted. Meanwhile, in April this year, Dubai announced the launch of a special unit focused on monitoring violations by cyclists and e-scooter riders. The new Personal Mobility Monitoring Unit was created to improve traffic safety on cycling and e-scooter tracks while ensuring compliance with all relevant safety standards. Launched through a collaboration between the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) and Dubai Police, the unit is tasked to oversee adherence to traffic rules, managing the flow of traffic on cycling lanes, and promoting public awareness of safe riding practices. It can be noted that last year, Dubai saw 254 accidents related to bicycles and e-scooters, resulting in 10 deaths and 259 injuries, including 17 severe injuries, 133 moderate injuries, and 109 minor injuries. The issue of electric bikes and e-scooters being recklessly operated by unlicensed teenagers is one of the main concerns of UAE residents. Several parents and concerned residents have raised the issue of seeing some minors navigating busy roads and traffic lanes with little to no experience, often ignoring traffic laws and without any parental supervision.

UAE strongly condemns attack on UN Mission in Central African Republic
27 June 2025 18:33 ABU DHABI (ALETIHAD)The United Arab Emirates has strongly condemned the attack targeting the United Nations Multidimensional Integrated Stabilisation Mission in the Central African Republic (MINUSCA), near the town of Birao, which resulted in the death of a Zambian peacekeeper and the injury of a statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) underscored the UAE's strong condemnation of these criminal and terrorist acts, and its permanent rejection of all forms of violence, extremism and terrorism aimed at undermining security and Ministry reaffirmed that targeting UN and humanitarian missions constitutes a blatant violation of the principles of international law and UN Security Council Resolution 1701, stressing the UAE's full support for the vital role of MINUSCA in promoting security and stability in the Central African Ministry expressed its sincere condolences and sympathy to the family of the victim, and to the government and people of Zambia, as well as its wishes for a speedy recovery for the injured peacekeeper. The Ministry further expressed its solidarity with the United Nations and its humanitarian missions, and the countries contributing to international efforts aimed at achieving peace and stability in the region and worldwide.
