CM lays foundation stones for development projects in Mandya
Speaking after inaugurating and laying the foundation stone for various projects under 16 different departments, Siddaramaiah launched a scathing counter to the BJP's claims of stalled development.
"This is our answer to the BJP's false propaganda that there are no funds for development," declared the CM.
"The Cauvery Neeravari Nigama Limited alone has undertaken Rs 560 crore worth of projects in just two years," he pointed out, challenging the BJP to list its contributions during its four-year rule in Maddur.
Siddaramaiah said his govt has supported local industries by clearing long-pending power dues and sanctioning Rs 52 crore for the Mandya Sugar Factory's revival.
An additional Rs 10 crore is now approved for its further development. In response to requests from the Milk Producers' Association, the govt provided a Rs 5-per-litre subsidy and continues to extend support to the dairy sector. The CM underscored the establishment of an Agricultural University in Mandya, along with necessary budget allocations, as evidence of his govt's focus on rural and agrarian progress.
The CM praised Maddur MLA KM Uday.
"He speaks less and works more," the CM said. He also announced govt approval for Uday's long-pending proposal for a 100-feet road project in Maddur city.
DCM DK Shivakumar emphasised his deep commitment to Mandya and announced major irrigation initiatives, including Rs 500 crore for canal development and water supply to Malavalli.
Highlighting Congress' welfare agenda, he cited CM Siddaramaiah's Rs 4 lakh crore budget, out of which Rs 1 lakh crore is directed toward public welfare—free electricity for farmers, 10kg rice per family, Rs 2,000 monthly for women, and youth unemployment benefits.
"No other govt in India has offered such wide range of guarantees," he said.
The DCM gave a firm message to JD(S) leaders. "Don't waste your time. This is Congress's time," he said. Reflecting on Maddur's rich history and leaders like SM Krishna, Shivakumar said, "Congress built this land and will build its future too. Let's rise beyond politics and support progress together."
District minister Cheluvarayaswamy, ministers HC Mahadevappa, Krishna Byre Gowda, Dinesh Gundu Rao, Rahim Khan, K Venkatesh, MLA Ravi Ganiga, and MLC Dinesh Gooligowda were present.
CM blames Centre
Siddaramaiah accused the Union govt of neglecting farmers by failing to supply the required quantity of fertilisers. "We wrote to the Centre demanding a fertiliser supply. It's been a week with no response. I urge BJP MPs and Union ministers from Karnataka, including Mandya MP HD Kumaraswamy, to act and get the required fertilisers from the centre," he stated.

B'desh immigrants living illegally sent back: Saini
Chandigarh: Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini said Bangladeshi infiltrators living illegally in the state are being identified and sent back. In a post on X, he also shared a video clip showing illegal immigrants being sent back. 'Bangladeshi infiltrators living illegally in Haryana are being identified and sent back to Bangladesh through the BSF at the West Bengal border,' Saini said. 'Not a single illegal Bangladeshi infiltrator will be allowed to remain on Haryana's soil. Any activity against the country's security and integrity will not be tolerated. Strict action will be taken against anyone who tries to undermine India's unity,' he added. Last month, during a drive in Gurugram to identify illegal immigrants, Saini said there is no place for Bangladeshi infiltrators in Haryana. He also slammed West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee for her 'sympathy towards those who breach the country's security'. Banerjee recently alleged that poor Bangla-speaking workers from West Bengal were being harassed, detained and even pushed into Bangladesh by authorities in certain BJP-ruled states, dubbing the incidents as acts of 'linguistic terror'.
