RON97 price drops four sen, RON95 and diesel unchanged in Malaysia
The Ministry of Finance confirmed the adjustment, while RON95 and diesel prices remain unchanged.
RON95 petrol stays at RM2.05 per litre, and diesel prices are maintained at RM2.15 per litre in Sabah, Sarawak, and Labuan, and RM2.91 per litre in Peninsular Malaysia.
The pricing follows the Automatic Pricing Mechanism (APM) formula, which adjusts fuel costs weekly based on global market trends.
'The government will continue to monitor global oil price trends and take appropriate measures to safeguard the welfare and well-being of the people,' the ministry stated. - Bernama

KOTA KINABALU: The development of a European Union-standard deep-sea seafood port in Kota Kinabalu is projected to contribute RM1.8 billion annually to Sabah's economy. These targets align with federal agricultural priorities. Agriculture contributes RM12.2 billion to Sabah's GDP, making up 14.5% of the total. This has prompted the state to adopt modern technologies like IoT and smart farming. These innovations aim to enhance efficiency, productivity, and youth participation in the sector. KUALA LUMPUR: Market regulators must operate with integrity and a facilitative approach to drive value creation and expand capital markets, particularly amid evolving challenges, said Securities Commission Malaysia (SC) chairman Datuk Mohammad Faiz Azmi. He emphasised that trust in fair treatment by regulators is essential for maintaining orderly markets. Mohammad Faiz highlighted the need for regulators to balance oversight with market development, avoiding excessive conservatism that stifles innovation. 'Building trust requires strong institutional frameworks. Like regional peers, we have a dual mandate: ensuring fair markets while developing them,' he stated during his keynote at the Malaysian Student Leaders' Summit. He noted the SC's role in expanding Malaysia's capital market from RM600 billion in the 1990s to RM4.1 trillion by 2023. However, he acknowledged setbacks in areas like digital assets and carbon credits, which are yet to mature. 'Our development mandate reassures the market of our growth commitment,' he added. The SC is reviewing strategies to address future challenges, including funding economic growth, inflation-beating returns, and retirement security. Medium-term priorities include climate adaptation financing and strengthening ASEAN ties post-tariff liberalisation. Mohammad Faiz also dismissed the notion that corporate failures always stem from blameworthy actions. 'Business disruptions or poor decisions often lead to downturns. Melaka prepares to host World Tourism Day 2025 in September
ALOR GAJAH: Melaka is nearly 90% prepared to host World Tourism Day (WTD) 2025 from September 27 to 29. State Tourism, Heritage, Arts and Culture Committee chairman Datuk Abdul Razak Abdul Rahman confirmed that programme content, venue selection, and international delegate invitations are almost finalised. 'We are in the final stages, with only 10 to 15% of work remaining. Invitations have been sent to tourism ministers worldwide, and we expect strong attendance,' he said after officiating the Wakil Rakyat Untuk Rakyat (WRUR) programme in Rembia. The main events will take place at a Melaka Raya hotel for the World Tourism Conference and at Kota Syahbandar's multi-purpose performance centre for the WTD 2025 Gala Dinner and Visit Malaysia Year 2026 launch. Abdul Razak highlighted the venue's suitability, stating, 'It will showcase Melaka's cultural diversity and strategic Straits of Melaka location to global delegates.' The centre will also feature performances from all 14 Malaysian states, open to both guests and the public. Separately, he praised the WRUR programme for effectively addressing local issues in seven constituencies, including Rembia. 'Public engagement has been strong, allowing direct interaction between leaders and communities. Many complaints have been resolved, proving its success,' he added. – Bernama
