21 arrested for oil palm theft, fraud in Hilir Perak
The operation, conducted on July 2, targeted 14 locations, including licensed mills and unlicensed traders.
Hilir Perak police chief ACP Dr Bakri Zainal Abidin confirmed the arrests involved 15 women and six men aged 20 to 63.
Among them were clerks, mill supervisors, and unlicensed traders. Two suspects had prior drug-related records.
Raids seized 18 items, including business licences from the Companies Commission of Malaysia (SSM), Malaysian Palm Oil Board (MPOB) permits, computers, and transaction receipts.
The suspects were remanded but later released on bail.
Investigations under Section 420 of the Penal Code revealed fraud, embezzlement, and document forgery.
Authorities will collaborate with the Inland Revenue Board (LHDN) for further legal checks.
A second phase of operations will target individuals linked to rising oil palm thefts in Hilir Perak. Police aim to restore public confidence by addressing these crimes. - Bernama

The 34-year-old suspect was fatally shot during a similar shootout with police at 7.50 pm in Bandar Puteri Jaya, according to acting director of the Bukit Aman Criminal Investigation Department (CID), Datuk Fadil Marsus. 'This was a special operation led by Bukit Aman CID in collaboration with several state contingents and all branches of the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM). 'Today, we encountered an individual believed to be part of a gang involved in a series of armed robberies across several states. Attempts were made to arrest him, but he resisted and a shootout ensued, leading to his death,' he told reporters at the scene. A pistol and several other items were recovered from the suspect, who had more than 30 prior criminal records. Fadil said police believe the suspect was also a key member of a criminal group, comprising over a dozen members, responsible for a string of armed robberies, gangsterism and drug trafficking dating back to 2022, which caused losses estimated at nearly RM6 million. 'Our investigations indicate this suspect was also involved in three recent armed robberies in Melaka, Negeri Sembilan, and Perak,' he added. Fadil emphasised that the police would continue to act aggressively to apprehend individuals involved in violent crimes, especially those involving firearms. Police seek suspect in string of sexual assaults on teen boys in Shah Alam
SHAH ALAM: The 25-year-old Pakistani man, suspected of being a serial sodomiser of teen boys, would result in physically assaulting his victims if they show any form of resistance. Shah Alam OCPD Asst Comm Mohd Iqbal Ibrahim said the suspect would resort to using a ruse of asking his victims for help or asking them to book an e-hailing ride before sexually assaulting them. "When the victims are distracted, the suspect would hug them from behind. "If they try to fight him off, he would punch or choke them before sodomising them," he said when contacted on Sunday (July 6). He said the police are still tracking down the suspect. "We believe he is still in the country," he added. It was reported that at least four boys have been allegedly sodomised by a Pakistani man in Seksyen 27 and 28 here. ACP Mohd Iqbal had previously said that since April, four police reports have been lodged on the serial sodomiser. "His victims are boys aged nine,13,14 and 19," he said. Four investigation papers have been opened under Section 14(a) of the Sexual Offences against Children Act 2017 and Section 377C of the Penal Code, he added.
