Loose FASTag users to be blacklisted by NHAI
The National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) is ready to take strict action against the national highway users who don't paste the FASTag stickers on the designated spot on the car windshield. The NHAI has further strengthened its policy of immediately reporting and blacklisting of loose FASTags, which is a practice commonly known as 'tag-in-hand'. The agency aims to take this step in an attempt to curb toll fraud and ease congestion at toll plazas.
The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) in an official statement has said that this move will make the toll operations further smooth. The release also stated that in view of upcoming initiatives like the Annual Pass System and Multi-Lane Free Flow (MLFF) tolling, it is critical to address this issue to ensure FASTag authenticity and system reliability. With the move, the authority has further streamlined its policy for the toll collecting agencies and concessionaires to immediately report loose FASTags.

Auto manufacturer Mahindra, as well as auto component manufacturer Uno Minda, are eyeing the local production of rare earth magnets in India with an aim to cut reliance on China. This plan is being devised keeping in sync with the Indian government's initiative to incentivise the production of the critical components.

He charged that the previous government had completely derailed the AP Fiber Net project, a visionary initiative launched between 2014 and 2019. No official word yet, Metro likely to fix faulty Sadar flyover landing
1 2 Nagpur: A month after Union minister for road transport and highways Nitin Gadkari admitted to Sadar flyover's faulty landing design and assured rectification, no govt agency has officially been assigned the task. While sources have confirmed that MahaMetro will carry out the rectification, the agency is yet to receive an official contract to begin the work. Built at a cost of Rs219 crore by the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), the 3.96-km Y-shaped flyover was inaugurated in January 2020 with the aim of easing traffic congestion in Sadar and adjoining areas. It connects Samvidhan Square to Katol road and Koradi road. However, the flyover's landing near Kasturchand Park on Kamptee road created a major traffic bottleneck that has led to persistent jams. To regulate traffic descending from the flyover, authorities were forced to shut the crucial Samvidhan square-LIC square stretch. Last month, Gadkari acknowledged the issue at a press conference and announced that Rs34 crore was proposed to fix the design and streamline traffic movement. Initial enquiries with NHAI revealed that it would not undertake the repairs. "The work will be carried out by PWD since it falls under the Central Road Fund (CRF)," an NHAI official said. However, PWD officials later confirmed that MahaMetro would execute the project. A senior MahaMetro official also confirmed the agency's involvement. "We have been informed that MahaMetro will be given the task. However, we are still awaiting the design-build contract (DBC) from the PWD. Once we receive it, we will begin the work," the official said. The lack of clarity and delay in assigning the rectification work — despite a ministerial assurance and the urgency of the issue — has raised questions over coordination among govt agencies. RS Software starts work to integrate global payments systems
Kolkata: Tech giant RS Software (India) Ltd, that had built the Unified Payments Interface (UPI) platform in 2015, is now working on a global payments integration platform to facilitate international trade flows. Raj Jain, CEO and MD of the company, said: "As UPI gains global recognition, govt has negotiated several bilateral agreements with different countries for the Indian diaspora to be able to pay for their purchases in those countries with UPI. We have worked with NPCI to execute many of these bilateral payment platforms' integration." RS Software is currently looking at bilateral payment platforms' integration in 10 countries, including the UAE, Singapore and France. Samik Roy, the newly appointed COO, will oversee the integration process. In 2024, the value of cross-border payment transactions was $162 trillion. Cross-border payments are challenged by issues like high fees, slow settlement times and poor transparency, making international transactions cumbersome and expensive. "This is where the opportunity is huge to help connect digital payment networks to facilitate global trade flows and make it easy for lower-value cross-border payments," said Jain. After the UPI platform launch, RS Software built the bill payments platform and in 2019 delivered the enterprise fraud and risk platform for the country.
