'Hot girl shoe of the summer' is 'terrifying' as shoppers call for them to be banned
Why wear heels when you can get a little weird with these funky shoes? Fashion trends come and go, but there is one certain item people are hoping dies off instantly. The divisive FiveFinger shoes by Vibram have become the 'hot girl shoe of the summer' - amid calls for them to be "banned".
The classic ballet slipper has had a spin on it, and ultimately looking like gloves for your feet, there's a space for every toe and are designed for those who live a barefoot lifestyle. However, they have made their way into the mainstream shoe space, with many people spotted wearing them day-to-day on the tube, out shopping, running errands or even in the office.
While fashion is subjective, it seems the majority of people can't get onboard with the shoes despite fashion girlies assuring they're the shoe of the summer.
Proud wearers claim they're the "comfiest shoes" and due to a surge in popularity, some people report they are struggling to get their hands on a pair due to being sold out. They aren't new though, and this isn't the first time they have gone viral. The brand started in 2006, and has had a cult celebrity following for nearly two decades with Scarlett Johansson and David Beckham being papped wearing them.

In 2012, Shailene Woodley wore a pair to the Golden Globes after-party. The actress wore the shoes under her floor-length black velvet dress, which led many people to question the shoe choice.
The design of the shoes is to mimic being barefoot, while still providing protection for the feet and are made with a thin flexible sole and a wide toe box to allow your toes to naturally spread - which is what happens if you live a barefoot lifestyle.
There's a growing cohort of FiveFingers Fashion Girls including model Paloma Elsesser, rapper Doechii and The Attico co-founder, Gilda Ambrosio all embracing the fitness world 's most divisive shoe
One proud Vibram wearer took to TikTok to share a clip of her shoes and said: "POV people are laughing at your freaky toe shoes," and captioned the post: "You wouldn't understand!!"
But the post has caused a mixed opinion with one user commenting: "They'll be jealous when in 30 or so years they'll be stuck with permanent blisters and your feet will still be healthy. Another chimed: "My family laughs at me over my Vibrams but I love them."
However others simply couldn't understand and one questioned the practicality and said: "Sooo what happens when you miss a step slightly and stub your toe?"
A second penned: "I will judge you in my head for wearing these but I also admit its probably super comfortable and more ergonomic than the old sneakers I'm wearing."

EastEnders star's wife rushed to hospital after she's left 'unable to speak'
Sammy could not see out of her swollen eyes. EastEnders star Ricky Champ has revealed that his wife was rushed to A&E after she was left unable to speak. Ricky's wife Sammy suffered complications related to an ongoing health issue and could not see out of her swollen eyes. The mum-of-two said that she had to get medical help as the family were about to head off on a dream trip to Disney, writes The Mirror. She said: 'What is the absolute one thing you don't need to happen the day before vou fly to Disney when you need to go shopping/ pack/clean/do washing. Oh that's right, wake up with your lips so swollen you can't speak and eyes swollen shut so vou're in A&E at 7am. 'One of the side effects of my gallstones and liver is severe hives all over my body every single morning that go away by bedtime then I wake up and it starts all over again. 'Something due to the toxins etc (still not considered urgent though, still been told need to wait a year + for an op).' Sammy, who is an influencer, then shared a series of pictures of her very swollen face before she returned to her normal self. Since marrying Sammy in August 2016, actor Ricky, who portrayed Stuart Highway in the soap. has built a life with their two children, daughter Beatrix and son River, while also carving out a varied career beyond EastEnders. Champ left behind his role as fan fave Stuart in the long-running BBC soap in 2022 after what he called a transformative experience. 'In EastEnders I went from villain to hero to dad,' he told Digital Spy at the time. 'It was amazing, doing that for five years with a character's arc. It felt weird leaving him,' he admitted. Though he's moved on from the soap, Champ isn't writing off a potential comeback. 'He didn't die. He rode off into the sunset. I think he's somewhere in the North Circular living with Rainie,' he said of his on-screen alter ego. Since his departure, Champ has kept busy. A year later, he joined the West End cast of 2:22 A Ghost Story at the Apollo Theatre. He's also made his way into streaming, landing a role in the Netflix period drama The Decameron, acting alongside Derry Girls star Saoirse-Monica Jackson. The show is about the plague which spreads through Italy, and a group of nobles and servants retreat to a villa, where their lavish getaway quickly spirals into chaos. In addition, Champ plays Sergeant Daz Black in ITV's police training comedy Piglets, showing his versatility in both drama and comedy roles.

Rebecca Loos' searingly honest justification for David Beckham 'affair'
David Beckham's former personal assistant Rebecca Loos is set to make a TV comeback this week as she takes part in Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins and is speaking out on her alleged affair with David Beckham once again More than two decades have passed since Rebecca Loos first claimed she had an affair with David Beckham, but it still remains one of the most explosive celebrity scandals of the early 2000s. Rebecca, a former glamour model and Beckham's personal assistant in 2003, is making a TV comeback on Channel 4 this week as she takes part in Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins. Like all the recruits, Rebecca faced a grilling in the show's Mirror Room. Jason Fox and Chris Oliver questioned her motives for being on the show before asking how she felt about her affair with Beckham now she's had the time to reflect on it. "It felt unjust that my life was pretty hell and his (Beck ham's) life kept going and kept blossoming. I've been accused of being a liar. I've had a lifetime of opinions around me, I've definitely developed thick skin. "I think the public opinion now has softened, at least from what I'm gathering since the documentary came out with the Beckhams a couple of years ago. I think it is now because thanks to social media, there is a whole different following out there, which it's a double-edged sword." The drama began in 2003 after Beckham had just completed a high-profile move from Manchester United to Real Madrid, a career-defining transfer that promised fresh footballing glory in Spain. With the move came a new entourage, including 26-year-old Rebecca Loos, who was hired as a personal assistant to help the Beckhams settle into Spanish life. In September that year, Beckham and Loos were photographed leaving a Madrid nightclub together. Whispers of an affair quickly began circulating, although both parties remained silent. But everything changed in April 2004 when Loos sold her story in an exclusive interview with News of the World. She claimed that the pair had been romantically involved for four months. Explaining why she chose to embark on the alleged fling, she said: "We just connected. People noticed it." Explaining that the idea of group drinks back at the hotel were floated after a night out, she claimed David told her: "Why don't we just lose the rest and why don't we just go back together?" "I gave him a look I was very surprised, very taken aback. I said, '**** off' in a joking manner. But there was a look and he was still looking at me and I was looking at him. I think one of the girls we were with came up and sat between us. I think the chemistry between David and I was so strong. Admitting she knew he was a married man and that she was worried about jeopardising her job, she shared her reason for agreeing. "I think the chemistry between David and I was so strong and people were not happy because I was being very unprofessional and he's a married man. Then it dawned on me what he had asked me and I decided I did want to go back with him so we gave each other a look and paid the bill and left. I couldn't wait to be alone with him and I knew he felt the same. We dropped off the other two people in the car and starting kissing quite passionately all the way back to the hotel... It was like magnets, pretty amazing." Beckham issued a firm denial, calling the allegations "ludicrous" and reiterating his commitment to his wife, Victoria. He said in a statement released at the time: 'The simple truth is that I am very happily married. I have a wonderful wife and two very special kids.' But the damage had been done. Victoria, who had remained in England during the early months of Beckham's Madrid tenure, was thrust into the spotlight as headlines cast doubt on their relationship. She later described that period as 'the most unhappy I have ever been in my entire life.' Loos was reportedly paid a large sum for her story, including a televised special with Sky One. She later claimed she went public not out of malice, but because 'better it comes from me.' The Beckhams never pursued legal action against Loos directly, but in 2006, they reached a confidential settlement after filing defamation claims against News of the World. Beckham has always denied the allegations. In 2023, Netflix 's Beckham docuseries reignited interest in the alleged affair. Though Loos is never mentioned by name, the show offers emotional testimony from both David and Victoria about the strain the scandal caused. 'It was the hardest period for us,' David admits. 'For us to go through that was incredibly difficult.' In March 2025, Loos re-emerged on 60 Minutes Australia to reaffirm her version of events. 'I've never lied about a single thing,' she insisted. Now living in Norway, Loos explained how the experience impacted her mental health and why she chose to speak out again: 'I'm going up against the strongest, most powerful couple in the media. All I had on my side was the truth.' Admitting she knew he was a married man and that she was worried about jeopardising her job at the time, she shared her reason for agreeing. In an interview for Sky TV she said: "I gave him a look I was very surprised, very taken aback. I said, '**** off' in a joking manner. But there was a look and he was still looking at me and I was looking at him. I think one of the girls we were with came up and sat between us. I think the chemistry between David and I was so strong."

Stars toast England's Euro triumph as David Beckham and Amanda Holden lead celebrations
David Beckham, Stacey Solomon and even Shania Twain joined the Royal Family is celebrating the Lionesses' latest Euro success and the celebrations went on long into the night Some stars will be nursing sore heads this morning after really getting the party started following England's Euro 2025 triumph. David Beckham, Stacey Solomon, Amanda Holden and Alan Carr led the celebrations following the Lionesses' penalty success over Spain, crowning them back-to-back winners. Ashley James made sure she recorded the big moment as Chloe Kelly's successful spot kick sparked wild scenes. Amanda and Alan were together enjoying a wine or two and got together with their film crew while shooting Amanda & Alan's Greek Job. Former England captain Beckham is a huge supporter of the women's game and went on an Instagram sharing spree as he honoured the heroes in Switzerland. Lizzy Cundy and Stacey's clan were gripped by the action with their families. Watching nervously from Pickle Cottage, Stacey videoed her kids dancing around the room as the England players celebrated on the TV behind them. Singer Shania Twain didn't miss the celebrations and shared a photo of herself with England's Leah Williamson, captioning it: "Let's f***ing go girls!!" as Peter Andre took to Instagram to simply say "Amazing!" Princess Charlotte and Prince William couldn't hide their joy with the Lionesses triumphant Euros final victory over Spain after they presented the winners with their reward. Charlotte, who was joined by her father Prince William on the pitch, could be seen beaming with pride as Chloe Kelly and the rest of the team made history with back-to-back European Championship victories. The pair said in a statement on X: "What a game! @Lionesses, you are the champions of Europe and we couldn't be prouder of the whole team. Enjoy this moment England. W & Charlotte." The snap of them on the pitch was shared with the caption: "CHAMPIONS OF EUROPE!" Also applauding the team on social media was King Charles, who said: 'This brings you, your manager and all your support team my most heartfelt congratulations on winning the Euros 2025. For more years than I care to remember, England fans have sung that famous chant 'football's coming home'. 'As you return home with the trophy you won at Wembley three years ago, it is a source of great pride that, through sporting skill and awesome teamwork, the Lionesses have made those words ring true. For this, you have my whole family's warmest appreciation and admiration. After needing spot-kicks to see off Sweden in the quarter-finals of Euro 2025 and seeing their semi against Italy settled in extra-time, Sarina Wiegman 's side went the distance for a third time. Hannah Hampton was one of the heroes, saving twice from the spot - capping an incredible tournament. 'This team is just unbelievable, incredible," said the goalkeeper. "We've shown throughout the tournament we can come back when we go a goal back. We've got that grit, that English blood in us. We never say die, we keep going and we did that today. 'When Chloe stepped up I turned around to the fans, miming a kick and trying to ask if we score do we win, I'd completely lost track. They were just cheering at me so I didn't know what the answer was, but then I saw that run up and that was it, we've won. I can't believe it.'
