EA Sports College Football 26 player rankings: Who are best in video game?
With College Football 26 set to be released July 10 − July 7 for early access − EA Sports announced the top offensive and defensive players in the game, as well as who is at the top of each position.
It should be no surprise the top of the list include Heisman Trophy contenders, including the cover athletes of the game in Ohio State receiver Jeremiah Smith and Alabama receiver Ryan Williams. Other notable people include the other stars of major programs like Notre Dame, Texas and Clemson. While the rankings don't mean a team will actually have success in the upcoming season, it does give a good indicator of who are the top College Football Playoff contenders.

The standard edition of the game will have Alabama Crimson Tide star Ryan Williams and Ohio State Buckeyes wideout Jeremiah Smith. The deluxe edition features various athletes and fans of schools that are in the game. Advertisement Auburn got off to a decent start at home last season, going 2-1 in its first three games. The Tigers then dropped games to the Arkansas Razorbacks and Oklahoma Sooners at home. The team lost the following home game to the Vanderbilt Commodores before recovering, winning its final two games of the 2024 season at Jordan-Hare Stadium over UL Monroe and the Texas A&M Aggies. While the July 10 release of the game is exciting for Auburn fans, the Tigers' recent recruiting endeavors have been anything but. Auburn lost the race for tight end Xavier Tiller to the Florida State Seminoles. The team has also had longtime commits Devin Carter and Shadarius Toodle flip to different programs. However, On3's JD PicKell discussed how Auburn could right the ship this season. He believed it would all come down to Oklahoma Sooners transfer Jackson Arnold on a recent edition of "The Hard Count." Arnold played in 10 games, with nine starts, last season, throwing for 1,421 passing yards, 12 touchdowns, and three interceptions. While the interceptions do not look too bad, Arnold struggled more with fumbles last season. He fumbled the ball nine times in 2024. "Because when you play confident football, you usually play efficient football. Efficient football equates to somewhat low mistake football. Which is what plagued Arnold at Oklahoma." Advertisement Arnold was not the starter for long at Oklahoma last season. After a rough start against the Tennessee Volunteers, where he threw one interception and lost two fumbles, he was benched. Michael Hawkins Jr. started the next three games before Arnold was put back in the starting role for the remainder of the season. Fast forward to 2025, and Arnold is expected to compete for the starting job at Auburn. The Tigers added a solid weapon for the quarterback to use in former Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets receiver Eric Singleton Jr. In other recruiting news for Auburn, the Tigers were dealt a tough blow with five-star running back Ezavier Crowell after he committed to the Alabama Crimson Tide. Three-star offensive tackle Nikau Hepi was the first player from the NFL Academy Asia-Pacific campus to commit to a United States college.
