Newly crowned Primary School National Glee Champions perform with Scotland rising star Calum Bowie at Edinburgh's Usher Hall
More than 180 choirs started Challenge in February and after a series of heats and semi-finals nine Glee choirs remained to contest the National Title at Edinburgh's Usher Hall on Sunday, June 22. Part of the Challenge included learning and performing one of two of Calum's songs.
In a packed programme the huge Usher Hall audience were treated to a rousing opening set by the drummers of Harbinger Drum Crew followed by amazing performances by each of the nine finalists.
Watching choirs perform his songs from backstage Calum commented how 'incredible the choir performances were' and jokingly added 'how he would have to up his game' for his closing set.
Taking to the stage to the screams and cheers of a rapturous audience Calum and his band played a fantastic set with the choirs rushing to the front of the stage to get closer to him. As Calum and his band left the stage the screams for more continued. They didn't have long to wait.
With the Judges back on the stage, Calum to the audience's delight returned to present the awards. As the tension built the top three choirs were announced and came to the stage as follows 2nd Runner Up – St Johns RC PS, Rosyth; 1st Runner Up – Fernielea PS, Aberdeen and the winners Bellsquarry Primary School, Livingston.
With Bellsquarry choir still on the stage Calum invited the choir to join with him to perform ' Lost Love'.
It was a fitting end to what was a heartwarming and reaffirming afternoon of the talent, dedication and commitment in our schools.
'It was all about the children and it was an honour to be part of a special day for them,' said Calum. He added 'it's wonderful to think that one of these talented children may well be a star of the future'

The Speirs who run cancer charity Calum's Cabin scoop an exciting P&O Cruise at our People's Oscars The Speirs who have provided holidays for 3000 terminally ill children and their families scooped the trip of a lifetime at the Pride of Scotland awards. Duncan, 63, Caroline, 58 and their daughter Jenna, 30, who run charity Calum's Cabin, won a luxury Caribbean getaway courtesy of award sponsors P&O Cruises. The trio were left speechless when they were revealed as the winners of the 14 night cruise at the glittering ceremony last Monday night. The family, who built a network of holiday homes and flats in memory of their son Calum, have spent the last 14 years giving sick kids and their families a much needed break. So it seems fitting that thanks to P&O Cruises they will now be able to enjoy some time away together making memories of their own. The Speirs, whose son Calum died of an inoperable brain tumour in 2007, will set sail from Barbados on MS Arvia on a 14 day jaunt round the Caribbean with stops in St Lucia, Martinique, Grenada, St Kitts & Nevis, the Virgin Islands, Antigua and Saint Maarten. The family, who had picked up a Special Recognition Award earlier in the night from actor David Hayman and presenter Jean Johansson couldn't hide their astonishment when the announcement was heralded by a troupe of colourful Caribbean dancers and steel drummers. Caroline, said: 'As if winning a Pride of Scotland Special Recognition award wasn't enough already. We were shocked and absolutely astounded when our faces were revealed on the big screen. We are blown away and still can't believe it. A big thank you to P&O Cruises.'

Lorraine Kelly faces fear to climb 25ft ship's mast
TV presenter Lorraine Kelly admitted she was "terrified" after abseiling down a 25-metre mast on Friday. The challenge took place on the RRS Discovery ship in Dundee, where Kelly scaled the mast with fellow presenter Dan Snow. Kelly, who is not good with heights, described the experience as scary and said she was "shaking like a leaf" afterwards. This event occurred just weeks after the 65-year-old presenter underwent preventive keyhole surgery to remove her fallopian tubes and ovaries. Watch the video in full above.
