Samsung Galaxy Z Fold7, Z Flip7 and Z Flip7 FE go on pre-order in the US
All new devices went on pre-order after the event and that will continue for a couple of weeks – open sales begin on July 25 (Friday two weeks from now). During the pre-order period, the phones get a free storage upgrade.
Samsung Galaxy Z Fold7 and Z Flip7
The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold7 is super slim (8.9mm folded, 4.2mm unfolded) and light (215g, it weighs less than an S25 Ultra). You can check out our hands-on for a closer look and don't miss the camera samples that show off what the new 200MP camera can do.
The phone also has bigger displays – 6.5' cover and 8.0' main display (up from 6.3' and 7.6' on the Z Fold6). One thing that wasn't upgraded was the battery – you're still looking at a 4,400mAh cell. Samsung says that Z Fold buyers had other priorities, demanding a slimmer build, better cameras and larger displays.
The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip7 offers the best of both worlds – a slimmer design (13.7mm folded, 6.5mm unfolded vs. 14.9mm/6.9mm on the Z Flip6) and a bigger 4,300mAh battery. That's 300mAh more than the previous model and almost as big as the Fold battery.
This one has larger displays too, an edge-to-edge 4.1' cover display and a 6.9' inner one (vs. 3.4' and 6.7' on the 2024 model). However, all Z Flip7 models will be powered by the Exynos 2500, including the US one. Also, the cameras didn't get any real upgrades besides 10-bit HDR video support. The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip7 FE is the more affordable clamshell foldable – its MSRP is $200 less than the Z Flip6 was last year. That said, you can't depend on carrier deals for this one – the Z Flip7 FE will be sold only by retailers and not carriers.
Anyway, you are essentially looking at the Galaxy Z Flip6 except with the old Exynos 2400 chipset replacing the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 for Galaxy. Also, memory was cut back to 8/128GB and 8/256GB configurations, but the free storage upgrade gets you the latter.
The Samsung Galaxy Watch8 is the slimmest in the family, measuring only 8.6mm, while getting a small bump in battery capacity. The squircle shape – or 'cushion design' as Samsung terms it – is said to be more comfortable to wear and more stable (which offers more reliable readings during exercise with a lot of movement).
The Watch8 has a 50% brighter display (now boosting to 3,000 nits), but it is powered by the same Exynos W1000 as last year's Watch7. Check out our Galaxy Watch8 series hands-on for a closer look at the Watch8 and Watch8 Classic.
The Samsung Galaxy Watch8 Classic brings back the rotating bezel and introduces the Quick Button, similar to the Watch Ultra. This one is available only in 46mm size and comes with a relatively small 1.34' display. There are no discounts yet, but Amazon throws in a $50 and a $100 gift card for the Watch8 and Watch8 Classic, respectively.
There is no new Samsung Galaxy Watch Ultra, but Samsung refreshed the existing model with a new color, Titanium Blue, and it doubled the storage to 64GB (bringing it on par with the new Classic). Even with the $100 gift card, unless you need the extra storage for podcasts or something, you may want to go with the older Ultra – 32GB is still a lot of storage for a watch.

Blue Shadow, which is the standout color option this year in my opinion, can be bought in stores as has genuinely made a generational leap with the Fold this year, and has truly caught up to Chinese foldables in my eyes. Theis super slim, very powerful, has an excellent camera, and is a stunner to boot with a screen that features a very minimal crease. If you go for the 1 TB variant, you also get boosted up to 16 GB of RAM, which is always welcome.

Samsung Galaxy Watch8 in for review
A Galaxy of new Samsung devices made their way to the office, and we keep unpacking them. The Galaxy Watch8 is the new entry-point in Samsung's smartwatch portfolio and we have the 40mm Silver version with us. But first – a quick unboxing. Watch8 comes in a simple white cardboard box, which contains the watch and the same proprietary 10W wireless charging puck that ends with a USB-C cable. The inside compartment also holds the new proprietary TPU strap. You'll immediately notice the new cushion design, which takes inspiration from the Galaxy Watch Ultra. In short, the casing is made from two parts – a brushed aluminum squircle piece and a round AMOLED display on top. The new design allowed Samsung to make the Watch8 thinner as it now measures just 8.6 mm. It feels pretty light on the wrist too at just 30 grams. Our 40mm version gets a 1.34-inch diagonal, but Samsung is also offering a larger 44mm size, which bumps up to 1.47 inches. Regardless of the casing size, you get Sapphire Crystal protection and a peak brightness of 3,000 nits – a big upgrade over the 2,000 nits peak on the Watch7 series. The updated design also brings Samsung's Dynamic Lug system, which is advertised to bring improvement in health and activity readings. There's a bunch of new health and activity tracking features inside One UI 8 Watch, and we're eager to see how the new Antioxidant Index fares in the real world. Watch8 brings two side buttons on the right-hand side, while the opposite houses the speakers. There's no physical rotating bezel like on the Classic version. Instead, the edges of the panel give off vibrations to simulate a 'digital bezel'. The 325mAh battery inside the Watch8 claims up to 40 hours with Always-on Display (AoD) off and 30 hours with AoD on. Galaxy Z Fold7/Flip7, Watch8 series, OnePlus Nord 5/CE5 official, Week 28 in review
Samsung made the biggest splash this week with the unveiling of its new foldables and watches. The Galaxy Z Fold7 is the thinnest and lightest in the series, has the 200MP main camera of the Galaxy S25 Ultra, and finally brings a 21:9 cover display. The Galaxy Z Flip7 also brings a bigger cover screen at 4.1 inches. Both are now up for pre-order. The Galaxy Watch8 and Watch8 Classic both ditch the round design for a squircle one. Both pack the same Exynos W1000 3nm SoC as the previous generation. The Galaxy Watch8 Classic has a smaller display than the Watch6 Classic, but adds the Galaxy Watch Ultra's Action button. Fold7 is bigger, lighter and now comes with a flagship main camera. Both watches use the "cushion" design that we saw on the Watch Ultra. Speaking of, there is no new Watch Ultra, only a new color for the original model. It will be among the few upgrades compared to its predecessor. Three new Galaxy foldables - possibly four if the tri-fold rumors are true - plus three new Galaxy watches are coming this Wednesday. Onelus announced the Nord 5 and Nord CE5 this week. The Nord 5 has a massive 6,800mAh battery and a big 6.83-inch 144Hz AMOLED panel. It runs on a Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 with up to 12GB of RAM. The Nord CE5 has a 6.77-inch 120Hz AMOLED display, a Dimensity 8350 chipset, and an even bigger 7,100mAh battery. Both phones are now on sale The Moto G96 also debuted with a 6.67-inch 144Hz OLED display, a Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 SoC, and a 5,500mAh battery. It's going on sale in India on July 16. Nord CE5 brings the biggest battery ever fitted on a OnePlus phone. Open sales in India are set to kick off on July 16. Both feature six-core CPUs. Nothing struck a nice balance between different and functional. It looks just like its predecessor.
