Man held from IGI Airport for posing as a cop to impress women
The CISF intercepted the man, identified as Sahil Kumar from Rajasthan's Alwar district, around 3.30 pm during routine profiling. He was wearing a T-shirt with the Delhi Police logo and carrying a forged ID card, Additional Commissioner of Police (IGI Airport) Usha Rangnani said.
During questioning, Sahil failed to provide any credible details about his posting.
He later admitted he was a student preparing for competitive exams and had no government job.
He told police he had impersonated a 2024-batch Delhi Police SI to deceive multiple women, including staffers from the force, and had come to the airport to meet one of them.
One Delhi Police staffer confirmed he had contacted her on social media posing as a police officer. Police recovered a fake ID card, forged appointment letter, documents, and a mobile phone with photos of him in uniform. He claimed he created the documents using Photoshop and bought the uniform from Delhi's Camp area, Rangnani said. Further probe is on.

NEW DELHI: Newly appointed Delhi Police Commissioner SBK Singh on Friday held a series of meetings with senior officers to assess the security arrangements in the national capital ahead of Independence Day, officials said on Friday. Singh, who took over as the 25th Delhi Police Commissioner, focused on the city's readiness for the major event at the Red Fort. According to officials, Singh emphasised the need for heightened vigilance, increased patrolling and enhanced surveillance measures in sensitive areas. In addition to security preparations, a crime review meeting was held with the city's 15 deputy commissioners of police (DCPs). The discussions centered on law and order across the capital. All DCPs were directed to strengthen night patrolling, tighten barricades, and implement stricter checks at major entry points, officials said. Singh directed that strict checking should be carried out at hotels, guest houses, bus terminals, railway stations, metro stations, malls and high-footfall markets. A senior police officer, requesting anonymity, said that Singh also stressed the need for plainclothes personnel to monitor public spaces discreetly for suspicious activities. 'The Commissioner highlighted the importance of inter-agency coordination and the timely sharing of intelligence in the broader security framework. Reviewing preparations for the Red Fort and other key venues, he instructed senior officers to personally oversee security drills and ensure the deployment of quick reaction teams, bomb disposal units, and sniffer dogs,' the officer added. SBK Singh, previously the Director General of Home Guards, replaced Sanjay Arora, who retired on Thursday. An alumnus of St. Stephen's College, the commissioner has had a distinguished 36-year career, investigating high-profile cases such as the Uphaar fire and the Ponty Chaddha murder, and serving in key roles across Delhi Police, the Research & Analysis Wing, and other state police forces.

Man Slapped By Co-Passenger On Indigo Flight Goes Missing, Claims Family
Guwahati: The man who was slapped by a co-passenger after a mid-air panic attack on an IndiGo flight has gone missing, his family in Assam has claimed, after they identified him in a video of the disturbing incident that has since gone viral. The man was identified by his family as Hussain Ahmed Majumdar, 32, from Cachar district of Assam. He was travelling from Mumbai to Silchar via Kolkata on Flight 6E-2387 on Thursday, when he suffered a panic attack. A panic attack involves sudden episodes of intense fear that trigger physical reactions. Two cabin members were helping him exit the aircraft when a passenger on an aisle seat slapped him, showed a video recorded by another passenger. The cabin members urged him not to get violent, while another passenger protested the violence. The assaulter was detained upon landing in Kolkata. Meanwhile, Hussain's failure to reach Silchar worried his family. They told reporters on Friday evening that he has neither arrived nor contacted them over the phone and that his phone is switched off. The man, who works at a hotel in Mumbai, had flown home on the same route multiple times in the past, said his family. Initially, some family members had gone to Silchar airport on Friday morning to receive him, not aware of the assault episode. But he did not turn up there. Later, they identified him from the viral assault video and tried to contact him, but his mobile was switched off, said his father, Abdul Mannan Majumdar. Neither IndiGo nor airport authorities could provide any information about his whereabouts, the family said, adding that they have also informed the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) officials posted at the airport. A missing complaint has also been filed at the local Udharbond Police Station. IndiGo Airlines, confirming the action taken over the assault incident, said the unruly passenger was detained by the CISF at Kolkata airport, and legal proceedings have been initiated against him. "We are aware of an incident involving a physical altercation on board one of our flights. Our crew acted in accordance with established Standard Operating Procedures (SOP). The individual involved was identified as unruly and handed over to security authorities upon arrival. All appropriate regulatory agencies have been duly informed, in line with protocol," IndiGo stated through a social media post. The statement did not give out details about the man who was slapped.

Cop, clerk held in graft case
State Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau on Friday arrested a clerk of a private school in Sonepat while accepting a graft of ₹30 lakh on the behalf of a Delhi Police inspector from the complainant. The accused were booked under various sections of the Prevention of Corruption Act. (Shutterstock) The accused clerk has been identified as Sandeep Kumar. The state vigilance and anti-corruption bureau also nabbed inspector Sunil Jain and the duo will be produced before a local court in Sonepat on Saturday. In a complaint to Rohtak unit of State Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau (earlier Anti-Corruption Bureau), Sonepat's Badwasni village resident Vipin Kumar said that his relative Praveen Lakra was booked in two separate cases over some dispute with another property dealer at Delhi's Alipur police station. 'The inspector Sunil Jain, who was probing the cases demanded ₹1 crore to remove my relative's name from one FIR and he assured us to take back some sections in another FIR. The deal was finalised at ₹70 lakh and we informed the vigilance team about the same,' he added. Inspector Pramila of the state vigilance and anti-corruption bureau from the Rohtak unit said that the clerk was working in a school owned by the inspector's brother. The accused were booked under various sections of the Prevention of Corruption Act.
