Virgin Media is giving away free smart TVs in summer sale
Virgin Media is back with another giveaway, this time dishing out free smart TVs in a surprise summer sale. The provider is offering customers a free 50" Hisense Ultra HD Smart TV or £200 bill credit to new customers who secure one of its TV and broadband bundles by Wednesday, July 9.
Usually, Virgin's giveaway deals are only available with its more pricey TV and broadband offerings, but the latest deal is much more affordable. The most budget-friendly bundle is the £44.99 Bigger Combo bundle + Movies, which comes with more than 200 TV channels including Sky Cinema HD, plus 363Mbps fibre broadband.
For those who prefer sports over movies, Virgin's £65.99 Bigger Combo bundle + Sports includes the same 362Mbps broadband and more than 200 TV channels, but swaps out Sky Cinema for eight dedicated Sky Sports channels. For those who fancy even more speed, the £78.99 Biggest Combo bundle boosts that broadband to a swift 516Mbps and piles on more than 210 channels, complete with both Sky Sports HD, Sky Cinema HD and even Netflix's Standard with ads plan.
The final option is Virgin's Mega Volt bundle at £84.99 a month, which boasts all the bells and whistles including more than 230 TV channels featuring Sky Sports HD, Sky Cinema HD and Netflix Standard with ads, plus a blistering 1,130Mbps broadband. On top of all this, the bundle comes with an O2 SIM card with unlimited data, minutes and texts, reports the Express.
Each of these four packages comes with either a free TV or £200 in bill credit for those who are happy with their current setup and would prefer the money off upcoming bills. All four contract options run for 24 months and include no a set-up fee.
To determine service availability, shoppers will need to input their postcode on Virgin's website. However, one catch is that each of the bundles will see a price hike from April 2026, followed by another increase in April 2027, so it's crucial to crunch the numbers and ensure one can comfortably cover the bills over the two-year contract.
Compared to Sky 's own TV and broadband plans, Virgin usually comes in more expensive, but it also offers more value for money by providing faster broadband and more TV channels. Sky's options start at £35 for the Essential TV and Full Fibre 150 bundle, which includes around 100 channels less than Virgin's TV package, although one of these is Sky Atlantic which Virgin does not offer.
Here's a breakdown of the eligible free TV packages:.
Bigger Combo bundle + Movies – £44.99 per month
Ideal for connected homes with four to six people and 10+ devices
TV from everywhere, at home and on the go

It's advisable to scrutinise the terms and conditions for any potential price surges post-contract to avoid an unexpected hefty bill. If the cost is due to spike significantly in the 25th month, you should be able to cancel before this occurs, but weigh up whether this potential hassle is worth the free TV initially.

Apple fans snap up iPad Pro as Sky offers up payday deal for £27 a month
Sky is giving shoppers the chance to get the Apple iPad Pro by spreading the cost Apple enthusiasts who've just received their pay and are in the mood for a bit of indulgence might be in luck. Sky is currently offering Apple's top-of-the-range iPad Pro for just £27 a month, but only for a limited period. The latest model is Apple's premier tablet available - and it's now up for grabs with an option to spread the cost. The iPad Pro boasts the potent Apple M4 chip, a revolutionary dual OLED display, and naturally, all-day battery life. Sky is currently selling the 11-inch version for £27 a month but for those desiring a larger screen and more storage, the 13-inch model is also on offer for £37 a month. It's worth noting that each of these tablets comes with a 48-month contract - however, Sky lets customers trade in within 36 months of the contract ending. Apple aficionados have the option to shorten the contract if they're not keen on committing for that long - but be ready to shell out more each month. But for shoppers who don't care about the Apple ecosystem, there's alternatives to go for. Shoppers could pick up the Samsung Galaxy S9 FE for £449, complete with a free S Pen. Alternatively, for £17 a month, Apple fans can get the 11-inch iPad Air device with the new M3 chip. And for those pondering whether the M4 Apple iPad Pro is worth the investment, take our word for it - it's definitely a worthy purchase. So much so, tech reviewers at our sister paper the Daily Express awarded it nearly full stars when it was reviewed. Tech editor Dave Snelling commented at the time: "There's simply no denying that the new iPad Pro remains the best tablet you can buy. The new slimline design is simply stunning, the M4 processor is ludicrously powerful and the upgraded OLED screen is a thing of absolute beauty. "It's a total joy to use, especially with Apple fixing a number of issues found on the older models such as the front-facing camera placement and boost to the base-level storage. The Apple Pencil and Magic Keyboard accessories are also improved, and you get other first-rate features, including amazing speakers, 5G connectivity, fast Wi-Fi and a decent rear camera. "It's very hard to knock the iPad Pro; in fact, it's pretty much perfect." However, Snelling did express some reservations about the device, adding: "The two problems here are the price and if you actually need all that power. There's now that upgraded M2 Air on sale from £599 or you could simply buy the 10th Gen model at the new price of £349. These are both excellent devices that do much the same thing as the Pro but without making such a big dent in your bank balance. "Yet, if you're after the crème de la crème of iPads and the cost doesn't deter you, then there truly is no better option than the 2024 Pro. It's both stunning and a powerhouse - we're thoroughly smitten with it."

Lewis Capaldi and Lorde top UK charts after Glastonbury performances
Alternative pop star Lorde's new record Virgin reached number one on the album chart after she performed all 11 tracks at a secret set at the Woodsies stage on Saturday. Scottish singer Capaldi also made an emotional return to the Somerset festival last weekend, performing his new song Survive which has since gone to number one on the singles chart. Capaldi performed a 35-minute set at the Pyramid stage, two years after struggling to manage his Tourette syndrome symptoms while singing on the same stage. Speaking to Official Charts, Capaldi thanked fans who had streamed and downloaded Survive, saying it 'really means the world'. 'I've been away for a little while, and to come back to this outpouring of love and support has been absolutely incredible. 'I can't thank everybody enough for all the kind words since Glastonbury – and now this. 'It's been the best week of my life,' he said. Speaking to the festival crowd on Saturday, he said: 'It's so good to be back. I'm not going to say much up here today, because if I do, I think I will probably start crying. 'But it's just amazing to be here with you all, and I can't thank you all enough for coming out and coming and seeing me. 'Second time's a charm on this one, everybody. 'It's just a short set today, but I just wanted to come and kind of finish what I couldn't finish the first time round.' Introducing Survive at the festival, Capaldi became visibly emotional as he said: 'The last two years haven't been the best for me, it's been difficult at times. 'This has been my f****** goal, to get back here,' he added. He ended his performance with Somebody You Loved, the track that Glastonbury crowds helped him to sing when he struggled with his Tourette symptoms in 2023. The condition causes you to make sudden, repetitive sounds or movements and while there is no cure, treatment can help manage the tics, according to the NHS website. Virgin is Lorde's fourth studio album, and her previous three, Pure Heroine (2013), Melodrama (2017) and Solar Power (2021) all reached the top 10 of the UK albums chart. Lorde, 28, whose real name is Ella Yelich-O'Connor, took to the Woodsies stage at Glastonbury on Saturday to perform the album in full to the packed tent and a crowd gathered outside. The New Zealand-born singer pulled her top off to finish with a double hit of Ribs from her debut album Pure Heroine, which she said was first played at Glastonbury in 2017, and Melodrama's Green Light, during which the lasers turned from blue to green. The final song prompted a football terrace-style singalong that almost drowned out Lorde herself. She is best known for songs such as Homemade Dynamite, Solar Power and her second single Royals, which reached number one in the UK singles chart.
